"Worth it's weight in gold!"
I don't normally rate products unless I am truly in love with them. Well in this case I'm head over heels!!! Read all the reviews and did my research before I purchased the vacuum. Let me tell you the reviews were right on the money. The first time I swept my living room floor I had to empty the container 6 times....yes 6!! My husband and I were amazed. We have one small beagle and I was amazed at how much of his hair could acumulate in the carpet. Every week I empty the container once after sweeping my living room. I empty the container when the dirt is right below the edge of the "removable cup". That way the dirt and soot does not overflow onto my carpet when I try to remove the cup from the unit. First tires can be a little messy until you get the hang of the right way to remove the cup. Dirt does accumulate around the basin. But it's a small price to pay compared to the amount of hair and dirt this unit gets out of my carpet!!! Truly the best vacuum around!!!!

"A vacuum that actualy does what it says it does."
My wife is very impressed with this vacuum. She vacumed the house with our old Eureka Dirt Devil and then with the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser and got ALOT more dirt and hair to come up. It would have filled at least 2 more vacuum bags of the Dirt Devil. She vacumed our 15x29 living/dining room and had to empty the Bissell dirt container 6 more times.

Pro's ;
Great suction. Stylish, Nice attachments, Easy to handle like a self-propelled vacuum, Great air filtration (we used to start sneezing every time after I was done vacuuming with the old unit), Quieter than most units (I don't have to shout at her anymore if she missed a spot...LOL).

Con's :
Dirt container needs emptying frequently (2x per room, We have 2 indoor cats), Short cord holder (takes long to wrap cord up), Flex hose could stand to be longer (for stairs).
Otherwise she works like she should, this one is surpassed other vacuums we've had over the years including, Eureka, Hoover, Oreck, even Kirby.
I give this one 5 stars!!!

"It is just 'ok'"
I bought this item elsewhere on sale after researching bag-less vacuums that make claims to being great with pet hair. I have three cats, two of whom have very long hair. I have owned and used this vacuum for about a year.

Pros:
Strong suction; decent, general cleaning ability.

Cons:
One| Despite the strong suction (it seems to pull itself forward along the carpet), it doesn't pick up everything. It gets some hair, and leaves some. It picks up most litter, but leaves some.

Two| It doesn't perform very well on non-carpeted surfaces

Three| The filter gets clogged often (the one right before the deposit chamber). And while the filter is easy to remove and clean, it is rather difficult to re-install.

Four| The hose and its attachments are no where near as strong... it seems the vacuum loses much of its strength. The manufacturer's picture of the Turbo brush getting tons of animal hair off a sofa does not represent my experience.

I gave this product three starts because I think it neither worthy of much praise or much criticism

"Pet Hair Eraser does what it says!"
This vacuum took an amazing amount of hair and dirt out of rugs we thought were clean already from vacuuming with our old Eureka. They looked like new! Works great on wood and tile floors too. And for a price WAY less than a Dyson.

It has a good length of hose for an upright (it's set up so all the suction goes through the hose at all times) and has a great hose attachment with a rubber face to pull pet hair off of furniture fabric and curtains.

The weight and size of the machine is definitly not ultra-light but I'm willing to compromise for a vacuum that works so well. All in all I would give an excellent rating for the Bissel 3920 Pet Hair Eraser and recommend it for anyone with pets.

Pros:
- Sucks up pet hair like no other vacuum I've used
- Has great attachments for taking pet hair off of furniture
- Good length of hose and electrical cord
- Easy to empty
- HEPA filter for exiting air
- All attachments have places to fasten and travel with the vacuum if desired

Cons:
- Somewhat heavy and loud - I think these two gripes might be inaviodable for the amount of suction you get from this machine
- Tall - I'm 6' tall so I can't say if it would be an issue for someone shorter

"It actually works!"
I have an 11 month old daughter and two hairy goldens and needed an item that would actually work to pickup all the hair from the dogs so my daughter didn't crawl through it.

Surprisingly, this one actually works, and even though we have weekly maid service and get our carpets shanmpooed quarterly - I couldn't believe how much hair was captured the first time through the house.

Amazing!

What our customer's say!

"Can only do one job", With two cats and a dog I thought this would be a great purchase but I was wrong. It is AWFUL for anything but pet hair. It shoots everything else straight backwards at your legs, which is especially irritating for things like loose cat litter. I end up using the hose to clean up anything but pet hair. It also weighs about 100lbs. What a waste of money.

"This one is a good vacuum cleaner!", This vacuum has been built right, and is well thought out. It is effective in cleaning dog hair, which is something I couldn't say for my past two vacuums, both of which were 2x the cost of the vacuum. I've been using it for about 6 weeks now and am enjoying a good product for the money.

"Absolutely amazing!", This is the best vacuum I have ever owned. I own 2 dogs - A short-hair Jack Russell and a Rat Terrier that shed CONSTANTLY. After a rather persistent frustration with my previous vacuum not picking up any of the hair they leave behind and leaving my carpet still feeling gritty, I bought this one after reading the reviews about it.

The vacuum arrived, took about 10 minutes to assemble (just 3 screws to put in place!), and I went to work. I was absolutely astonished and disgusted to find what had been living in my carpet all this time. The canister instantly filled up with dog hair and dirt. I'm a person who takes a lot of pride in keeping the house clean and picked up, so seeing what my other vacuum consistently left behind was shocking.

I strongly recommend this vacuum to anyone who has pets (or children for that matter). The amount it's able to pick up is amazing! The dogs' beds were even completely free of dog hair after running one of the included attachment tools over them. I highly recommend!

"If you enjoy breathing clean air, do NOT buy this vacuum!!!", I own the Animal Dyson and have had it for 3 years now. It has excellent suction and has never failed me. I decided to buy this Bissell vacuum as I was tired of carrying the Dyson up and down the 3 levels of my house and wanted another vacuum that I could just keep on one level and something less expensive. I read the reviews on this site and thought this was the best one to buy. Well, after using the Bissell for 1 month, it does not compare with the Dyson. The biggest issue I have with the Bissell is when you disconnect the hose to use the attachments, the tube which you are disconnecting it from on the vacuum, spits out dirt. Yes, it actually spits out dirt particles. The dirt that you just sucked up while vacuuming upright, is being blown out while you are using the hose! If you haven't noticed it yet on your vacuum, take a closer look! Being asthmatic, this vacuum is really bad! Also, if you don't shove that hose back in as tight as you can into the vacuum when you are done using the attachments, it will pop out without you noticing, and everything that you are vacuuming upright just spits right out! You have to constantly check that the hose is attached to the vacuum or you'll end up vacuuming again, not to mention all the dust flying particles in the air you are breathing in! The next thing I noticed is the suction is poor. In the upright position, put the hair catcher up (you'll know what I mean if you have one of these) and then try to suck up dirt along the edge of the floor and wall. It doesn't pick the dirt up! The Dyson picks it up along the edges without any problems! The power you are feeling on the Bissell that you think is suction is the wheel brush rotating. Ok, I'll give it a thumbs up on the fastest wheel brush rolling rotation but what good is it when the suction is not strong enough to pull it into the vacuum? Ok, so you'll have nice cleaning track marks on your carpet from the brush rotation but the dirt is still there! As always, you get what you pay for. I will be returning the Bissell and buying another Dyson!!!!

"Best Vacuum I have ever owned!", I have two cats and two dogs and even with my Dyson I could never get all the Chihuahua hair out of my upholstery or cat fur out of the carpet. I read all the great reviews on this vacuum and decided to purchase it based on reviews alone. I thought I would use it in conjunction with my Dyson but I'm getting rid of my Dyson completely. Why do twice the work when this vacuum works better than the Dyson. One tip though: when the front red felt panel is down it works great to pull in pet hair into the machine but if you want to get close to the floor boards make sure to flip it up.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Dont buy this vacuuum", After just 15 mins of use, the feature dual-edge cleaning brush stop running at all. I know today's vacuum cant last too long like the vacuum in old days, but I cant believe it can only last for 15 mins!!!

"Absolutely mazing!", I am in love with my vacuum! We have two big dogs, one who sheds fine little hairs and one who sheds big clumps of fur and until last week it drove me insane. Now, I grab my Bissell and in 15 minutes the hair is gone from the floor, the furniture, the corners, under the bed, the curtains....
The tools are great for the sofa and chairs and this weekend we're cleaning out the car! We almost bought a Dyson but I'm glad we saved our money.

"I'm apparently disgusting...", I bought this thing "blind" and couldn't be happier. I went to Lowe's to try and find those rubber brooms the Aussie on TV assured me I could get for $10 a piece and couldn't find any. I went to the vac section just to gaze upon the glory of the Dyson Animal I had read about but had no intention of purchasing until after the lotto numbers were revealed at the end of the week. There I saw this vac for $149 with pet pictures all over it. I figured what the heck, the black lab hairs were driving me crazy on my tan/beige rug and my upright bagless Eureka (complete with headlight) was just pushing it around even though I figured it was a pretty good vac. The instructions really were terrible, I could have had it together in a hot minute but took 10 or so due to figuring it out. You do step one, then like step 5 says to "do this" before you do step one. Anyway, I got it together and said out loud "prepare to be dissappointed". I certainly was not. I ran it the length of my pathetic living room twice and the stupid container was completely full. I thought this was some kind of joke, but a really promising one. Emptying it was very easy and finding my spot on the carpet was easy since it looked like a freshly mowed lawn when the rest of the grass was a foot tall. It handled the rest with ease and I ended up with 5 canister-fulls with the hall and living room. Now I had a dalmatian that died over a year ago of old age, and I swear his hair was in that can. Yes it's loud and the attachments have some awkwardness, but darn it this thing WORKS and that is all I really wanted. Also, I don't know if it is some sort of trick of leverage or what, but you'd swear this thing is at least partially self-propelled. It doesn't burn rubber or lerch forward or anything but it definitely seems to glide forward with ease. Power button is on front which is odd, but really who cares. I see a LOT of user error possibilities with the one-star people, and others have almost certainly gotten a bad specimen they should have simply exchanged, but this thing should really impress you... if it doesn't then exchange it because the majority of reviews are absolutely true.

"TOO SHABBY TOO HEAVY TOO LOUD", I purchased the Bissel Pet Eraser because we own cats and dogs. The animal hair was out of control and I thought an upright with 12 amps might be better than my older ElectroLux Canister. The first time I used the vacum it did seem to pick up lots of animal hair. I had to empty the canister three times for two rooms. The first negative thing I noticed was that the rotating brush did not stop after detaching the hose to use other attachments. Things went downhill from there. The dirt canister is pretty easy to remove and empty. BUT, the throat above the canister that has some sort of filter needs to be removed for cleaning and that is very hard to get back in. You practically have to turn this heavy monster upside down to do it. The rotating brush stopped working consistently after the third or fouth use and eventually stopped for good. This vacum is heavy, cumbersome and loud. It is almost impossible to manuever and it certainly does not pick up anything along the edges of rooms. The price was so attractive to me and I read many positive reviews. It definitely did not live up to any of the reviews. I wish I had never purchased it. If you are still looking, keep up the search, do not buy this vacum.

"Powerful", We love the vacumne cleaner, it is very powerful but a bit heavy. After vacumning, we were amazed. We vacumned the day before with our Shark vacumn and the Bissell still picked up enough to fill the cup. All we can say is WOW!
