"Good quality"
Very good product with excellent display and visible controls. Good size for a larger family

"Cuisine on the Go!"
Having spilled at least two slow cookers in two different cars over the years, I wanted one that I could transport to potlucks or take with me on long trips in order to have hot food and not have to stop at a fast food place or coffee shop. Cooker arrived promptly, everything was intact. Seems attractive and generous size. The electronic cooking features are fun to use. I especially like the feature that turns the cooker off after 14 hours for extra safety and the keep warm feature, since I always do several different things at once losing track of time. I made a Beef Roast on the timer setting. Turned out very well. Have not used the probe feature. Have not transported the cooker yet. Overall good appliance. You still have to brown your meat in a separate pan, but it says you can put the crock in the oven or store your food in it in the frig (not tried that out yet).

"Not Really all that good"
First of all the "programming" feature is too limited to be classified as such. You can set TIME and TEMP...that's all. So if you want to switch from High temp to low then start all over with programming.
During the FOURTH time we used it the pot developed a crack along the bottom edge. Fortunately it did not open enough to leak so the meal was not lost.
The size and shape are quite good for doing two chickens or a large meal.

"It cooks, but..."
I have used it three times. The first time, I tried to brown a chicken in the ceramic insert. I thought it would be like cooking in Corningware. No, it shattered. I wish they had the warning not to use the insert on the stove on the first page of the manual in big bold red letters. $22 later and a new ceramic insert, I made vegetable soup. This time, I browned the beef in a skillet. It worked great. I set it on slow cook and about 10 hours later my wife and I enjoyed great food. The third time I used it, I cooked tortilla soup and once again browned the chicken in a skillet. I set the slow cooker on LOW to cook all day while we were at work. When I got home, it was cooking on high and the soup base had reduced about 75%. I am not sure if I set it wrong or if the computer chip malfunctioned. When it works, it works very well. I am optimistic I can learn how to use it properly.

"Great for cooking all day"
Get it ready in the morning and set the timer and it stop and sets itself to warm, how convient. Cooks fast and it plenty big enough for a family of four.

What our customer's say!

"Cooks WAY too HOT!!! Not really a "slow cooker"", We had an old Rival crock pot from the 80s that worked great, you could put a frozen roast in it on low in the morning, go to work, and come home to perfectly cooked roast after work. It finally gave up and died... so we went on a quest for a new one.

Bought another Rival, a 5 qt oval crock pot. It got way to hot, it's only good for making boiled jerky out of your roast! This despite putting it on low. Even trying to cook on low for a mere four hours, this will turn a roast into a tough, boiled piece of leather.

We thought perhaps Hamilton Beach would be a better choice, so we went back and spent the 40 bucks to buy this stay and go digital model. Same problem. Apparently all the "new and improved" crock pots have been made much hotter than the old ones, and cook much faster. This makes them virtually worthless for making a decent roast or slow cooked batch of stew. My old crock pot from the 80s made every roast so tender it fell apart. This Hamilton Beach stay-and-go... and the Rival 5qt oval model we bought... will both speedily boil your roast into an unappetizing chunk of leather that is difficult to cut, let alone chew.

GET WITH IT Rival and Hamilton Beach! Make a NEW slow cooker that actually... ahem... COOKS SLOW.... on a LOW temperature for 8 hours or so, or don't bother selling it to me. I'm returning this new Hamilton Beach model... and going to some second hand stores hoping I can buy a REAL slow cooker in serviceable condition from back when they made them to BE slow cookers... rather than just an electric boiling pot.

Again, note: In four hours, on LOW temperature, these new ones will turn your roast into boiled tough jerky. Don't waste your money until Rival and Hamilton Beach wake up!

"Died in less than 5 minutes", The first time I used the crockpot it died within 5 minutes. I returned the item and purchased a different crockpot. I would not recommend this product!

"Great for transporting food", I bought this slow cooker because I was sick of having liquid spill out as I transported food to the office. It works great! The rubber gasket around the lid seals everything in and the clamps on either side of the lid keep it sealed down tight. Slow cooker functions are pretty much the same on all models but the way this lid seals sets this cooker apart. Good thinking by Hamilton Beach!

"Looks great, Cooks great", I bought this slow cooker because I needed a larger, oval sized one. For years I've used a smaller, round Rival slow cooker which did an adequate job, but was limited because of its size and shape. I love my new slow cooker! It is nice looking, works great, is easy to program, and I especially love the "stay or go" feature and the white oval crock that goes directly from the cooker to the table for easy, attractive serving. Buy this one, you won't regret it.

"Great cooker for a family of 4", I LOVE THIS SLOW COOKER! Their probe works great and the temperature is not too hot that it burns things, like I read on reviews of other products. The quality is great and the keep warm feature is absolutely wonderful so the food does not get dried out or over-cooked. I recommend this slow cooker to anyone who is looking for a new one as a wonderful alternative to other older brands.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"hamilton beach slow cooker", I gave this for my daughter who works full time and complained about not having enough time to cook when she gets home. She loves it. Especially the pot roast.....

"Hard to fasten cover", The crock pot works well, but the cover is very hard to unfasten. You need a great deal of strength and must do it very carefully so not to break the little plastic holder. I do not recommend this product for the average strength person.

"Rival's rival", I bought this after my larger sized Rival had the handle come off of the lid while cooking. This seems to be a much better made cooker. I love the probe function, which allows you to cook until the meat is done then automatically warm without second guessing. The controls are easy to read and push. I tested the unit and it heated to the proper temperatures for low and high. No overcooking or handles coming off. I predict if Rival continues to sell cheap junk that HB will soon become the number one slow cooker, a worthy rival to Rival.

"Gift for my Daughter", I bought this item as a gift for my daughter at Christmas and she is in love with it. She has made a pot roast, and a pork roast in it and they both were to die for. Try one and invite me for dinner any time.
