Others say...

"pretty good, not great"
Hard to remove the bottom blade when you're done - it all gets slippery. The design could be worked on more overall.

"Great for smoothies and split pea soup"
Bought this to make smoothies, but I soon realized that it is a hefty device. In less than a minute it was able to blend up split peas and ham to make a fantastic soup!

"Very Happy...the smartstick is great!"
I purchased the smartstick for my husbands birthday a month ago and we have used it about 15 times so far. I chose it because it had the stainless steel shaft (which is very sturdy) and the 200-watt motor (vs. the 100-watt other brand at a similar pricepoint). We have made baby food, sauces, mashed potatoes and soups with it both in the cup it comes in and in the pot on the stove. It is super powerful and does the job great...no lumps and very quick. I really appreciate that it comes apart for easy cleaning. I didn't think we really needed this item because we have a food processor but now that we have it I love it and will use it all the time.

"Bought an additional unit"
After using this hand blender for a couple of years, for some reason (late night Shopping Network) I decided to give it to my aunt and bought another brand (from some famous chef). Well, last month I put my famous chef's blender away and bought another one of these Cuisinarts. It's compact size makes it easy to maneuver, the shaft clicks out for easy washing and it is very reliable. I am not giving this one away.

"Best Kitchen Tool Ever"
This is the best kitchen tool I have ever purchased. It is also really helping me to stay on a diet as mixing up protein drinks with easy cleanup is great. Also makes great shakes and malts and mixes everything you can imagine. Simple, simple to clean unlike blenders.

What our customer's say!

"Perfect for smoothies and milkshakes!!", This is an awesome immersion blender! I bought this just to have a quick way to make smoothies and milkshakes for me and the kids, and it has been such a time saver! You can measure your fruit for your smoothie right in the mixing cup and you have a perfectly blended shake in seconds! I love the fact that the mixing piece detaches from the handle. Makes clean-up a cinch too. I'm sure we'll find other uses for it around the kitchen. It is so handy!

"This hand blender is easy and fun to use!", This hand blender is awesome! I should have bought one earlier! I made a delicious smoothie this morning and it's such an easier clean-up job than a regular, bulky blender! Perfect for individuals. Can't wait until I try to make gravy and soups!

"Awesome product", I love this immersion blender. I can make smoothies and soups daily and it makes fast work of the prep. It's nice to be able to control the consistency. Highly recommend. Easy to clean.

"stick mixer", This is a real POWER mixer. How did I get along without it. Has my highest
praise. A great gift item.
Try this recipe:

Garlic Soup
Into a covered skillet place:
one head of garlic unpeeled
10 baby carrots diced
one potato diced
5 pieces of cauliflower
Put plenty of EVOO over all the veggies and the garlic.
Put in oven at 300 degrees for 1 hour.
Remove from oven -let cool- squeeze garlic out of paper skins and discard skins.
Put all into a 2 quart boiler with 2 cups chicken or beef broth and simmer 10 minutes. Using your stick blender reduce everything to a pureed soup. Note if you want a thicker soup reduce the amount of broth or add a cup of cooked rice and puree. Add salt and pepper---Enjoy!Optional:1/2 tsp cumin and 1/2 tsp cayenne.

"Nice Power", I've read the reviews and I liked the price. After a couple of weeks worth of research (reading reviews and looking at other handblenders at Target and Macy's home) I decided to buy the smartstick. I've owned it for over a month and I am impressed overall by this product.

Pros:
-It feels very sturdy in your hands
-Great product for the price
-Power (it crushes ice very well)

Cons:
-Only one speed

"Terrific blender", My old cheapo immersion blender gave out and I splurged on this. Boy am I glad! This blender is not only beautifully designed, it is also a power horse! I can now make homemade mayo (using the nifty cup attachment) in less than 30 seconds and puree a pot of soup in a minute or so. An added plus is that it comes apart, so the blades can be easily cleaned, and the whole thing is easier to store in a cupboard. I could not be happier with this purchase.

"Don't be fooled by brand name - it's a piece of junk", I thought by buying a higher end product I would get a decent product but NO, this blender is a piece of junk. The first one broke within six weeks of purchase with daily use. I was able to return for a new one and that one also broke in about four weeks of almost daily use. The motor body does not fully snap into the accesory being used after time and it becomes worthless.

Such a waste of money!

"handheld blender rocks", Love it. Arrived in a timely fashion, works as stated. Can't live without one. You shouldn't either. My old one, a Braun, lasted 14 years. I hope this one lasts that long as well. Love the feature that you can remove the shaft.
Great price. Strong motor.

"Ok for about 9 months", I got this for soapmaking. It's liquid so it's not too thick and shouldn't really stress the motor. It worked well (except for the bell scratching my pots, but it's stainless steel so that's how it goes) until about the 9th month.
Then it started rattling like something was loose inside. It wasn't the blade, it's actually inside, it seems like the vibration over the months caused something to loosen up.
There's no point in returning it because it's not cost effective. Just wanted others to be aware that it won't last out year. I only used mine for liquid and only about once a week. No durability :(

"Do not use with anything hard and dry", I tried to grind cat dry food with this and the motor burned out. I did not see any warning against this in the instructions. I returned the blender to Bed Bath and Beyond and they replaced it, no questions asked. They did require a receipt with a date within the warranty period.

This is a wonderful blender if you don't try to do heavy duty grinding with it - like the cat kibble that I tried to grind up. Other food items NOT TO GRIND UP would be hard nuts like almonds, chunk salt, or anything that is as hard as a raw carrot.

I use this twice a day to grind up wet cat food for a cat that has lost most of her teeth. This works wonderfully. I just run the metal grinding part under the faucet and this cleans it up quickly.

This also solves the problem of how to make gravy that is not lumpy. Just put a few tablespoons of flour in the container with water and blend. Add this to what you are cooking. I struggled to make good gravy for 25 years - and this is the instant solution. Bravo for Cuisinart !!!

I work in the field of quality assurance. I was surprised that the instructions for using this product did not say what not to grind up with this blender. It is possible that other people who have posted that the blender broke on them may have done the same as I did and tried to grind up something that was beyond the capability of this motor.

I have been using this product twice a day for more than 6 months and it works wonderfully. This is an excellent product and reasonably priced.
