"Finally, A Vertical AC . . ."
You'd be surprised how difficult it can be to find an AC that will fit in a window with a 16 inch opening. Thanks to Amazon, I finally found one and it works GREAT!! Pretty easy to install if you don't let yourself get intimidated by the 50 step instruction book. My only but is the flimsy white plastic bit that they give you to fill up the rest of the window space. While it has a nice frame to slide into, I miss looking out that quarter of my window. I think I'll get some plexiglass to replace it. Regardless, it's a great AC that runs a lot quieter than others.

"Busted plug in"
When I received this item it had a busted plug in. It is a circut breaker plug in. It was cracked and I don't think it was from the shipping. I cut it off and put on a different plug and it works but it is not the plug in that is suposed to be on it. I wrote Amazon a email about it but did not receive an answer. I would probaly not buy another item like it from Amazon. Dean Boe dboe@rtconnect.net

"Arrived Damaged"
The A/C unit arrived damaged. The container was not properly padded at all, so it comes like this from the factory. The metal was bent. We had UPS pick it up and ship it back to Amazon.com. About 10 days later, Amazon refunded the money. I never got to see how the unit works. If they just put a little more care into packaging, I would have a brand new unit and Amazon would have their moeny!

"great a/c unit for a casement window"
If you have a casement window, the kind that opens out, this is the unit to buy, its quiet, and pretty easy to install, it comes with the bracket and framework to cover the rest of the open window, i used plexi-glass instead of the white cardboard but either way will work out. i recommend this unit for a casement window

"Casement air conditioner review"
I have been using the air conditioner for a few weeks. It cools efficiently and I am very pleased with it.

What our customer's say!

"Very Robust", A very good buy! I had to get a handyman to install this thing in my sliding window, and he built his own wooden frame for it rather than use the fairly flimsy metal and plastic one that comes with it, but once in the window and turned on - this thing is really robust. I have this cooling my whole first floor (about 500 square feet) and it does it very effectively. You can hear it when it's on, but it's not obnoxiously loud like other AC units I've had. Best of all, this unit is VERY energy efficient; my electric bill barely jumped once I started using it. I'm considering installing an attic fan and letting this one window AC unit cool my second floor too. It's that good. Highly recommended.

"Air Conditioner Arrived with Broken Fan", I ordered this AC unit and paid for expedited shipping, since I was having an operation and needed to have a way to keep my bedroom cool afterward. After paying a handyman to install the unit, when we arrived home to turn it on for the first time, the fan did not work, and therefore the AC did not cool the room. Frigidaire provided me with the names of 3 local service agents, however one is out of business and the others have a long delay before they can fix it. Fridgidaire did not make any attempt to help solve this problem. I would not buy another product from Fridgidaire, since they do not make customer service a priority, and provided no apology for their faulty product.

"Poor Packaging", I cannot give a review on how the product works since not only the original shipment came damaged, but the replacement unit also came damaged. After the second time I am requesting a refund. I read other reviews that the packaging was not very good and of course I thought they may have been the exceptions. But after two damaged units and seeing how the unit is protected I wish I had listened to reviews about bad packaging.

If you decide to order, make sure you do not cut plastic bands that keeps the top of the box connected to the bottom of the box. Otherwise if you have to return the unit, you will need lots of packing tape to keep the unit secure. The only thing connecting the bottom of the box to the rest of the box are the plastic bands. I'm crossing my fingers that the first unit I returned gets back to Amazon. I have scheduled the second unit to be pick up in the morning.

I really did want to try this unit out, but after two damaged units I'm just want my refund.

The package weight of the unit is about 100lbs.

"DOA. No quality control, no service", Got this through Amazon. Amazingly quick delivery even with free delivery option. However your mileage may vary. The unit arrived with stuck fan inside. The fan is made of plastic and to reduce noise they balance it by attaching small metall clips. The clips were attached so poorly, that fan simply stuck after producing a sequence of loud clicks.

I have called the Frigidaire and got a phone of their authorized warranty service provider. There is only one provider in Boston, MA area. Tried to call the company multiple times but was greeted by voice mail. No calls were returned.

Finally I have removed the cover and repaired the fan myself. However it is pretty obvious that people at Frigidaire plant did not ever try to turn the air conditioner on after it was assembled, or even worse - they knowingly packed faulty unit.

Otherwise it is just an average AC with performance and noise level you should expect from window mounted AC.

"This Model IS NOT Energy Star Rated!", The Amazon.com product description stated that this model was Energy Star rated and it is most definitely not. Only the 8,000 BTU unit is. Very disappointed that I have to go through the time and hassle of repacking and returning such a large and bulky item. To Amazon.com's credit, they responded promptly within an hour or so (on a Sunday no less) to my online return request, and said that because the product was not as advertised, that I will not have to pay for return shipping. I should also mention that we already own two of the 8,000 BTU units and they are MUCH quieter than this one. We'll see how the return process goes...

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Weird Clicking Noises at First", I just received this unit, had it installed... turned it on and left the house... Returned to a lovely cool room and the air-conditioner making annoying low level clicking sounds... I am hoping this might go away...The idea of having to remove the unit is almost too painful to contemplate...

UPDATE: After 3 days of constant use, the clicking noises on my unit stopped and the air conditioner has been working great every since. I wish they would let me add stars to my review, but I dont seem able to change my original rating...

"Quick Installation", Took only 20 Minutes to put in. Much easier than a regular A/C unit for large Windows that slide side to side. My window was a bit larger than allowable so I had to add plexiglass to fill the rest of the window. Works great and love the remote.

"Slider/casement window a/c", I am very pleased with my new a/c -- I was able to fit it right into my new Milguard window without removing the pane of glass. But, the measurements on the product were ambiguous because the actual opening needed was buried somewhere in the description. Also, the case on the front of the a/c is cracked and we didn't notice it until after we had installed it. On the whole I am quite pleased.

Looking forward to working in my office this summer in the cool air.

"Very good product", Stops short of greatness. All around very well made. ( Value, energy rating, not extemely loud, etc.).

"Solid unit, not extremely well designed", This is a large AC unit. We had it installed by a pro and I'm glad we did as it needed a fair bit of work. There are no side curtain pieces, so you have to have a horizontally sliding window or you have to build a box to fit into your casement window that will perfectly fit the unit.

Once installed, we've found that it has a some nice features; the energy saver feature is particularly helpful. The fan turns off when the compressor does, but then the fan cycles on for 2 minutes every 10 minutes to keep the air from stagnating in the room. The fan turns back on when the compressor kicks in based on the thermostat.

It doesn't do a very good job of dehumidifying and so would probably do better in a dryer climate than the San Francisco Bay Area, which is where we are.
