Others say...
"Worked well for a year, then turned useless" Bought three of these from target when they came out at $22/ea. They were awesome at first, but after about a year, all three stopped holding a seal and the lids wouldn't tighten anymore. Contacted the manufacturer & they offered no support. Can't recommend a product that fails after a year and doesn't have any customer support. "Everthing advertised" The Contigo West Loop Mug doesn't spill, except for the few drops that may be in the spout. It keeps coffee hot very well. I expected having to hold the button in order to drink to be a real pain but have found it not to be an inconvenience. "better than all the starbucks mugs i've gone through!" after my latest starbucks travel mug broke, i wasn't sure how i would ever replace it. it kept my coffee warm for hours, and never leaked. i did my research and found this mug online...with great reviews. well, they are all true! not only is this mug completely leak-proof, but it keeps my coffee warm even longer than my previous starbucks mug did...the one that i thought i would never be able to replace. my fiance also purchased one after i had only had mine a few days, and he loves it too. the lid does take some getting used to drinking from (it did for me at least). but other than that, i highly recommend this item :) "Worked great...for a year" This mug worked great for about a year. Then, the push button started to go bad and the rubber seal actually broke down and disintegrated into the coffee one day. I never put this through the dishwasher and only wash it in hot water with soap, usually 5 days a week. It still works, but it is no longer spill proof. "Best Mug Ever Purchased" My husband and I have been looking for new mugs for a while. After doing some research online and not finding anything we like, we ran across the Contigo West Loop Mug at a big box warehouse store that had a 2 for the price of 1 special. I read the claims and was a little skeptical - how could this mug be spill proof? And yeah right - would it really fit in my car cup holders? Wouldn't the stainless steel inner lining make my water taste like metal? We gave it a shot. Day 1: within 2 hours of our being at work, my husband emailed me - subject line was "best mug ever!" It was incredible as we compared notes: our water actually tasted better, it really was spill proof, it did fit in the car cup holders, the double-inner liner w/ air between was an excellent thermal barrier - our water stayed cool while our tea stayed hot - and on top of it all, it's beautiful! I have gotten so many complements on this mug. Not only is it functional, but it is also very sleek and simple in design. We are tossing our old plastic water bottles out. No more nasty tasting residue in our water! Go ahead and buy this bottle - because this is the best out there and you can stop looking.

What our customer's say! "Perfect", This is the perfect car cup. No spills--ever. Nice to hold. Easy to use. Keeps it hot. "Ice Cold Beverages in the Hot Summer Sun!!", Some of us are just hot bodies. Summer, winter, whatever we just want our beverages ice cold. Here's what sold me: August 2008 (7:00 AM), my mom had two of these mugs and we filled them with ice water for a road trip to a funeral. During the three hour drive from Maryland to the deep country part of Virginia, I sipped some water. We attended the funeral, stayed for the repast, and visited with the family. The mug stayed in the car in the ridiculous heat and humidity from 10AM to 6PM. When we got in the car for the drive home, I had cold, cold water with ice!! I pledged my loyalty to the mug right then. I use mine at work, where 75 people fight over the limited ice produced by a mediocre residential caliber fridge/freezer ice maker. I get ice in the morning and have cold water all day long. Issues mentioned in other posts: Threads - Never had an issue or problem Spitting - Cold beverages are polite. They don't spit when vacuum seal is released Autoseal - I am clumsy. The last time I rode with mom I spilled milk on her carpet and had to hear for two weeks about how it "still smelled". When I dropped this mug (and I did)no worries. "Close but no cigar!", Not the cheapest and certainly not the best. Seal is suspect and one needs to constantly check the top. If not on perfectly, you will wear your drink. The squeeze button does not always seal properly so a little liquid is trapped in the top and you dribble when trying to drink. It does keep things hot and/or cold, but that is not enough with all the other good non-spill mugs on the market. "Uneven quality control, abysmal customer service", I purchased two of these from another retailer. After using them for a few weeks I observed that one worked perfectly and the other sweated profusely, left rings on the table, and did not keep drinks cold. One was obviously defective. The retailer was by this time out of stock. I contacted Contigo for an exchange. A discourteous customer service rep dismissively told me that my only recourse was to go back to the retailer, who was "expecting another shipment later in the year." Despite the fact that Contigo sells these on its own website, they pointedly refused to provide any support or make an exchange, pointing out that "what [I] was having a hard time understanding" was that the retailer, and not them, already had my money, so of course they would not exchange the product. They may be justified in this approach, but it sure left a bad taste in my mouth! "The Item is Wonderful!", This mug is very good at keeping hot liquids hot for a long time; and as advertised, it absolutely does not spill. I've purchased several as gifts and several for people that didn't have access to a computer. I have extras to give when someone wants to take mine. This is a wonderful product. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Contigo West Loop Mug", This mug has everything I like. Keeps coffee hot for hours. Easiest to use. This is my second one. I left my first one at my mother's house and she won't give it back. "Is it just me...", First the good stuff - It keeps the coffee hot and inside the mug until you press the button. I think it's absurd that some reviewers are complaining the mug seals so well that pressure builds up. If it didn't then it wouldn't but that's essentially why you bought it so it does. (I think I did that right) Now the bad part, for me anyway. It appears the cup (lid actually) contributes a rubbery taste to the coffee. I've used the cup several times and washed it in between uses. Doesn't seem to fix the problem. When I use a Nissan mug that extra bit of flavoring is gone. I'm hoping it will go away in time because otherwise this is an excellent product. "Great Travel Mug!", I heat my coffee in the microwave at home, then pour it in the Contigo travel mug and take it to work with me. It stays warm throughout the morning. It doesn't leak, either. I love this travel mug and would heartily recommend it to others! "Awesome product, complicated and fragile lid", This is a great product, the only really leak-proof travel mug I've seen in stores. You can throw it on the floor and roll it around and it won't leak. It also does a good job of keeping your drink at its original temperature, and the push-to-drink button works really well - it's easy to use one handed. I only gave it four stars because the lid is complicated to clean - not a problem for me because I usually use it for ice water, but if you wanted to use it for milk or coffee with cream it might become a hassle to keep it clean. "That's what I'm talking about...", My all time favorite thermal mug. It won't spill; you can't make it. It's sleek, comfortable, always cool to the touch. I can use it to shake-up sugar in iced coffe and nary a drop escapes. But it's best feature is that it keeps my coffee piping hot for HOURS -- this is the feature I most want and the one I'm willing to pay serious money for. It's easy to use, easy to clean (but not dishwasher safe or the thermal properties would be compromised). I purchased this and Contigo's other well reviewed "Extreme" thermal mug to see how they compared. Don't do the same. This mug (the steel version) is worth every penny; the Extreme is a loser if you require hot coffee. I love this mug and I'm pretty sure it will get me through the next ten years like my last investment purchase mug. ![]() |
