All in all, I like this timer/thermometer. I like that it has both a timer and a thermometer, that comes in handy. It works fine on the grill and after owning it for many months, it hasn't malfunctioned yet.
The only problem is that it doesn't turn off. It's always on, using the battery. There is no on/off switch and I find that very strange.
Edited to add: This thermometer broke exactly 6 months from the date of purchase. The timer still works but the thermometer now says either "low" or 'Hi" and doesn't work at all. I'm going to see if Polder will replace the cord.

I'm surprised no one else has pointed out that you can't turn it off except by removing the batteries, an unecessary inconvenience.
For this reason I wouldn't give it a good rating.

This is a good product for the price . Easy to use intuitive controls , display easy to read , temperature is accurate . There is no on/off button but this isn't a big deal as the battery will probably still last for years even with it always on .

You can set the alarm to go off when it reaches whatever temperature you set it for and the alarm is nice and loud . The reason I got this was for yogurt making . I wanted to have an alarm to let me know when the milk had cooled to the proper temperature instead of having to check it every 15 minutes . One problem though : You can only use the temperature alarm feature when going *UP TO* a temperature . If you have the milk at 180 degrees and set the temperature alarm to go off at 115 degrees the alarm goes off immediately because the temp has already reached or surpassed 115 degrees . In other words this thermometer is worthless for what I had hoped to use it for . You cannot set the temperature alarm to *GO DOWN TO* a given temperature which is too bad . Still, this is a well built easy to use thermometer ... just not what I had hoped for.

Well my research really paid off this time! This thing is great! VERY Accurate and has great features! I'm an avid tea drinker, and when you use good tea, you must use accurate time an temperature... this solves both bumps in the road! There are other thermometer's out there but this bargin is the best. It features a 43" long wire, with a long stainless steel probe at the end! Also the back of the thermometer is magnettic so you can stick it right on the stove! This also features a count-down timer, and a quite loud temperature alarm! This way you can lounge around, check the temperature without opening the oven, and not burn yourself checking anything! This thermometer also comes with a great clamp that does not affect the reading of the probe! I can put it right on the tea pot i boil my water in! GREAT INVESTMENT!!!
Downfalls.... No back light!! GOSH this would help so much!
No on/off feature, this is thermometer is always on! I figured i'd put use and use it as an air temperature gauge, haha.
Also i can see it breaking if you drop it... it's not flimsy at all, but it's not steal!

Wish i could give it a 4.5 but i'm stuck on this 5 star only rating! This is a best buy for tea lovers, and home chefs!
