What our customer's say!

"Great poultry shears!", I have one word to describe these poultry shears. Greatness! Ok, I have more than one word for these shears, so here goes. I like the stainless steel spring that flexes the blades back open after each cut. I like the no slip handle with the enclosed finger guard. This is nice when cutting slick chicken. Now to the most important part--the blades. I telling you these son-of-guns are sharp! The bottom blade has grooves on the side that hold smaller bones in place while you are cutting them. For thicker bones it has a notch that holds the bone close to the handle for greater leverage. We like to get rotisserie chickens from Wal-Mart. I can have one these cut in half in about 30 seconds. It goes through breast bone cartilage like a breeze and using the bone notch, it cuts through the back bones like a, well, like another breeze. After cutting up your chicken or turkey, you simply seperate the blades for thorough cleaning (an ingenious system-no screwdriver or pliers needed). I don't put mine in the dishwasher because I think it dulls the blades. I used these on a large turkey breast last Thanksgiving to remove the ribs and other bones. Boy did it make the job a lot easier! I've not used any of the other more expensive poultry shears but I can't be more pleased than I am with these. I would agree with the name of these--PROFESSIONAL Poultry Shears.

"Oxo Poultry Shears", As with all Oxo products, this one didn't disappoint. Excellent steel quality is SHARP! I also like the fact that the blades come apart and is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning, especially since this will be used on poultry. Highly recommended.

"ok but not such Good Grips", I had hoped that these would be the answer for me in cutting up a couple of chickens a week, bones and all, for feeding pets. They're not quite. The grips have to open widely enough that I can barely keep my grip, and I have medium sized hands. The upper non-circular grip is shaped such that it allows, no, forces my hand to slide forward into an awkward position which has less leverage for cutting through bones. I wish they had full circle grips on both handles because when my grip slips, the spring loading makes them fly open to the 90 degree position where they come apart and they fall clattering to the floor in two pieces. That means washing and reassembling. That happens to me at least once each time I use them. They also will not cut skin or other thin tissues well by themselves, so I have to have a pair of kitchen scissors handy in case.
I thought of rating them a 4 because mostly they cut well, but the problems are just too annoying.
I think I may try the Wusthof Come Apart shears that are so well rated and see if they do better.
ADDENDUM 5 months later: I did try the Wusthof shears and they didn't come anywhere near these poultry shears. I've learned how to not have them split and drop most of the time, and I do make them work very hard with pastured poultry. They cut through commercial chickens pretty easily. I would upgrade my rating to 4 **** .

"Bone Crushing Implement of Destruction", Works great as described and how you would expect. Saves time and mess. Safe to use. We like it.

"good poultry shears that clean easily", I am not a poultry shears expert, but I do cut up a lot of raw chicken backs. I found that these shears are a good value for the money. 1. They cut through raw backs easily, quickly and safely. 2. The handles are well designed, come with a bolster and provide a non-slip, comfortable surface. 3. The shears have a safety lock that keeps the blades closed but does not hinder cutting when it is disengaged. 4. Most importantly, because raw chicken can carry various pathogens and bacteria, these shears are easy to clean. The blades come apart so no chicken bits can get stuck between the blades. Overall, these poulty shears are just what I need.
