Others say...
"Great for crosstrainer" This fan has a stout, heavy-duty clip that allows for fastening to the thick surfaces such as the handle bars of my Precor crosstrainer. I go for hours on end on my crosstrainer, and this handy fan lets me do so in comfort. It has two settings; low providing a nice, gentle breeze pretty much silently, and high for exercise-extending cool. Its a bit loud, more like a floor-fan, on the high setting, but I wouldn't hear a bomb going off with my ear bud music anyway :) I was worried that the clip wouldn't work well on my crosstrainer because the trainer's bars are so thick, but no problem with this fan's attachment which has a grippy rubber surface to boot. No worries about scratching the finish with that clip. The fan head swivels and doesn't drift around, though I have found that, once set, I don't have to mess with it as the air volume on high covers me just fine when properly set. And this fan looks nice. Really, it looks built-in to my Precor. Just side notes/tips: --------------------- My initial worries about the handlebars being too thick came from trying to get a nice, bolt-on drink holder to replace my crappy Velcro setup. Typical drink holders only fit skinny bars, and I pretty much expected this fan to follow suit. Thankfully, it worked just fine. If you are looking for a stable, bolt-on ( C-clamp kinda things) drink holder for your thick-bars, check out drink holders for wheelchairs at an online med supply company. They work great!! I have two on mine, and it effectively doubled my exercise time. I took a pic (with a lame cell phone) of them and this fan on mine & posted in case you want a peek. HTH! Music + lots of cool liquids + THIS MOST EXCELLENT FAN = a very fun exercise experience! YMMV, depending on your machine, but if its a fit, you will celebrate every time you crank it and go! :) "A true value and worth the price" Design: Great. The swivel is very sturdy and has a ball detent built-in that clicks as the swivel rotates around its axis. The fan body is very robust and not cheap feeling or looking. The switch is high quality and very easy to find and operate rocker type switch. The clamp is great. Both sides of the clamp have rubber pads on its feet. This should help prevent destroying what the fan is clamped to and give it extra friction to prevent the fan from moving when it is clamped. The clamp will also automatically adjust to any thickness material as both rubber feet stay parallel and fully contact the clamped surface. It does not pinch like a clothes pin. Very nice attention to detail. It also has two slots that allow the fan to be wall mount. Noise: Very Good. Hi spped is loud but moves a lot of air. Low speed is quiet and moves a decent amount of air. In my opinion low speed is perfect for keeping some cool at night while they sleep. Overall. Very good fan. I bought this fan to be used on the upper bunk of a child's bunk bed. I am sure that it will last a long time and that the child is safe too. A true value. "Heavy duty clip" I purchased this fan to specifically clip to my treadmill. I'm not particularly impressed that it doesn't have a middle speed -- it's either low or REALLY high. But what does impress me is the industrial clip. I can attach this fan to my treadmill bar (which is round and almost 2 inches thick) and it holds like a rock. It has to be one of the most ingenious designs for a clip fan out there. It looks like a regular clamp, but the bottom half is actually on a hinge, so you can attach it to metal tubing or anything else that's not perfectly flat. For this reason alone, I really like the fan and will keep it. As others have mentioned, the high speed is rather loud and will blow your socks off. But the low speed is extremely quite and works well if you're right next to the fan. If you need a clip fan for something that is not the standard shape, this should work well for you. FYI, I contacted Vornado and they said that both clip models are being discontinued. I'm glad I snatched one up before they are completely gone. "Great Little Fan" I own 3 other Vornado fans and think they are the BEST fans I've ever owned; powerful, quiet and unbelievably long-lived (15 years running 24/365 for my first one!) This fan is built like its large brothers and exhibits all of their positive attributes. If you need to move allot of air with a small, quiet fan mounted in a "difficult" position, this is the unit to purchase. "A really COOL item" I love this product, it's very efficient and really does what it's supposed to. I use it on the treadmill and it is the only one I have found on the market that fits perfectly as the handle bars on my machine are very thick. It enables me to work out in a lot more comfort, it is a little noisy on the higher speed but I find most times the lower one is sufficient and I have the TV switched on anyway so this doesn't bother me at all. I can thoroughly recommend this product.

What our customer's say! "Great For Over-The-Road Trucker!", My husband is an over-the-road trucker, and the a/c in the company truck has a computer problem they can't seem to get fixed. I bought this fan to keep the air circulating in the cab since the a/c in the sleeping area still works, and he says it moves a lot of air on the high setting and he doesn't find it noisy. The big clip allows for a sturdy mount, too. "The not-so-noisy little fan that can!", You cannot go wrong with a Vornado, period! I can understand both the positive & negative feedback about the newer fan's noise levels. It is noisier than Vornados have been historically - my ten year old large room fan is so quiet, I have to go look at it sometimes to be sure it is on. It does a fabulous job circulating air rather than blowing blasts of air in our faces and keeps the house much cooler. Recently, I replaced the Vornado I used in my bedroom room with the Vornado 530B, it's newer version. Only having 3 set speeds is irritating and it does make much more noise than its predecessor - but much more noise in an Vornado is still much less than any other fan I've used. Vornado makes fabulous fans of all sizes and they back up their products completely. I had a fan die because I didn't clean it properly. I sent it back and they cleaned it and got it runing again perfectly at no charge. They called it a warranty repair, though I know I'd had it at least 10 years. They are good people who keep their word. "All or nothing", This is a two-speed fan. On low, it is quiet but doesn't move much air. On high, it's pretty loud, but it moves a pretty decent amount of air. There really is no in-between. The clip works pretty well. But remember the fan assembly is big. That limits the places you can set it up. "Far from perfect", The rachet like positioning is too far apart between settings. Maybe it's needed due to stability / rigidity of the whole unit. But I wish many times that there was in-between settings. The I/II/OFF switch should be replaced by infinite-control rheostat for a long time already. Every one finds I too weak & II too powerful/noisy. Can't believe that Vornado is still doing this in 2010. Otherwise, this fan is very well-made, II is very powerful. Wind pattern is one-of-a-kind Vornado-ish. But it's far from perfect. "Great white noise fan", I purchased this fan to cool the area above my bed in my dorm room. It has a strong clip and makes a great noise to fall asleep too. It is sufficiently powerful to cool off my small area, and should be good for any medium sized room. Tilts in every direction as advertised. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Love it!", Great air circulator. Would recommend to anyone. As soon as you switch it on, you feel the air circulating. It's great for if you have a child on a top bunk bed. In the summer it gets hot high up and in the winter with the heater on, you cannot breathe up there, so it's a great way to keep the whole room one temperature. "WARNING!! Don't be fooled! This isn't quiet!!", Ok I just got this loud little fan, the install was easy and that was it! I should have listened what others have said about the noise level. I was expecting a lot about the noise because in the advert, it says bloody 'whisper quiet'!!!!!!!!!! for mother of airs. Seriously, who whispers like this loud? I can't even hear my own voice when I turn on the full speed. It has 2 speed control buttons, low speed is just acceptable if you place it close to you but then the noise level is not quiet at all. And you don't even wanna touch the button of high speed or I just wanna call it Tsunami. It's so bloody loud whisper that if my window was opened, my neighbours can hear that i turned on the fan. Pleeeeeease consider this carefully when you buy and don't be fooled by the word 'Whisper Quiet'. Cuz that whisper could make you a deaf. "Great Fan!", Very nice fan. The clip is very sturdy and clamps on securely. Would be perfect if the fan had a medium speed (only has two speeds high and low). "Awesome fan", I bought this fan for my husband to use at his office desk. He occupies a typical State Worker cubicle and the air flow in it is very bad. This little fan did the job. He says it is quiet, circulates the air and doesn't blow the papers from his desk. "Great Fan!", Bought this fan for our kitchen since we don't have central A/C. Works great to cool things down a bit. Only issue was because of it's size it doesn't clip to the cabinet lip on the bottom of the top cabinets, so we clip it to an open cabinet door. ![]() |
