"Pleasantly surprised" A cheaper, smaller Bissell "steam cleaner" has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years in carpet cleaning costs. It was getting more and more temperamental (brush attachment wouldn't work, the upright locking mechanism broke, etc.), so I decided to buy this model. It has some nice features: a reservoir for the cleaning solution, so you don't have to mix it; a turbo brush (which I haven't used yet); a selector switch for heavily soiled carpets and one that just rinses; an indicator to confirm solution application. The machine also feels heavier -- in a good way. The old machine was so light that I felt I had to push down the front end for better cleaning. Can't attest to the sturdiness of this machine, but if it's like the old one, it should get us through a few years at the pace we use it. "Great" We bought this last night and I am amazed! We adopted a dog from the shelter and had a difficult time training her to "hold it" while we were gone. She finally got it and then we moved so that threw her off! Almost everyday for the past week and a half, she's gone on the carpet. We've used every pet cleaner we could fine to try to get rid of the smell but I'm pregnant and can smell EVERYTHING! Needless to say, I just couldn't take it anymore so we went out and bought this last night. We also bought the bissell pet cleaner to use and I'll tell you...after it dried, I was on my hands and knees, smelling the carpet, looking for the spots and they were gone! As I said, some of the spots were over a week old! The cleaning stuff goes very quickly so you may want to just use that for real problem areas and use the hot water for all other areas. Other than that, we were very impressed. "Doesn't Hold Up!" Worked great at first, took out lots of dirt. But when I went back to use it again a year later, it's all clogged up and I can't make it work. So if the $150 is worth it for one use, you'll be happy. But don't expect it to last till next time. "Got Kids/Pets Get This!" I love love love this machine! I have owned a few carpet cleaners and this one is BY FAR the best one for the $$$! I had the little rinky dink Bissell cleaner before, and it just doesn't compare to Powersteamer. It's easy to fill, and dump out, easy to use, much quieter than a regular vaccume cleaner, and it cleans so well! I have 2 kids and a dog, and my carpet always looks new after using this machine. The best part is the rotating brushes, it actually grroms the pile of your carpet to make the high tread areas look new again!

What our customer's say! "What a lifesaver!", Bissell PowerSteamer Turbo Upright Deep Cleaner - PlumI read all the reviews for this product as I have never owned a cleaner. Two days after the cleaner arrived my 140 lb. Grt. Pyr had a BIG accident in the living room. What a test for the cleaner and me! It was easy to use with excellent instructions and came with enough cleaner to do the job. I went over the carpet twice for good measure and you would never guess what it had looked like just 30 min. before. It was easy to take apart and clean afterwards. I have used it twice since then and I love it. The name says powersteamer and I think that is misleading as I don't think there is any steam involved, just warm water from the faucet, but it does the job and that is the most important part. "A Name I Thought I Could Trust", I am very disappointed in this product. Purchased 07/21/08. Malfunctioned on first use on 07/23/08. The gear on the motor to the brush (toothed belt), came off on first use. Thus, no brush action. The box the product came in stated "Do Not Return to Store." I called Bissell & they had me take it to local service center. Representative said the problem was common with this model. Hopefully the replacement will not have same problem. I somehow feel this will be a recurring problem. I cannot, however, blame Target for a poor quality product. I will update this review as soon as I get the product back....... or replaced "NEXT WEEK???" "WOW!!! I couldn't ask for more!", So, I was at work yesterday and stopped at home for my lunch break, as I always do, and found that while I was at work my dog had been sick and left 6 large piles of diarrhea all over my apartment. This was the most disgusting thing I had ever seen. It looked like tar, it was black oozy liquid (not to gross you all out, but this is the mess that I was dealing with on my LIGHT BEIGE carpet). Needless to say, 30 minutes of trying to hand-scrub only made to smear the spots, and the smell... OMG! I ran to a local store (Target) where they had a limited supply of carpet cleaners (yes, I had to take the remainder of my shift off). I didn't have enough to get the big $300 machine with the two rollers, so my choice was between the little $69 Bissell something, or this model for $149. I decided to go with the $149 PowerSteamer Deep Cleaner, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I took it home, put it together (it took about 15 minutes) and then started on the disaster. Not only did the PowerSteamer completely clean out the diarrhea (there are absolutely no signs that the dog had ever been sick), but it also completely cleaned old stains from previous accidents that are a year old. In addition, it pulled up some major dust bunnies that I had no idea had taken residence in my carpet. I've only been in the apartment for 13 months, and never imagined all that dust was in the carpet. Awesome features: 1) The clean water is shared with the same container with the dirty water. Now you may be thinking, "What?! How is that an awesome feature?" Well, Bissell put together the tank in such a way that the clean water and dirty water share the tank, but they're seperated. I have never seen a machine easier to fill and empty. 2) The container looks like a type of covered bucket and it sits in the base of the machine. You remove it by laying down the handle of the cleaner and then lifting the handle of the container. 3) I don't know if this is standard, but there is a seperate container for the carpet cleaner, so when you press the trigger on the handle, the water and the cleaner are mixed by the machine so that it's at the perfect ratio. 4) It seems to operate just like a vacuum, only it's deep cleaning the carpet. It's so easy to use. Areas of slight concern: 1) It's super-heavy. Which tells me it's sturdy and will last a long time, but you should have some muscle to carry the box into a second story apartment (if you purchase it from a store). 2) The wetness of the carpet that was left behind, which is the nature of the beast if you use too much liquid at one time. Basically, the directions say to pull the trigger (which activates the spray) and hold it down while slowly pushing the device forward (over the area) and then pulling it back. So, the area is getting dowsed twice with the cleaning solution. This, however, makes the carpet too soggy, and my carpet is rather plush. I can't imagine what it would do to thinner, shorter carpet. A better method, which I figured out, is a. to pull the trigger while slowly pushing the cleaner over the area b. release the trigger c. pull the device slowly back and forth over the area 3 or 4 times (like you're vaccuming d. repeat a-c (if needed) This worked really well, once I figured it out, and the carpet in these areas were dry in just a few hours. The areas where I used the method in the directions were still damp when I woke up this morning. This machine is awesome. I'm so glad I got it. Now, I'm off to formulate my plans to do the entire apartment on my next day off. Yay! "Cleaned up carpet I thought was destroyed.", Warning, this is gross! Had red wine vomited all over my stupidly beige carpet at a party. It looked like a murder scene, covering about a 5' x 8' area. I honestly thought the carpet would have to be replaced, and there was so much of it that any attempts to clean it up by hand (even with my Little Green and various folk remedies for wine spills) were just making it worse. I realized I could buy one of these and own it for future use for about what I'd pay a professional to come deal with it, so I bought one. I noticed that these $150 models seem to get better reviews than the $200+ ones, and no one seems to like the ProHeat ones much, so this is what I went with. It took quite a few passes and a lot of use of the stain buster forumla they include, plus a bit of OxyClean + water on the worst parts, but I can honestly say my carpet now looks like it never happened. And it looks better than it did before in some parts of the stain that were also high-traffic...plus, it has made living in a house with light beige carpet much less stressful for the future. If it can clean up my red wine 'crime scene', I imagine it can do just about anything. Assembly was easier than I was dreading (you will still have to break out a philips head screwdriver though), and I'm not yet sure how useful the tools will be, but 5/5 for now. "Excellent cleaner for the price", This is an excellent cleaner. It cleaned up 8 month old stains from my 20 month old with no indication that there was a stain. I cleaned up after my dog up-chucked on my carpet and again, no stain. It is easy to put together and works fantastically. Only one caution. This is my second Bissell steam cleaner. My first was a Little Grean. And in both manuals it says that it is okay to leave the solution in the cleaner. I did this with the Little Green and the solution dried in the tubes and I had to purchase this. Don't listen to Bissell when they say you can leave the solution in the machine and your machine will last a long time. ![]()
