"Plastic parts melt", We purchased two of the these in recent months. We liked the appearance and the fact that it matched our other Le Creuset items. We had concerns about the durability of this made in Thailand kettle. It is made of light enameled steel rather than the heavier alloy used in our other Le Creuset equipment. We too noted that the handle and spout heat up while boiling water.

Our first tea pot self destructed when left on the flame for a minute or two without water. The whistle and the fitting that attaches the handle to the body melted.

Our fault, so we tried again. We were shocked when the second pot's whistle and part of the connection of the handle to the pot partially melted while simply heating water--FYI our stove-top does not have super hot burners. There seem to be a very small margin or error between simply heating and melting.

It's hard to believe that one would design a pot with fittings that melt but Le Creuset has done it!



"Unreliable Whistle! Fire Hazard!", I owned two of these kettles. Right out of the box the whistle was not reliable. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. That is fine, I thought, as long as you live in a tiny one-bedroom apartment and are always close enough to hear the water boil if the whistle fails. But then I moved to a bigger place and I have burned two of these kettles since.
Why would you bother buying a tea kettle without a reliable whistle? You might as well just save the money and wait in the kitchen while you boil water in a regular pot.
Don't buy this product! This Le Creuset kettle is a fire hazard and should be taken off the market. Even you might forget to remember one day that you had some water boiling for tea, and before you know it your apartment goes up in flames.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Pretty good, but...", ...for $60.00 I expected more. It looks nice, but the finish is not very durable. A light bump against the edge of my sink and a chunk of enamel about an inch long spalled off, exposing the black metal underneath. Not only that, but I've had mine less than a year, using it twice a week, and the whistle has already ceased to function. For this much money this kettle should be better.

"Beautiful color", This is a beautiful and functional tea kettle. The handle and spout lock in place for pouring.

"Paint chips can't be good...", This teapot is awful! For how much money it cost, you'd expect more. The last straw was when we noticed there were paint chips in the bottom of it after only a year of use. Now we noticed paint chips coming off a pot we bought in the same line. We are going to contact Le Creuset to see if this product has been recalled.

Updated: We contacted Le Creuset - what a joke! They told us that we could PAY to send it in and IF they determined it was a defect, they would replace the product. If they decide it's not a defect, you get HALF credit to use toward something else. I suspect the chipping paint is a problem on the enamel-on-steal line, but based on the customer support, I wouldn't buy another product from this company.

"Too Hot to Handle", This pot is beautiful. It was a gift. However, you really need a potholder to pick it up after it whistles. My daughter ended up with boiling water all over the shelf as she tried to pour from it and the water came out the hole in the spout. "Great on the outside .... bad on the inside!!!", I thought I had finally found a tea kettle that was nearly perfect. While true you cannot fill the kettle to the brim without it spitting out water, I was able to make adjustments to water level and that problem was solved.
My huge disappointment with this kettle is that after using it for about 6 months it is going in the trash. The outside of the pot looks new, unfortunately the inside rusted. I am unable to remove the rust. The kettle is trash. While still looking perfect you cannot drink the water from the kettle because of the rust leaving a horrible taste in the water.
Bottom line .... great looking kettle poor quality!!!!
