Others say...
"Efficient, does the job" for under $20 it's hard to fault this filter. It filters more different things than the Brita does... if the Brita meets your needs, buy it. I like the extra assurance and have never had a problem with speed of filtering unless the cartridge is old. It's been sitting in the door of my refrigerator for over a year now, quietly doing it's job. "Pur filter is slow" This tiny pitcher takes over 8 hours sometimes to filter a load of water. It gets a bonus star because I can pour it while it's still filtering, by holding the lid down with my hand. EDIT 11-28-2007: I bought a replacement Pur filter at Target. This one has a hole in the top of it that is supposed to improve water flow, and it sure does -- I can get two 8oz glasses of water out of it in less than 5 mins. I hope it's filtering properly, at that speed (it does taste good). So I'll leave my review at 2 stars until it becomes apparent that this pitcher is shipping with the improved filter, rather than the old slow one. "Lousy version of a previously good product." This pitcher uses the CRF 950Z element. The CRF950Z replaces the CRF950, which worked for us for years. The Z has no indicator, so you have to guess as to when to replace it. This is quite difficult if your consumption and household varies. In addition, it stops flowing quite often. Sometimes flow can be reinstated by banging, shaking, or removing it and shaking it. Sometimes not. Due to the non-availability of the old style filters, my Pur pitcher went in the trash and we are now using a Brita.

What our customer's say! "Tastes great less filling", We have used the pur filtration systems for years now and they always make great tasting water. I would recommend the pitcher, the faucet contraption or the the camping pump to anyone. "I hope you have time on your hands!", My family has used a Pur pitcher for at least a decade (and a Brita before that) and lately I just got fed up with the Pur. The last 2 filters we bought are so slow to filter the water, sometimes it sits in the top for hours. Then when you forget to wait and try to pour, the lid pops off and water spills everywhere. A waste of time and money. You should try the Clear2O Premium Water Filtration Pitcher, it's perfect! "Brita review", I like the Brita water pitcher very much. The size is just right for storing on the top shelf of my refrigerator, and the filtering is quick enough for a refill. The one thing I suggest is don't try to pour from the pitcher right after filling it because the water from the top compartment ends up on the counter. This seems obvious - I should have seen this coming. S. "CRACK! Goes the weasel", (This is based on an experience with the same pitcher, but with an LED thing in the lid) I second what the other reviewer said...it cracks on its own...the worst part is, PUR said it's not covered under warranty because it's a "wear and tear" item. It sits in the fridge... They kept me going in circles and after the 30 day satisfaction guarantee expired, they then told me I could have returned it within the first 30 days but now it's too late. For a product based on the razor/razor-blade business model (I'm sure the real money for them is made from the filters, not the pitchers), this is a horrible way for them to deal with the situation. Oh, and I had another one leak within a few weeks. The water is makes is great, but if I wanted crack I'd either call a cable tech/plumber guy over or go to Columbia. "Its ok", Its better than nothing. The good things I notice is that it does filter water. Thats pretty much it. As far as how long the filter lasts, I would say 3-4 months. The main problem I have is having to refill the thing. In fact, its pretty much the reason I want to switch to the faucet mount. You pretty much have to refill it every two glasses of water if you want to keep it full. ![]()
