Others say...
"Just be aware" I like this knife EXCEPT...you have to HOLD the safety button on while you are slicing....really inconvenient! I thought maybe there was a lock on it, but mine will not stay unless I hold it which makes cutting the meat harder, not easier. Wish I would have known that before..... "Does what it is supposed to do" It seems to do what I bought it for...cut bread without squishing it. I have a great bread knive, but I tend to appy too much downward pressure when cutting very soft bread. The electric knife is the perfect solution. I have since then used it to slice tri-tip and it does a great job. The way you disconnect the blades is a bit strange, but you'll get used to it. The safety feature on the trigger is also a bit bothersome, but I understand why someone with children might find it valuable. Hope this helps. "electric knife" I have used Black & Decker electric knives for at least 25 years and have loved them. However, the one recently purchased from Amazon is entirely too heavy, does not have a detatchable cord, the blades are awkward and shorter, and it is impossible to replace in its own case. Perhaps this is my fault because I felt that the more expensive item would show more quality. Thank you for your concern. "Electric Knives" This knife was given a high rating by Consumer reports. I purchased it and like it very much. It does an excelent job slicing thin. "Beyond Expectation!" The prompt delivery as well as the quality of the product surpassed expectations. Very, very pleased!

What our customer's say! "The Slice Right really sliced right", I just recently purchased this Black and Decker Slice Right Electric Knife and it's not bad for the price. It takes a little bit getting used to. The safety lock really works and it is somewhat difficult to release it to get the knife started but I guess it's suppose to be that way for safety purposes. I used it the first time on a brisket and I got nice even slices. It was good for cutting very thin slices and thick slices. It comes with a fork too which came in very handy and is needed, especially for meats. I have small hands, and the no slip grip handle really helps to get a good grip and hold the knife in place. The cord is long enough to give plenty of room for moving. I would recommend this inexpensive electric knife. I found out about it from Cook's Illustrated. I am pleased with this knife and it's not bad for the price. The Slice Right really does slice right. Get one, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thanks America's Test Kitchen, Cook's Illustrated for this one and thanks Black and Decker for making another fine product and inexpensive too. Oh yes, make sure to read and follow the instructions to be safe and to SLICE RIGHT! "I want my Hamilton Beach Knife Back!", The Slice Right went right back into the box after ONE USE because the motor burned out after cutting a roast beef. I had a Hamiltion Beach for over 20 years. I loved it. It is now with my EX. Maybe wise to check out other brand names. "Lefty'd out", This is a finely balanced, powerful and very sharp knife. I would LOVE it except it's darn near impossible for a lefty to work the "safety trigger". Even my wife (a righty) finds it hard to released, but I have to use my right hand to release the trigger... hardly a safety improvement! The case doesn't really close/snap correctly. Which is a bummer, but hardly a fatal flaw. "Slices nicely but awkward to use", I received this kit as a gift just in time for Christmas dinner. We used to carve the turkey, cut the bone in ham, and slice the bread. It was very good at all three tasks. I had no trouble cleaning the blades or getting it back into the case. The product was highly rated in the magazine 'Cook's Illustrated' published by the folks who run America's Test Kitchen. As usual, the reviewed offered in the magazine was spot on. For the price, this knife is a great value that can perform at multiple tasks. Why only 3 stars, then? Three major problems lower the 5 star performance to a 3 star overall rating. The first problem, obvious before even plugging in the knife, is the case. While I had no trouble repacking the knife into the provided case, the case is cheaply made. The 'latches' are made to just snap together, but they don't want to line up to snap. And once snapped, the case doesn't stay closed. The slightest pressure on the latch causes it to open up again. The second problem is the short cord. The third and biggest problem is the safety trigger. It is a very small button - about the diameter of the tip of a ball point pen. To operate the knife, you must push in this button and pull the trigger at the same time. The button is in the middle of the trigger, however, making it very awkward to use. After some practice, I was able to hold down the button with my middle finger while pulling the trigger with my index finger. My husband, who is left handed, eventually gave up using the knife altogether because of the safety mechanism. We're going to try to circumvent this problem so the knife is easier to use. Bottom line on this product: great slicer for multiple tasks but needs some modification to be a 5 star slicer. "Ouch!", This is a pretty good knife - it cuts things, seems pretty sturdy, and comes apart easily for cleaning. That said, it's really painful to hang on to, because you have to mash the safety toggle down while also pulling the trigger to start the knife. The safety won't lock on. For me, this led to a sore hand and the rather painful realisation that I would rather use a regular serrated knife that doesn't vibrate me to bits. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "B&D Electric Knife", The knife kit was a gift and the recipients love it! The ordering process was seamless and the item arrived the next day. "Wonderful", I once believed I would never own an electric knife. I thought it was a useless adult toy similar to those battery operated sucker twisters that kids get. After watching a review on the Food Network, I thought I'd give it a try. Wow! I was wrong about being useless! This thing is a dream. It takes the chore out of slicing! I've never been so happy to be wrong. ![]() |
