Others say...
"Great microwave" We're very pleased with this microwave. The knob dial is extremely convenient, the unit is great-looking, the meat thawing feature is very useful. All in all a great appliance. "Great until it stopped working after 2 months!" Obviously Panasonic has problems with the model since I have read several similar reviews here and on other sites. The microwave worked fine for 2 months and without warning it stopped and gave me the H98 code. My only option is to take it to a repair shop 20+ miles from my house and go without until it is repaired. I think my best bet is to cut my losses buy a more reliable brand. "The best microwave" I've had the microwave for over a month, and no problems. The sensor reheat and defrost work as advertised, and it is amazingly fast. One and a half minutes will heat up any plate of food. All in all, great buy, and every microwave I saw had some negative reviews about breakage, so don't be overly concerned about it. "Best microwave owned thus far." I read about this microwave initially in Consumer and they ranked it very high. It cooks the food evenly, and is VERY easy to use. It's also stylish. My wife and I are very pleased with it, and would recommend it to friends and family. "Takes microwaving to a higher level" I'm so pleased with this microwave. It looks as nice as it cooks, too. However, I was disappointed to read that some reviewers had mechanical failures. My last microwave lasted over ten years.

What our customer's say! "The Knob is a Hassle", I thought I would like setting cook time with a knob, but it's not as quick or easy as punching it in with a keypad. This microwave has no numeric keypad. Setting cook time is the main event. Why must Panasonic invent a way that triples the time and effort involved? It won't bother most people, but after 9 months I still find it a little annoying. You need to turn the knob a little, then a little more, then oops, back a little, almost there...OK good. This microwave looks great and works great, but the knob idea was a mistake. "received crushed on the left side", I purchased this microwave from Amazon and I received it crushed on the left side. I was very upset because one of the reasons I purchased it was the appearance. "DO NOT PURCHASE! unless you'd like some radiation...", this microwave was just over one month old when it DIED. but not just died, it tried to kill us in the process. all of a sudden the code "H98" started showing up and it would not work. you'd unplug and replug and it would appear to start up. but then you'd smell the fumes, awful awful fumes. and if it didnt quit on its own, once you cancelled it you would almost pass out by the fumes when you opened to find your food ice cold. even if its been going for minutes on high. an ice brick still. in all honesty, this microwave started making people sick and panasonic did not care one bit when informed. we want it out ASAP. "Panasonic NN-SD667S Microwave", I purchased this microwave because the inexpensive Panasonic I had owned for 7 years finally conked out. [This is not a slight of that microwave, as I'm known to show people the candle-in-the-microwave-plasma demonstration and to fry backup data CDs to render them unreadable (4 seconds, max).] I purchased this specific model because I had used a similar Panasonic at someone's house and liked the aesthetics and ergonomics of it. Upon purchasing this microwave, I was pleased with the aesthetics, although true stainless rather than the sprayed silver for the top/side sleeve would be nice. The dial is sweet and I don't care about not being able to dial in 2:47 vs. 2:45 -- I'm not a precise cook. I don't have an exact calibration, as tap water temperatures may have differed and my view of boiling is not accurate, but this microwave (1300 watt) just barely heats food faster than the old one (1000 watt). As in about 10 seconds faster for a mug of water for tea. I'm not sure if heating time is supposed to have any linear relationship with the rated power, but in my case it appears not to. I've used this microwave for a few months and am happy with it. I'm 6'1" and don't have the problems reading the display as others have stated, so that's not a downside for me. Also, the only controls I use are Power Level (just for defrosting) and the time knob, so I would know nothing about the myriad other controls. I'm simple people, so all that stuff is outside my needs. "Died after one day. Customer service difficult to contact and rude.", I bought this at a local membership store. Lucky for me, because they have a very liberal return policy which is where it went right back to join the two other ones I saw sitting behind the counter when I took it back. This microwave looks great, is the right size and manged to heat up one container of peas before croaking. After that it would heat for somewhere between 30 seconds and 1 minute and then turn itself off. The top of it got VERY hot. It still has power (its not that the circuit is blowing) but it decided that my food is done enough. I called Panasonic. They have a very annoying computer that you must speak too. After being transfered 3 times, waiting on hold then the system hung up on me. Called back, got a person who asked me for all kinds of info before informing me that I could take it in to be repaired since it was "still under warranty". I told him I would just take it back to the store and he tried to convince me they would not take it back since they do not have "store return policy". I pointed out the the store I bought it from does have a return policy. He was rude after I told him I was not willing to work with them to repair a product I had not owned for more than a day. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "A Real Lemon", Like the other negative reviews have stated, this is a fantastic microwave oven for between 2 and 6 months, then it dies. Not only is Panasonic no help, but not one repair shop I've contacted wants anything to do with the Panasonic inverter ovens. Class action, anyone? "microwave nightmare", Purchased this microwave from Amazon about a month ago, paid full price $159.99. Used it about 10 times and received an error message H98. Basicly the microwave function died. Called Panasonic they told me to take it to a service center for repair. Rinfret's service center told me that they do not do warranty repairs for Panasonic because Panasonic does not pay. Called Panasonic again, now they want me to take it to another service center 45 minutes away. Wasting a lot of time on this $159.99 microwave that's just 35 days old.Panasonic NN-SD667S 1-1/5-Cubic-Foot 1300-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel "Excellent Quality and Extremely Easy to Use", This is the best microwave we have ever owned. It is made very well. Door opens easily and closes firmly and quietly...no rattles. Probably the best features are the sensor cook and sensor reheat. The microwave monitors the humidity level and absorption rate to determine correct cooking times and power levels...it is so easy, its a no-brainer. Just push the Sensor Reheat button and then the Start button and this oven does the rest, which delights my wife, since she doesn't have to read the instruction booklet. The pop-out dial to manually set cooking levels and times is pretty cool too. The faster you turn the knob, the faster it changes time. Turn slowly and the seconds tick up slowly, turn quickly and you will arrive at about ten minutes by turning just 90 degrees. Simply brilliant. The appliance also looks really nice. The fit and finish are excellent. "Great Microwave for the Money", I certainly am not an expert on kitchen appliances, but I did comparison shopping for a powerful, high-quality, multi-featured microwave oven for a good price. And I feel that I really found what I was looking for with this Panasonic microwave. My impressions were confirmed when I stumbled upon a current Consumer Reports review of microwave oven and saw that this model was listed as a "Best Buy" for its class. I definitely recommend it without hesitation. "Nice Looking - Performance OK", I have just one complaint. I eat a frozen bagel every day for breakfast and usually use the defrost function on a microwave to defrost and warm it up. I've tried EVERYTHING to get this perfect, and no matter which function I use, I end up with hard spots in the bagel. I've tried about 12 different configurations including turbo-defrost, full power, 20%, 30%, sensor defrost, and sensor cook. NOTHING works on my bagel and frankly that is why I bought this microwave. The invection cooking was supposed to prevent the hard spots, but it doesn't. UPDATE: 4/19/08. This microwave interferes with the touch on lamps in my bedroom. The static interference from the microwave turns both nightstand lights in the bedroom on everytime we use it. Other than the mysteriously cooked bagel, the microwave is fine on other things I've cooked. ![]() |
