What our customer's say! "A timeless classic!", The Jungle Book is one of those Disney classics that I never ever get tired of watching! It was the first ever Disney cartoon that my parents got me when I was a child. The characters in this masterpiece are wonderful and each and every one of them has a unique style and personality. Kudos to Rudyard Kipling for writing this beautiful story that will live on in our hearts for many years to come! "As cute as I remember", Better than I remember. The DVD quality is great and my son loves the movie. "One of the greatest animated films", Man....King Louie's music bit is the best. This movie is superb. Ahead of it's time. "Great film for kids and grown-ups, too", Having called a month-long time out on princess stuff, I ordered this hoping but not really believing it would replace Little Mermaid or Cinderella in my daughter's mind. But she loves it. She doesn't get to watch the whole thing often but I occasionally just cue up the songs and let her watch, sing along and dance to those. Definitely a solid choice for any home dvd collection. "Highly recommend!", This was a treasured movie of my mom's...it was always one of her favorite Disney movies, along with Pinocchio. She passed her love of this movie along to me as a child and I loved it too. When I saw that it was restored, I couldn't pass it up(especially because I have a child of my own now to pass it along too). what a wonderful movie...better than I remembered. No Pixar movie can come close to the warm feeling you get when you watch these cartoons that are actually drawn & painstakingly developed by hand. I highly recommend this to anyone 
Read this reviews before You buy... "STILL GREAT FAMILY FUN AFTER 40 YEARS", I saw this movie in the theater 11 times; more than any other movie. In 1967 this movie totally captivated me. I even fell in love with the little Indian girl at the end of the film. And after purchasing this DVD, I'm still crazy about it 40 years later. Some of the catchiest tunes ever, and way ahead-of-its-time animation. Everyone in the family will love this Kipling and Disney classic. "A Classic - aesthetic and narrative wise!", This is one of the nicest stories ever told and pictured. The animal's characters are live-like and typical. The music/songs reflect the characteristics of the animals in an adorable way and are real catchy songs. It is amusement for the whole family. I highly recommend this classic! "The CD was blank", I forgot what I paid for this product but it was too much regardless of what I paid because the CD I received was blank. I did not make any effort to return it for a refund or exchange but still I was quite disappointed as I ordered issue 1 and 2 at the same time and now I have issue 2 and don't have issue 1. "Fun movie!", Great for all ages! I bought this for my grandaughters. They have a great time watching this movie. A classic that will never get old. "Great Classic - chopped version - for the new generation", Well, yes, that's true. This is one of the great classics ever produced. I already own the original version in full frame on DVD. The reason that I gave this 4 stars is simply because they cropped the movie from top and bottom to make it widescreen. It's not true that you won't see the characters heads. Yes, you lose a little from the picture, but then so you do if you play the full frame version on a widescreen TV and you set the TV to "widezoom" instead of 16:9, because if you set the TV to 16:9 you will see everything "flat". So you need to set it to a more normal aspect ratio, which in the Sony case it's called "widezoom", Philips has the "Zoom 16:9" and "Zoom 14:9", others have other names for that setting. When you watch the movie like that, in order to fill the entire screen, you will lose from top and bottom on a full frame movie. However, with this movie, they didn't simply just cut the movie from top and bottom. They did an entire re-working of the film, where they take it frame by frame and they cut from top and bottom where there's unimportant stuff on the screen. In other words, if you have a scene where the character is shown more on the top of the screen, and you have a rock or grass, or something else on the bottom, then they will cut only from the bottom enough so that it fits on a widescreen frame. In other scenes, they will cut accordingly, so that you won't lose essential stuff that must be seen. Therefore, if you're trying to make a decision whether or not you should replace your original, full-frame DVD of this movie with this new widescreen version, I guess it all comes down to how much of a movie buff you are. If you really really love a classic, an original, then you will stick to the original full frame if you already have it. If you just want to own a copy of this movie, and you own a widescreen TV and you adore new technology, then I suggest that you buy this new version. They made it to fit just that profile. Me - I already own the original full-frame DVD. I've watched it on my widescreen TV and it looks fine. For more info and an outstanding review before you buy this version, check out: [...] |
