"Great Fan!"
Bought this fan for our kitchen since we don't have central A/C. Works great to cool things down a bit. Only issue was because of it's size it doesn't clip to the cabinet lip on the bottom of the top cabinets, so we clip it to an open cabinet door.

"Nice air movement, convienent mounting, waaay too noisy on high speed"
Performance:
Moves air very well on high speed, but is loud. Noise may be acceptable for a busy office or workshop, but is not acceptable for a quiet room in your home.
Low speed is quiet but is only good for moving air in very small areas.
Clip build quality is very solid.

Features:
Great mounting options with clip, base, or screw options.
Doesn't oscillate (big drawback for me).
Only two speeds: loud and powerful or quiet and weak.

Size:
It's smaller than a normal tabletop fan, but isn't as small as the pictures may lead you to believe. It's about 2/3 the size of a normal tabletop fan.

Value:
Normal price is way too high in my opinion, especially considering the company recently packed up their factory and went to China for production.

Looks:
All plastic modern industrial look. Not likely to fit in with your living room decor. Would fit in fine in an office or workshop.

Cleanability:
Fans that are used frequently need frequent dusting. The front grill is held on with a screw and four clips that don't look like they will hold up well to much disassembly/reassembly. The rear grill is part of the motor and cannot be removed from the fan for cleaning. Deep plastic grill will be tough to clean thoroughly.

Drawbacks summary:
High speed is too loud for use in a quiet home environment.
Price.
Not easy to clean.

Conclusion:
If you want a lot of air movement in one direction in a moderately noisy environment this thing is perfect. If you want to add cooling comfort to a quiet room this is a poor choice.

"great fan, a bit pricey but this is a good company -- its worth it."
ive had one of these break on me, after trying to clip it on a desk. they move air well, a bit loud on highest setting but after initial cool down i can usually go back to the lower one. wish it were a little cheaper, but the company does stand by its product so thats probably what youre payin for. vornado shipped me a replacement absolutely free of charge, all i needed to give em were my fan serial numbers n shipping address. i was within warranty. no hassle.

"A Vornado with Versatility"
This is an excellent fan. No other brand I've encountered moves so much air. I have owned two other Vornados for several years (the 530 model) and wanted something similar, but with clip-on capabilities. Since I was using it for evaporative cooling on a reef aquarium it also had to be made of corrosion resistant plastic. The 540-B fit the bill. This fan - like other Vornados - is not for the faint of heart. It's powerful, moves a massive amount of air and as such could not be described as quiet. The clip is unbelievably strong and the construction of the entire unit is of superior quality. It's the same size as the 530 model but has 2 instead of 3 speeds. If you are looking for a relatively small fan that moves a lot of air and can be clipped on to just about anything, then the Vornado 530-B is the fan for you.

"Powerful!!!"
This "Air Circulator" is in a league of its own. It is extremely powerful. I am very pleased. My only concern is with the durability of the clamp. It doesn't seem to be as well made as the rest of the air circulator. But for the last 30 days, it has been just fine.

What our customer's say!

"A really COOL item", I love this product, it's very efficient and really does what it's supposed to. I use it on the treadmill and it is the only one I have found on the market that fits perfectly as the handle bars on my machine are very thick. It enables me to work out in a lot more comfort, it is a little noisy on the higher speed but I find most times the lower one is sufficient and I have the TV switched on anyway so this doesn't bother me at all. I can thoroughly recommend this product.

"Love it!", Great air circulator. Would recommend to anyone. As soon as you switch it on, you feel the air circulating. It's great for if you have a child on a top bunk bed. In the summer it gets hot high up and in the winter with the heater on, you cannot breathe up there, so it's a great way to keep the whole room one temperature.

"WARNING!! Don't be fooled! This isn't quiet!!", Ok I just got this loud little fan, the install was easy and that was it! I should have listened what others have said about the noise level.

I was expecting a lot about the noise because in the advert, it says bloody 'whisper quiet'!!!!!!!!!! for mother of airs. Seriously, who whispers like this loud? I can't even hear my own voice when I turn on the full speed.

It has 2 speed control buttons, low speed is just acceptable if you place it close to you but then the noise level is not quiet at all. And you don't even wanna touch the button of high speed or I just wanna call it Tsunami. It's so bloody loud whisper that if my window was opened, my neighbours can hear that i turned on the fan.

Pleeeeeease consider this carefully when you buy and don't be fooled by the word 'Whisper Quiet'. Cuz that whisper could make you a deaf.

"Great Fan!", Very nice fan. The clip is very sturdy and clamps on securely. Would be perfect if the fan had a medium speed (only has two speeds high and low).

"Awesome fan", I bought this fan for my husband to use at his office desk. He occupies a typical State Worker cubicle and the air flow in it is very bad. This little fan did the job. He says it is quiet, circulates the air and doesn't blow the papers from his desk.

"Great on a treadmill", I clipped this fan to my treadmill and it works great. The clip is strong and the fan hasn't moved at all. The fan also is strong and keeps me cool during my workout. I highly recommend it.

"Great Heavy Duty Fan", Popped this fan on my treadmill and it works wonders. Clamp is nice and tight and sturdy. I can get up to 10 mph which is pretty stressful with lots of vibration and the fans hold tight. This is it on "high". Can get noisy, but on a treadmill while running no concern. It isn't noisy enough to drown out music or tv on treadmill. The "low" setting is nice and quiet, great while walking.

The "high" is a brisk breeze enough to keep me cool at those speeds. The "low" perfect for walking or cool-down.

Enjoy!!!

"The only thing bigger than this fan is it's price. Powerful, but huge for a clip on. Good for a garage, but not a bed.", When my last clip-on fan finally bit the dust after quite a few years, I thought I may have outgrown my night-time hotness and wouldn't need one. But alas, as much as I tried to deny it, I was as hot as ever and had to look for another fan for my headboard.
So onto Amazon.com I went and looked up all the options for clip-on fans that I could easily attach to the headboard of my bed. I double-checked my research on a couple of other sites and narrowed it down to two.. one of which was the Vornado 540B. I was seduced by the Vornado's reputation for power and it's ability to move so much air around in such a small package.

After purchasing the fan, I realized that small is a relative term. It's true that the 540B is small... when compared to an industrial sized air conditioning fan that's housed in it's own room and easily cools 37 floors in an office building. You may be able to get away with calling it small if you compare it to one of those home A/C units that sits outside on a slab of concrete. But, compared to other clip-on fans, this thing is huge.

When I first got the fan and saw the size of the box, I was all excited and thought, "Wow, this thing sure is packed well!" Thinking that the rather large size of the box contained extra packing material to keep this marvel of technology safe during shipping, I was a little taken aback when I opened the box and removed the (still well packaged) fan. That's when I realized it was bigger than my head!

I thought that maybe it just looked large and anyways, it will be clipped on to the headboard and once there, it won't be noticeable at all. Well, the clip is certainly very strong and durable so I had no problem clipping it to the thick part of my headboard.. well, it took two hands to open the clip. I'd definitely recommend keeping it away from small children and animals while it's open or it may end up as one of those bear traps in the woods and clamp down tight if it slips from your hands.

Once the fan was secured on my headboard, I turned it on and enjoyed the breeze it produced at the low setting. It definitely would do the job of keeping me cool on most nights. I then tried the hi setting and though it gave me the assurance that I'd be able to stay cool even on the warmest nights, I could no longer hear the trash truck that was emptying the trash bin right outside my window. And I think my wife tried calling to me from across the bed, but all I could see was her mouth moving and arms flailing as she tried to stay upright in the face of hurricane force winds that came out of this little Vornado!

Well, I ended up returning the fan to Amazon. A very painless and easy process by the way. My decision was made final when I went to get into bed that night and I felt as though a third person was in bed with us. It wasn't that bad actually, but the fan is certainly way too large in my opinion to act as a practical headboard fan.

It's certainly a powerful fan and quiet on the low setting. It would work well in a more open space like a garage or workshop, or perhaps even on a canopy bed where you can place it away from your headboard and head some. I kept feeling that I'd wake up and bump my head on it, being so close to my head.

"Too large, too loud", Was hoping to find a fan to clip to bedside to provide comfort while sleeping, however, this fan's two settings made it such that it would either blow too little or be too loud and intense. Its size also proved difficult to deal with.

In the end, I found that Holmes HACP7W 7-Inch Clip-On Personal Fan was what I was seeking.

"Moves a lot of air and very quiet", I purchased the Vornado 540B for my RV, to move air around a bit. The fan actually moves a large amount of air, and it does so very quietly. Since people may be trying to talk and enjoy themselves, the fan noise was important, and while not completely silent, the noise is not very bothersome at all, just a bit of background. The clip is really well done, which allows us to move it around the RV with ease. From the picture, it looks like a normal squeeze clip... but it is not. The jaws are on hinges, so they can stay flat at nearly any angle as they are opened up. This allows it to grip shelves and chairbacks, and just about anything else. The spring in the clip is amazingly strong, which is needed since the fan is no featherweight. All in all, it's a Vornado and it maintains all the things people like Vornado's for. Not bad at all.
