"Great espresso maker if excellent espresso used"
The machine is working fine, to create a real Italian espresso you need excellent espresso as a base of such a cup, that's for sure.
Have in mind, that you do not buy a Jura or something in that range, it is an excellent product in terms of price/performance ratio and further designed without too many buttons, just the two functions: frothing milk and brewing coffee.
As a foundation for cappuccino or latte macchiato, this one is great, too.
Regarding the cord: no, it is not too short and yes, it is wrapped under the machine. Eyes up!
The product is easy to clean and great for having a quick coffee of decent quality.

"Cord is NOT too short...its wrapped under the machine...GREAT espresso maker for the price!"
For $40, this thing will pay for it self in 10 uses and produce a quality drink that's tough to tell any difference from the major coffee chains.

Plenty of high power steam...I over frothed the milk so much it was pouring over the edge of my cup and still had a lot of steam left for cleaning.

Espresso shots tasted perfect. Must buy for the price.

And if you're complaining about a short cord, look under the machine...it will unwind to give you an extra couple feet.

"mrI am "
I am expresso coffee dinker for a long time. I had two krupps coffee expresso machine before. When the last one broke I purchased an expresso coffee machine here in Philipine, made in china. It is not an expresso coffee machine. It had an toaster and expreeoo coffee machine. But the coffee that brewed is not hot.But the cup that triggers the filtering broke.

The Mr.coffee is great. The price is decent.

"Excellent value for the price"
My husband and I received this as a wedding gift. We love it! It's easy to use and the espresso tastes really good. I love being able to make my own cappucinos now instead of spending $$ at a coffee shop.

I rated this 4/5 stars because it didn't come with a frothing pitcher, which isn't made clear on the box or in the instructions. The booklet refers to using one, so I searched through the box looking for an included frothing pitcher, but it turns out you have to provide your own. I found a nice one (Krups) and bought that separately - I just wish that the instructions had been more clear, like, "Use the frothing pitcher (not included)..." or something like that.

"Mr. Coffee products are great."
Wow, I would love to buy this newer Espresso machine. However, the Mr. Coffee espresso/capuccino machine I purchased 4 years ago still works great, still looks great and still makes espresso so well, it shouts, "Shame on you Star****s." for your lousy, watery, acidic and overpriced java." Skip 8 cups of the expensive stuff and put that money down on this. Take your freshly made espresso in a thermos to work or play and continue to save hundreds even thousands on coffee for years to come. The machine is easy to use, and clean up is a breeze. Love it!

What our customer's say!

"Great Buy", Love this product. I read all the other reviews before buying, so I knew it didn't come with a steaming pitcher and ordered one to go with it. However, I didn't realize that it didn't come with an espresso tamper either. I would have ordered one had I known, now I have to wait for the one I ordered to come in and hope it fits this machine. Would have given it 5 stars, but as a former barista, I know that to make a good latte I need a steaming pitcher and a tamper. So for an espresso machine not to come with these items is like getting a pair of sneakers with no laces. I have had no problem with leaking, and as long as the user READS THE INSTRUCTIONS, they shouldn't have any problems either. For $40, I've already gotten my money's worth in the last week. And anyone interested in buying, I would say "GO FOR IT!!!" but order a steaming pitcher and espresso tamper along with it.

"Great, but steaming/frothing is a little annoying", I've had this machine for about a month and it works wonderfully. It's easy to make a good latte or cappuccino with it. The only problem that I've had with it so far is that the steaming arm is a little bit too close to the machine itself, making it difficult to move a cup or pitcher around freely when steaming or frothing milk. Despite that though I can generally get the milk frothed without any problem.

"Great for the price.", I'm not too familiar with espresso machines and this is the first one I've owned but so far it works great. Very simple to use and the instructions were easy to follow.

"good buy for the price", i bought this neat little espresso maker last week and am very happy with it. it brews great espresso and capuccino - comparable with the stuff you get at Starbucks and with coffee made from more expensive machines. for it's price it's a cool coffee maker. my only grouse is that it did not come with free shipping.

"Unreal for the price!!!!", Please read THOROUGHLY!!! With respect to the others who have left less than 4 stars, BOO HOO! ITS 39.00! THIS THING ROCKS FOR 39.00 bucks. I must tell you, I thought, Mr. Coffee, it must be a piece of s_hit, but I bought it anyway cause it seemed simple and I liked the weight and feel of the potential piece of crap. A great man once said "Contempt prior to investigation is a bar against all information."

Buy this even if you don't need it daily. I spend over 200.00 a MONTH at Starbucks, I used their Expresso Dark Roast in this thing and it was AWESOME! I hate Mr. Coffee, but the sub in China that makes this for them hit the f'n nail on the head. You watch, they will double the price after reading this review.

By the by, I NEVER write reviews, let alone a positive one for a over-hyped marketing company like Mr. Coffee. I am writing this for you, that is going to stand in Target, Penny's, Macys, or alike that is going to buy the complicated, more expensive 100.00 to 300.00 machine when we dont possibly have that many friends interested in the size of our unit or the frequency of its use. A little poetic licence here, but buy one and tell me I was wrong, I doubt you will...

Best,

Dave

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great Deal", This espresso maker is very easy to use, easy to clean. Wise purchase I made.

"don't buy a $300 espresso machine, buy this one", I bought this at Targét for $29, and it is freaking awesome. To the two reviewers above... if you actually read the manual you would know that the cord underneath the base can be unraveled to the desired length. This is to eliminate excess cord on your countertop.

Anyway, I discovered I was spending almost $200 at Starbucks... a near crack habit. My previous espresso machine broke over the summer--a $300 Gaggia. Prior to the gaggia I had a krups.

So I plunked down a few bucks for this one knowing I was taking a wee gamble. Usually you get what you pay for.

Let me tell ya, this little machine is great. First, it is super super quiet. My previous machines were deafening especially when frothing. Secondly, it takes up little space. Third, it's fairly nice looking and matches our coffee maker. And of course last, it makes great lattés.

So, don't waste your money on some huge hulking espresso machine that will only last a few years. This one does the job and won't cause ear trauma.

"The design is poor", My husband bought this one for me for Christmas and I've been cursing at it since. The cord is frighteningly short. I can barely plug it in with it flush against the back wall of the counter.

The coffee filter basket has a different insertion style with those I've used previously. You insert it on the left-hand side of the machine and slide the handle to the middle. This is contrary to most machines where the insertion point is in the middle and you slide it to the right. This is awkward and I've ended up spilling coffee all over my counter if it does not insert correctly. Once, it was not seated in the slot correctly and spewed coffee grounds and watery coffee all over my counter.

The frother does not work as instructed. I found that if you waited until the coffee was 3/4 brewed and then frothed, it would give you better results. Also, that plastic thing on the frother did not improve the function, so that got taken off.

The top of the caraffe falls off when you try to pour out the coffee. The knobs are not conducive to trying to take it off with that half-concious effort that most of us have in the morning.

My recommendation for an espresso machine would be a Melita (one without the pods). They steam and froth well and are well-designed.

"simple & easy to operate and good looking ", Bought this from Target on sale for $33, and it was worth it. The unit takes up a small footprint on your kitchen counter, is pretty light weight. One thing to note is that the cord to the unit is pretty short -- and this is by design. The cord length is about 6 inches, and it can only be plugged in one way. There are specific instructions on how to use the espresso machine and a lot of warnings, but don't be fearful, the unit is pretty easy to work with only three settings: off, make espresso and steam - so its pretty easy to operate, and surprisingly quiet. Bravo to Mr.Coffee for making an espresso machine for under $40 that holds up well.
