"Aweome Mug"
No- this product isn't perfect, but nor is anything in life; and it's pretty darn close. It's an awesome bye- well worth it. I bought it because I needed a French press for herbal medicine but didn't want to buy a pot that was either too expensive or not going to last so, I came across this mug which was a decent price and seemed to be of good enough quality to last me a while. Great because you can use it as a regular mug with the normal mug lid or with French press lid for teas and what not.

"great design, one major flaw"
I am a huge fan of personal travel presses and use one every day. The mug works great and is very pretty, however the lack of a snap down lid prevents me from using it any where but at home. I purchased this one because I loved the idea of having the extra screen in the lid and the groovy colors available. I just didn't notice it when I ordered and trying to use it with out in the car led to a hot coffee stain.

"Works Like a Charm"
I am pretty pleased with the quality of the product even though Bodum's stainless steel travel press mug was my first choice. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a Bodum stainless steel travel mug in stock anywhere, this includes their own website. Anyway, the travel mug by Planetary Designs has survived my everyday punishment of bringing it to work and driving around town. It is easy to use and it comes with a second lid if you decide not to use the French press lid. The only caveat is that stains will start to appear at the bottom of the mug. Also, if you plan to purchase the mug, make sure you wash it thoroughly with soap and water. Overall, it's a great product and would highly recommend this to anyone.

"Great little invention for the true coffee lover"
French Press Mug - Boot Cut - By Planetary Design Wasabi
This is a great little product! I bought mine two years ago in a little coffee emporium, Rock City Coffee Roasters, in Rockland, Maine. I use it every day, bring it to work, take it on long drives and use it at home as well. The coffee it produces is delicious, better than the fresh stuff from Dunkins and easy to make. The mug has a non skid rubber bottom which helps keep it stable. The mesh insert in the lid keeps the coffee grounds where they belong and the mug does well in the dishwasher. It is ecofreindly, when you consider all the paper products you don't use, and while the intitial price is a lot for a coffee mug, it has paid for itself in the first month of use.

I tried to buy more, as gifts, from the coffeeshop which no longer carries them. They directed me to Amazon where I found the item in lots of colors. The company ships promptly and my family and friends love their product as well. My sons use theirs and now their wives want them as well. Even my fussy brother likes his!

I wish the company offered free shipping!

"Great for Tea drinkers!"
I purchased this press for my son for Christmas this year and he loves using it on his daily commute. It is easy, convenient, and keeps his tea hot for a long time. The bright Wasabi color is eye catching and can be spotted anywhere! Hasn't been used for coffee but works perfect for brewing tea.

What our customer's say!

"Excellent Press", Overall, this is an excellent French Press in that it does very well what it is supposed to do -- make good coffee and keep it warm.
Contrary to other reviewers, from course grind through medium grind, I have never had the first ground bypass the screen. I have yet to experiment with finer grinds, so make no statement in that regard. The press works fine and makes having good coffee on camping trips quick and easy. Moreover, the cup keeps the coffee drinkably warm for as long as anyone would want to carry it around.
In agreement with other reviewers, the handle attachment is flimsy and quickly became loose on mine, but that seems to be a pattern with all single-attach point handles of this nature. Designer suggestion: moulding the handle as part of a threaded top would solve all the physical complaints associated with this cup.

"I hope they manufacture better than they write", I have decided to buy one of these for use when I travel, which is nearly all the time. However, I am not impressed with the written material from the company. I hope they are better at making coffee presses than they are at writing.

For example, the specifications declare that the deskpress is "Winner of the Specialty Coffee Association of America." I doubt that they now own that association. I figure they won some award from the association, but not the entire thing.

Also, they use commas where there is no pause in human, speech. I checked out the web site, and there are a number of errors in the written English they use.

So they didn't pay attention in grade school. I just hope they paid attention when they learned how to design and manufacture coffee presses.

P. S. My rating is made up out of whole cloth, as I haven't yet recieved my Desk Press.

"I've had a few...This Is The Best One So Far", I wanted to like the Bodum because it was cheap, the size was ideal and it closed tight. But, alas, it's plastic (which is already a negative) so they would break periodically as well. And, they're far too hot to hold once full.

Then I found this little baby from Planetary Design and haven't looked back. My wife and I both love it. It's stainless, solid, has a great handle and I've taken it with me through many countries.

It's actually not as heavy as I feared it might be. The design is solid and I plan to have it for a few more years at least. I see the comments about the coffee staining inside - what's that about? It's a coffee press/mug - of course it gets stains inside. Wash it out. I've haven't found anything that holds coffee that doesn't need the occasional hard scrub.

Only negatives I have to report are minor (I'm buying a second one of these for my wife)
- I wish it fit in a standard cup holder in the car. Oh well, I still do like the large capacity. I just wish it would fit in the cup holder.

- Secondly, like the other reviewer wrote, I wish the press top (there are two - one is for the press and one is just a regular top) fit just a bit tighter - like with snap or something - maybe a screw top instead. Let's just say you don't want to chug that last mouth full too fast.

I highly recommend. I have yet to find anything better and the price is more than fair given the expected life of this product. It's well made so it will be around for a while.

"Excellent for the Office", I was tired of carrying a thermos to work and either drinking mediocre coffee or wasting it because it got too cold to drink. I was looking for a single service French press that would make coffee making at work simple. I came across this mug and knew right away it would be perfect. The stainless steel design keeps coffee very hot for a long time. The second screen at the drinking slot ensures no grounds get through. It allows me to make fresh, hot coffee on demand. I would highly recommend this mug.

"Delicious", I use this mug every single day and it's been the single purchase of the year that has brought me the most happiness. As an outdoor guide, I brew a cup every morning from a camp stove. I've passed through all different types of systems, including other french press mugs (ahem, Bodum). Not only does this make a dellicious cup, but it does so with zero hassle. Other french presses have given me bitter cups with grinds to chew. I've never had a single grind pass in to my mouth. Bliss...

"Perfect French Press Travel Mug", This is my second french press travel mug. The first one (different brand) had many flaws, the main complaint was always having coffee grounds in my mouth.

This mug has a screen at the opening to avoid that problem. I love the stainless steel interior and the iris (purple) exterior. It is well made and should last quite a long time. It is very easy to clean and makes some of the best coffee I have ever had. I would recommend this mug from Planetary Design with no hesitation at all.

I travel for a living and it allows me to brew fresh coffee "my way" any time I want.... without paying $2 or $3 a for a cup. This is a real money saver besides making excellent coffee. All you need is hot water to add to your fresh ground coffee.

PERFECT product especially for those of us that appreciate a fresh brewed cuppa on the road, or those that only need one cup of coffee in the morning.

"Perfect!", I bought this for my fiance, who is studying in India for the year (and who can't seem to buy a decent cup of coffee at the local shops). He loves it! He's been using it for a few weeks now, and says that he hasn't had any problems. I should mention that the coffee I sent along with it was specially ground for a french press, which explains why the grounds aren't getting in his coffee. Also, he really likes the color (he says it's more "school bus yellow" than "mango"). Anyway... I really struggled in choosing among different variations on this theme, but I'm very happy with the one I chose.

"French Press Fantastic", This is a high quality portable french press that completely fits my needs. Good volume and thermal retention. Easy to clean. Love it.

"arrived in bolivia - a great product", Dear sirs,

Yesterday I received the above mentioned Planetary Design french press in Bolivia, where I am living. The press is great and I had a wonderful cup of coffee this morning at breakfast - thank you for the great product. However, I must say that the lack of a shipping service to Bolivia, where I live is a concern. I had to ship via the UK, where my parents live, to our house in La Paz, Bolivia.

Bolivia is a well organized and safe country - there is no reason why you should not ship here. I have lived here for 28 years and I believe that I can truthfully say that I have never lost anything in the post - and I do get a lot of parcels in the post. You should change your shipping policy.

Best regards,

Martin Ede

"I have tried many, this is the best.", Let me start by admitting that I use this for loose tea (Yerba Mate). I had an Bodum press that didn't work too well. Every time I made tea I wound up with a mouthful of loose leaves. The bodum also have a very small base so it was prone to tipping over. The real beauty of the Planetary are the features that you can't see in the pictures. First off, the actual filtration of the press is awesome. It is shaped like a truncated cone. This keeps any loose tea from sliding up the sides. if, by a miracle, some loose leaves did get through, the actual sip-hole has a mesh. It is just great.
