"great for my glass top stove"
I can some of my faviorite foods. My new glass top stove would not stand up to the weight of my old 16qt pressure cooker. I did some reaserch and purchased this product last year. Easy to use as a canner or a cooker. Processes up to 4 jars at once. This is a great purchase for a first time canner or new homemaker. I use my cooker about 2 to 3 times a week just for cooking. Foods taste so much better. I enjoy mine so much that I am buying two more to give as gifts.

If you don't have a big freezer, canning is the way to go. You need a pressure cooker to can any low acid foods such as meat. I can my own
spaghetti sauce with meatballs, vegetable soup, tomatoe juice, chicken, beef and more.

With my old canner, was hard to find replacent parts. When I made this purchase, I ordered 2 extra sealing rings and 1 extra lid.

"good quality "
I am very pleased with my purchase. The quality is excellent as was the service. The pot is well made and I use it all the time. It is heavy enough for the ceramic topped stoves, so good heat distribution. I have not used it for canning, but I am sure it will work fine.

"Fagor 12 piece pressure canner"
Swindle going on, I think. I ordered when the item was advertised on the screen, and got an order confirmation a few minutes later. Very shortly thereafter the money was removed from my bank account. Now they claim to be out of stock. Is it false advertising? Bait and switch? Never reviewed a product before, butt his is just a mess and I think they should make it good. After all, who would have ordered if the store didn't have the product. That certainly significant information to simply leave out of the product description.

"warning about canning capacity"
If you intend to use this iem for canning, be forewarned that it only takes pint jars. This is not noted in the description. I bought this to can tomatoes in quart jars this weekend and paid for the 2-day shipping. Now I have to send the thing back and lose the $25 in shipping costs. Very upset.

"Teflon and made in China"
I bought this from another horrible retailer (not cooking. com) and although it everything came in as it was supposed to, I was disappointed to realize it had a nonstick coating. I don't mind using Teflon for short meals, but eating food from a pressurized Teflon makes me nervous. I was able to purchase the Duo model from the Fagor and so far it has been wonderful! The rest of the kit is fine, I don't know if I am going to be canning any time soon but you never know.

What our customer's say!

"BUYER BEWARE of Fagor's Bait-and-Switch Scam", Fagor is obviously doing a huge bait-and-switch scam with this product. It is advertised as Fagor, but when you get the item, you will notice that it is actually "Cook's Essentials" brand. Even if this is Fagor's own product (which some claim it is), it is much cheaper than the actual Fagor Duo Pressure Cooker in that it does not even have quality stainless steel construction interior; rather, it is teflon coated (not recommended for canning, yet it boasts that it is intended for canning). As so many other unsuspecting buyers have reported, once you get this cheap substitute, you are either stuck with it or required to pay the huge ($20 in my case) return shipping to return it. Also, be aware that it is not only Amazon who sells this unit -- it is also sold as Fagor on Heartland America.com website, and they clearly say that they have the right to substitute whenever they want, and we have nothing to say about it. Both Amazon and any other websites who are running this scam should CLEARLY state that the product is a Fagor "Cook's Essentials" product and NOT the Fagor Duo model that received the top marks on Cooks Illustrated website. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!

"Best addition to the kitchen since my wife", I have been using this almost every day since I received it. My wife and I have made some great food, enjoyed many leftovers and have begun to lose a little weight.

We have made stews, soups, Coq Au Vin, Citrus Chicken, custard, and bread pudding. Plus a couple of home made shots in the dark and all of them have been delicious, and not a preservative in the lot.

The prep time takes longer than the cooking, so I finally dug out the food processor again, that shortened up the prep time. Now things will flow more quickly.

I bought the dessert setup by Fagor, it works, but not well. The silicone baking dish and cover is so flimsy they do not mate. This was quite a disappointment, but I'll find a better dish for the desserts.

All in all a great purchase so far and I look forward to using it for many years.

"Great for cooking not so good for canning", Loved the way it cooks but for canning people should be aware. Since this has a low pressure for 8 lb and high for 15 lb everything must be done at 15 lb. Great if you are at very high altitude but if your at low altitude you will be over processing everything you can. For beginner canners please buy a Ball Blue Book of Preserving so you know what to do and what not to do before forging on with canning. The manual and cookbook is lovely but the canning recipes and also the instructions are vage. For one thing you have to vent a canner before canning not like in cooking. No where in the book tells you this so unless this product is different you could end up with safty problems with your canned goods.

"Fagor 12 piece pressure cooker and canner set", Got this P C and dearly love it is nice and large for the big things and you can also can in it. I have not canned as I got it too late in the season but plan to use it when I make soups and stews. I have heard only good things about this P C on a PC group I am on and everybody loves it. I have used it to make several large meals and everything turns out great. You can not go wrong with this PC I have waited for it to go on sale and it finally did.

"Fagor Pressure Cooker/Canner", Great duel purpose product, for small amounts of canning and large amounts of pressure cooking. Fagor always makes a quality product.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Fine for the money but would REVIEWERS read description before they buy", The major complaint is that this item is not the Cook's Illustrated product. Cook's Illustrated recommended the FAGOR DUO model not all FAGORS. If they can read the Cook's Illustrated article but that can't read the amazon description.

The item is fine but it is fagor's cheaper product line. The DUOs are more expensive and have more features. This is a fine product but I agree its not great product. It should NOT be Buyer Beware, it should be BUYER AWARE. If you don't mind buying a Ford Taurus instead of a Cadillac than this model is good for you.

"Great starter set", This is a solid starter set for those who want to start pressure cooking, I would say that the pot its self is on the cheaper side but still a great product. I noticed that it can require some giggling to get the seals to take hold nd start building pressure.

"My wife will like it.", Haven't used it yet. Present for Christmas. However, very nice heavy construction. Will likely work OK. If it does not, I'll update.

"No regrets.", This was my first pressure cooker and I am very pleased with its performance. It has gotten lots of use and has produced many delicious meals. I purchased it before there were any posted reviews (and at a higher price than many other reviewers, I see); however, I have no regrets and would recommend it.

"beautiful, non-stick interior. Will use it this holiday season.", This is a beautiful, thick (enough) stainless steel pot with non-stick interior. Fagor is well regarded by many, CI liked a different model but this is fabulous, for the price I paid. It even comes with a canner set. I haven't used it yet but will certainly do so this holiday season.
