"SKEPTIC TO BELIEVER"
I cannot give the Dirt Dog enough praise! As a single Dad and trying to keep up with work, house, yard, dog and 10 year old, I needed some help. Bless the single parents out there! My house only has tile and wood floors. After reading review after review saying the dirt dog was excellent on both, I had to order one. I wake up, get me and the daughter ready, feed the dog and turn on the Dirt Dog. When I come back from work we empty the Dirt Dog cleaning bin and Whoooooooo Doggggy! First time I used it I thought it had swept up the dog. I really didn't think my floors where that dirty! My daughter and I watched it for half an hour the first time sitting on the couch as it did it's job. My daughter noticed a little bug that was making it's way across the living room. The Dirt Dog just missed it on the first pass. We were screaming and yelling at the Dirt Dog to get it. We would yell "left" and the little Dirt Dog went right. We yelled "U-Turn" and it would go straight. The little bug was almost to safety when the Dirt Dog turned around like it was on a search and destroy mission and.........bug gone! I live in the desert so sand and dog hair are the challenges for our Dirt Dog (the occasional little bug)and all three are no problem! I am getting one for my garage next and then another for the upstairs. Then I am going to try the Scooba. This isn't going to completely keep you from pulling out the vacumm cleaner for areas the Dirt Dog cant get into, but for everyday cleaning .....Nice!! The battery lasts for almost 2 hours on mine after a few charging cycles were complete.I have never experienced a problem with our Dirt Dog yet. The only negative we have experienced is that my daughter is very upset that she doesn't get paid allowance for sweeping the floors downstairs anymore! She would like to see a poop patrol Irobot for our dog though! If your on the fence about this product, I recommend you purchase it! I don't think you will be disappointed. I know I am not!

"Does a great job"
Does a great job and is a lot of fun to watch. So far it hasn't saved me much time because I watch it a lot, but it cleans in places that a broom can't. The little side brushes pick up cat hair from around the table legs that you can't even notice with the naked eye.

I also turned it loose on my bedroom carpet and under the bed it went. It was a lot easier than trying to shove a vacuum under and it works fine on short nap carpet.

I'm very fond of it and might just buy some for Christmas gifts.

"Simply did not work properly"
I bought the Dirt Dog to help keep my hardwood floors clean of cat hair, cat litter, and dust. I chose the Dirt Dog over the regular Roombas because it was less expensive and because of all the rave reviews it received on Amazon.com. I was so unhappy with the Dirt Dog's performance that I sent it back the week after I received it.

It simply did not do what it was supposed to do. The battery life was relatively short and the charge ran out long before my small living room floor was clean. Despite repeated passes over the area, it picked up only about half of the cat hair, litter, etc. It was not a case of the bin being too full because it didn't work well even when the bin was completely empty. There were other annoyances -- it's really noisy and it crashes into things like wood furniture hard enough to leave a little dent. The main complaint, however, was that at best it picked up half of the dirt and hair.

Amazon customer service was very helpful in processing the return. I now have a Roomba 560 and am much happier with it -- the vacuum works great, it's a little quieter, and it has sensors that slow it down a little when it nears a wall or piece of furniture. My advice is to pay a little more and get a real Roomba.

"roomba rocks"
The dirt dog is different to the roomba in the way it is more of a floor sweeper than a vacuum. It picks up drywall chips, dog toy bits, screws and dirt way better than a roomba "indoor" type. This is by no means a shop vac. Dont let it near water or muck as it will still get damaged as would any auto home chore machine.
This guy keeps my basement in great shape while my discovery runs the upstairs.
recommended for all who do projects in the basement or garage, it will also find those pesky screws and parts that have been lost for years as it goes under the lowest shelves and bases.
and remember, If you spend more time watching your roomba vacuum than you would actually doing the vacuuming, you are an addict!

"As good or better than roomba with the Vaccum"
I love this product. I have had two other roomba's in the past, Scheduler and Silver. Eventhough the dirt dog does not have the vacuum on the collection bin, I think it picks up dust and other small particles better. This one is far better than the older models.

What our customer's say!

"The Dirt Dog", This is an Excellent item for a Bachelor Pad. I turn the robot on before I go to work (making sure any obstacles, rugs, cords are off the floor) and when I get home the hardwood floors and tiles are fully swept! (I dont have any carpet) It's amazing how much dirt this thing collects because the floors never look that dirty but when you empty the bin where it collects the dirt you will be shocked at how much stuff this thing will find. Once in a great while it will get fully caught on something so I would recommend that you supervise it the first day you turn it on to learn what to move out of its way before leaving it alone to do the work.

The one downfall is that it's kind of loud but thats not an issue if you turn it on before you leave the house =)

"I love it!", I absolutely love my Dirt Dog. I find myself talking to it. No, I am not a nut case, but I do love my Dirt Dog! I do not use it in my garage, instead I use it in my house. I have a two story house and it cleans my upstairs and my Roomba cleans my downstairs. I did originally purchase it for my patio and garage, but it does such a good job in the house that I am considering purchasing another one for my patio/garage. If something happened to it, I would definitely have to replace it. I have told all my friends about it. If you are thinking about purchasing one, go for it. You won't regret it and "NO" I do not work for Irobotic.

"Touchy Little Dog", I have two other iRobot products: a vacuum and a mop. I liked them well enough to try this puppy out in my garage. I bought the docking charger and the scheduling remote, too. The ease of good and good engineering is not quite there. The Dirt Dog self-docks only after a few tries. Programming is a bit tricky. You have to stand in front of the docking station to block its IR signal in order to use the remote(!?) It often got itself stuck behind a bicycle or something else. However, as far as automatic cleaning goes, it does a great job. It picks up dust, litter, leaves and most small stuff. Emptying the hopper is a cinch--much easier than on iRobot's other products. You have to clear the floor of LOTS of stuff, or the machine can't reach places, knocks things over, or gets stuck. Still, you have meaning to clean up the floor anyway, right? So I recommend the product, but you have to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the machine.

"Works great in the shop and garage", I am very pleased with my Dirt Dog. It works great on saw dust in the shop and leaves and dirt in the garage. It has plenty of battery life to clean the my whole two car garage plus the shop.

"iRobot Dirt Dog is awesome", Use this little worker in the garage and it will do the job! You do have to move out anything with strings or fringe-like material, but other than that it will perform nicely. We even put down a couple of nuts and bolts to see its real strength and it picked them up no prob.

Yes I would recommend this to anyone wanting a clean garage floor!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"A great little helper", I have owned my Dirt Dog for a couple of months now, and just thought that I would share a quick review.

This thing cleans very well. All it does is brush the floor, but I have a great dane, miniature schnauzer, and cocker spaniel, so I need all the help I can get.

My floor by the back door is tile, and I let this guy brush it daily to pick up the grass the dogs track in. It does this job wonderfully. I also use it to sweep up the kitchen and dining room tile, and it picks up whatever mess is there better than I can do sweeping. The biggest help this little guy provides is cleaning my extra bathroom. My roommate is asian, and she has long, thick black hair, and it gathers in the corners of the bathroom quick. This guy has no problem running through there and picking it up for me. It also does what it is supposed to do, clean the garage, very well. I have a couch in my garage and I was shocked at how much stuff was under it when this guy was through. It does its job VERY well.

The only problem I have is that it is loud. I mean, louder than my Dyson, and it doesn't even have a vacuum. Maybe mine is the exception, but I can't even turn it on while I'm trying to sleep. I just use it while I'm not watching tv or anything, or when I run to the store. But it's still something to think about.

"great product", The dirt dog does what it say cleaning my garage and my veranda.
Set it and forget it.

"Amazing!", My dad (who is in love with his regular Roomba) bought me this as a gift, and it is AMAZING. I have three cats and a rabbit, so my den needs a lot of heavy-duty vacuuming. All of them shed like crazy and use litter boxes, and the rabbit likes to throw his food and hay all over the floor. (And trust me, hay is one of the most difficult things to vacuum off of a rug.) The Dirt Dog cleans it all up with no problem whatsoever. I have used it on wood, tile, rug, and carpet now, and it works great on all surfaces. I would reccommend getting some of the lighthouses/walls though.

"dirt dog is GREAT for dogs!!!! ", We have 2 dogs and tile floors. This works great on cleaning up the hair withought getting clogged! I highly recommend it for anyone with hard floors and dog hair to clean up. It does not work well on carpet, though. I tried to use it on carpet and it does not recognize that there is a ledge so it flew off the stairs (it's ok!).

"Love it", I love this product! It's not as good as your regular vacuum, but it is perfect for all the time usage. We have 2 dogs and a cat. I use this at least once a week. It's amazing all the hair it gets after only a day or two! It goes under big shelves, and our couch! - Places we don't vacuum that often. It is noisy, but I put this on before I go out, or while I'm in another room. You really just charge, and press the clean button! The dust pan is not real big. But for me, running the dirt dog once a week is fine. - If I don't vacuum for a while, the pan will fill up and not collect the dirt. I still love emptying the dust pan and seeing how much it picks up. There is a light to tell you how much charge is left. The light changes as it runs. I can do my kitchen, living room and dining room on one charge. Also, you can buy a 'virtual wall' to prevent the dirt dog from going into places you don't want it to go. - I just use a basket or lay a chair on it's side to block it from going where I don't want it to - cheaper than the lasers. All in all - I love this product. If I was Oprah, I'd put it on my favorite things and give one to everyone!
