"Awful disappointment", I bought this kettle in large part because Black & Decker has such a great reputation for producing quality products. Well ... not any more in my view.

This is a horrible product. The lid is extremely hard to open. It gets stuck, and the handle makes it that much more difficult to get a good grip on the lid. I have to pour the water through the spout!

Save your money. It's piece of junk.

"Great looking kettle but leaks a lot", I love the appearance of this kettle and was certainly influenced by that in my buying decision. It was great for a weeks or so but then we started to notice a little water around the kettle if we filled it up before boiling the water. The leaks have gotten progressively worse and it now leaks from both side windows and also the bottom.

Perhaps there was a bad batch of sealant as this problem doesn't seem to be universal, but ours has got to the point that I need to return it. It is useless with amount it is now leaking.

"Cute, effective!", Let's divide this review into Pros, Cons, and Nons!

Pros:
(*) CUTE!
(*) Heats up really quickly, compared to my past kettles.
(*) Does not let water get cold quickly, either - although this may be a subjective assessment.

Cons:
(*) Usually, such kettles will have three holes on the bottom of the base, so that you can adjust the length of the cord in small gradiations - if it's too long, wrap it 1/3 of the way around the base and pull it through the hole. This kettle only has one hole, so that the cord length is either full, or very short.
(*) The "On" Indicator is on only one side, so if you're looking at in from the other side, it's hard to tell if it's still heating or not.
(*) The handle is not rubberized.
(*) Hard to fill it through the spout - you'll probably have to remove the lid.

Nons:
(*) Does NOT leak water. I've used it almost daily for the past month.
(*) Does NOT present a risk of being burnt if you've used metal kettles before. When the water is boiled, the kettle will be hot, and opening the lid will let out some steam. Don't let this surprise you!

If I could go back in time and un-buy this kettle, I wouldn't. I like it, and I'm keeping it. The shortcomings are too insignificant compared to its sheer cuteness. If you don't like red circular kettles, or want a plastic kettle, then do get this [[B00004S9H7:plastic kettle by Braun]] - my parents have it and it's great, but it's not red. :)

"Great little kettle", This is a great little electric kettle for boiling water. The automatic shut-off is a wonderful feature. So many times I have put water on the stove to boil and have gotten distracted to forget to turn-off the stove when the water boiled and thus have ruined saucepans or non-whistling kettles. The stationary handle is a good feature to prevent the kettle from slipping from side to side. I simply fill the kettle from the spout and not worry about removing the cap. Well worth the price and delivery was very prompt.

"leaks!", This is a very cute teapot, but after owning it for only one month, it leaks water from the bottom. We use our pot every day, but I'd still figure it should last longer than one month! Also, the lid is tough to remove, and you cannot do it while the water is still hot.

Another consideration, this teapot took much longer to boil our water than the Aroma we owned before.
