"Impossible to mount" Impossible to mount under a normal cabinet. May be possible in China with their cabinets, but not in the USA. "Worst can opener I've ever used!" When I remodeled my kitchen I decided to go with black & stainless appliances. It was hard to find an under counter can opener in the colors I wanted and that I thought would match the excellent service my previous B&D spacemaker gave me for over 18 yrs. But when I found this one I thought my luck couldn't get any better. That is until my husband tried to install the thing. None of the holes matched up to the previous spacemaker and because of the handle hitting the bottom of the cabinet door he had to put spacers between the opener and the cabinet which looks unsightly. Then I tried using it. What a nightmare! The cutting element falls off too easily, it's extremely slow when cutting, not only does it not hold up a medium or large can while cutting (if you can even get the can started), it leaves a really dangerous ragged edge on the lid and metal shavings all over the counter when you're finished. Why couldn't B&D just leave well enough alone. If it's not broken, DON'T FIX IT! I want an under counter opener in these colors but this thing is going in the trash. If I could give less than 1 star I would. VERY DISAPPOINTED. "B&D Can Opener" It was difficult to install because it dosen't work well on cabinets with over hangs. "AWESOME ITEM" A+ SELLER. LOVE THIS CAN OPENER. BRAND NEW AND LOVE THE WAY IT LOOKS AND RUNS SMOOTH. RECEIVED IN PREFECT CONDITION, VERY SPEEDY DELIEVERY AND A FAIR PRICE. THANK YOU, SINCERELY, JODI "Worth It!" Previous owner of a black & Decker under the counter can opener for 22 years(It was a wedding gift). When it died a valiant death decided that maybe another was good for 22 more years. Love it! Our appliances are now stainless and this blends well. It's quite and out of the way. My husband said the installation was a snap. Great Bargain.

What our customer's say! "It works!", After reading the other reviews here, I was really nervous about purchasing this, but our other one (also a B&D) had broken after ~12 years, and I couldn't imagine not having one. I was also concerned about installation since I knew that I'd hear the grousing from DH if it was difficult. But, my worries were unfounded. Installation was fine. We were a little disapointed that the holes didn't match exactly (but SO close - why do they do that?), but DH installed without a problem. It's been working fine. I have to admit, I've only opened about 6 cans so far, but they have all opened with ease. "Not Reliable!", I gave this can opener one star because it looks nice (and because Amazon doesn't allow "0" stars). Unfortunately, I did not purchase it as "Kitchen Art" but rather to open cans. Technically, it doesn't even save counter space as I now have to replace it after fewer than 1 dozen cans! Amazon's exchange/refund policy would not cover it (because it stopped working after a little more than 30 days after I received it, although I wasn't able to actually install/use it for a couple of weeks after it arrived). I wish I had listened to the reviewers that noted that it didn't work. B&D is IMPOSSIBLE to contact for a return/refund. This was a total waste of my money. "Works well, Good value", I purchased this to replace my slowly dying and aging GE spacemaker. This unit is stylish and for the money it works fine with no problems. Installing it was easy, too bad it didn't match the holes from my previous one, but oh well. Granted it is not a $200 Bosch but you get what you pay for. "My favourite!", I've been using B&D undercounter can openers for over 15 years. I wouldn't own another can opener. I do see where some people are complaining about it not mounting well but I've never had a problem. But it does pierce perfectly, is quiet and does a complete job...it doesn't stop just before the lid is completely detached like some other canopeners do. Only type of can opener I will ever own. "great lil can opener /knife sharpener", This is a great space saver. works great takes up very little room. Only draw back was the spacers they sent to help mount the unit could have been better way to do that part. But overall I'm pleased with the unit. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Space saver can opener", This little can opener works okay and looks okay. For a quick inexpensive buy it was worth it. I will say however, it is slow and not extremely strong. When I can find another one in black with a little more juice, I am willing to pay more, this one is a little aggravating, but it does work, just not to speed... "more work space on your counter", I love it gets the can opner off my counter space and under the counter very easy to put in and use and clean up. Only problem I wished Black and Decker would make again the under counter toster over I need a new one bad. I also own under counter coffie maker and its very nice. "Hard to get cans started", Poorly engineered can opener. It is VERY difficult to get a can started. If you keep trying, after a dozen or two dozen tries you'll get the can to open.. But you would have saved much time and frustration using your old hand held opener. Very disappointing design. "Black & Decker Can Opener", This is the second Black and Decker Can Opener I have had in two months and this one quit working on 1/17/08. The first can opener motor was not functional coming out of the box!! Very unhappy with this product "B&D Can Opener", The can opener was easy to install and easy to use. The extras, such as bottle top openers and knife sharpener are a necessity and are easy to use. |
