"disappointing", I recently purchased this coffee maker. I loved the idea of being able to grind & brew at the same time. I am VERY disappointed with this coffee maker. The coffee it makes is OK but you need to use a lot of coffee beans because some of the ground beans don't make it to the filter. The left over coffee clumps up due to the moisture in the unit so the grinder needs to be washed after EVERY use. I'm disappointed this coffee maker doesn't work better & I'm returning to my separate grinder & coffee maker.

"Another Good Cuisinart Product", I was concerned by reading the reviews about having to constantly clean the coffeemaker but it's not been as bad as I had thought. I don't always use beans to make coffee and that's when cleaning becomes a necessity. When you use grounds or tea, you just measure into the filter and only water goes through the grinder, so I usually just rinse the grinder and let it dry. At first, the maker may seem very complicated to use and to program but once you get used to it, it's easy.

"Just doesn't cut it", As I said in my title, this product just doesn't cut it. Yes, it makes coffee, but the numerous drawbacks make it not worth the effort. The most important thing is that the coffee this unit makes is very weak - I can learn to deal with the other issues, but bad tasting coffee makes this a deal breaker. The only way to get mediocre coffee is to FILL the grinding cup, however this uses 2x the coffee than other, better designed makers require to brew great coffee. IMO, I think that if this unit used the cone-type filters, the coffee would be better.

Like other reviewers said, the parts are a pain to clean and the water vapor issue keeps everything wet inside the machine. The grinder "blade" is not like those found in stand-alone grinders - it's dull (presumably to prevent users from getting cut with the daily, required cleanings) and won't grind the coffee fine enough for my taste (wasting coffee), the grinder lid must always be kept perfectly dry to prevent grounds from sticking/caking, the grinder base and "chute" through which the grinds fall to fill the brew basket also gets caked with coffee grounds and "dust." There is a lid for the brewing basket that also gets ground inside and out (it's made up of two pieces and hollow).

Bottom line: If you like weak coffee, then I'm sure you can learn to live with these issues, but "flavorful" coffee will require using 2x the beans than other makers and also will cause you to burn through coffee at 2x the rate.

"Smooth Coffee", This is a great coffee maker for the price. Can grind, then brew the beans or can use ground coffee. Easy to use, easy to set up. Also has a re-usable coffee basket so you don't have to keep buying filters. There's no surprises, no disappointments.

"Terrible", Do Not Purchase this item! It is awful and not worth the ridiculous price.

It seems very cool from the description, but it is a piece of junk.

The grind area is very difficult to disassemble, making it nearly impossible to keep clean. Note that it must be cleaned regularly to keep it from becoming clogged.

The is poorly designed. The last cup or two are difficult to poor from the pot because it must be tipped nearly upside down to properly drain.

Stay away from this product. We have two friends that have already thrown it away. Unfortunately, it is a common item on gift registries - leave it off!

"This is as good as it gets!!", I like the convenience of waking up to a fresh and hot pot o' java made just the way I want!! I can change the settings daily if i want to accommodate a weaker or stronger taste, fewer or more cups, whole bean or ground! That's pretty convenient, if you ask me! I'd say the only thing I'd change would be to have a wider water reservoir for pouring (gotta watch no water gets into the grinder) and a water gauge on each side for lefties or righties! I've heard complaints for cleaning the grinder, so make sure the hopper is almost empty to unscrew easier, take a butter knife or chopstick to it every couple of days to scoop the fine grinds into the filter basket, and you can enjoy that extra flavor the next pot! NO WASTE! The grinder is a tad noisy, but just be optimistic and use as a morning alarm! I've had mine since 12/07 and have had rave reviews from the delicious coffee i serve!

"Love my coffeemaker!", I received this coffeemaker quickly & it is the best thing ever! It is so easy to use, set-up, & does a great job making coffee. Love the program feature & that I can grind my own coffee. And you can't beat the price.

"Great Coffee But Messy Cleanup", I received the coffee maker as a gift. Although the coffee is great, the cleanup and maintenance offset any advantages of using the grinder. The problem is that excessive condensation accumulates in the grinder during the brewing cycle, leaving a wet and sticky mess because of the residual coffee grounds in the grinder.

Although its a messy cleanup, this is a bearable problem if you don't plan on making another pot prior to an overnight air dry of the grinder. However, if you do attempt to make another pot, then the residual moisture creates even greater problems because you cannot sufficiently dry the grinder to prevent an even greater quantity of coffee grounds from sticking in it during the next brewing cycle.

I suppose that you could use a hair dryer to thoroughly dry the grinder, but that's more trouble than its worth. Consequently, I have gone back to using a separate grinder, thereby avoiding the messy cleanup and maintenance problems.

In short, the cleanup is much easier if you use a separate grinder. I thus use this coffee maker with the grind feature turned off. However, this nullifies one of its major selling points. Thus, I would not recommend this product.



"So far so GOOD", This coffee works great. Take a little longer to clean it but well worth it. No problems so far and the coffee is strong like I like it and Stay HOT... Would recommend to anyone looking for a Grind and Brew Coffee Maker

"I will never buy another coffee maker", I just purchased this coffee maker to replace my Cuisinart Coffee on Demand. This is the second coffee maker like this that I have owned and I am glad that I have come home. When my coffee on demand went out, I purchased another brand coffee maker and returned it within 3 days.

My husband and I consider ourselves coffee snobs and about a year ago began purchasing our coffee whole bean solely and thought it would be a great "ease" in our morning coffee routine to own this machine again.

I have read reviews about the difficulty of cleaning and noise of the grinder. It is actually really easy. After I grind and brew a pot of deliciously strong, rich, hot coffee; I open the lid and take out the grinder rinse it off with hot water and set it on a towel. I then take out the gold tone filter, empty the grounds, rinse it and set it on the towel. Then I remove the filter basket and lid and rinse them and set them on the towel. I leave the top lid open to dry out the inside and by the time I am ready to brew another pot of coffee all parts and inside of the machine are dry and ready to go. All together it takes me less than minutes to clean it. And then when all the parts are ready for a deep clean, I through all parts, including the carafe and lid, into the dishwasher. Piece of cake.

All in all this is the most incredible coffee maker that I have ever owned and the easiet to use and I don't have to worry now about replacing my worn out bean grinder, my coffee maker doesn it for me.

And a note about the grinder basket. I have read reviews that have said that it doesn't hold enough beans for a full 12 cups and then it can't be adjusted for the 1-4 cup feature. The grinder holds just as many beans as what I used in my counter top grinder for 12 cups. And if you only want to brew 1-4 cups of coffee, only put in enough beans for 1-4 cups. The grinder will still run for the 30 seconds that it is set for the 12 cups but it works well and you don't even realize it's doing it.

I would highly recommend anyone who loves to brew whole bean coffee, whether occasionally or everyday, to buy this machine. You don't have to always brew whole beans it this machine, you can turn off the grinder and place pre-ground coffee right into the filter. Also a piece of cake.

I would also recommend that you try the gold tone filter that comes with it. It mixes the oil from the whole bean in with the coffee and gives such a boost in the coffees smoothness and flavor.
