"Great Travel DVD Player" This portable DVD player offers a crystal clear image, large screen and great placement of controls. Happily, it came with a car charger -- a HUGE plus when taking this on the road to keep a little one entertained! The rotating screen is a great feature when traveling on the plane and we are very happy with this purchase. "It's OK" I bought this because of all the good reviews here. I was quite disappointed when I used it for the very first time. First, the resolution is pretty bad. I could not find any spec. on resolution, but it looks to have no more than 150 lines. Probably much less The other thing I don't like is the zoom feature. There are only the Normal and Full modes. When you select the Full mode, it stretches you screen more horizontally than vertically, so everything looks fatter on the screen, kind of like watching a 4:3 movie on the 16:9 format. If you watch a wide screen format movie, your choice will be (Normal) a small screen with black bars all around, or movie with fat people and small black bars on top and bottom of the screen. I should say that I've never owned another portable DVD player before, so I don't these shortcomings are common. I will check out other units and may have to return this one. "Good DVD Player" It's been just a month or so since I have purchased this DVD Player. But, I must say that I am very well satisfied with it. I must say, however, I had done review of available DVD Players on various web sites. The reviews posted by many other customers have been very helpful in making my decision. I could easily narrow down my search on this one based on the price, customer satisfaction and few other aspects I was looking for. "Best $ ever spent!" I bought this DVD player for road trips with my boys, ages 5 & 3. It is the best $150 I have ever spent. We have the black model (they don't care about the color). It is easy to use and operate. The remote control is big, but that make it easy to push the buttons. The car cigarette adaptor is convenient for road trips. It is easy to charge the battery. I have only used the battery for about 30 min each time, so I can't speak to battery life, but it is very easy to hook up and use. My kids love this thing and it works great to keep them entertained in the car or when I am at doctor's appointments. I also like that this player comes with hookups to connect into a tv when you are travelling (though I haven't used this yet). Because it comes with AC adaptor, cigarette lighter adapter, and hookups to a tv, it seems to come with everything that you need. My chief complaint is the sound. Reviews of other products also mentioned that sound is a problem with portable DVDs. My solution has been to use headphones. This player conveniently has 2 headphone jacks. Headphones are pretty much a necessity when you are on the interstate, because driving 75 mph combined with big trucks beside you, you just can't hear the player. I would recommend this player to anyone, but buy some headphones. "Sony" Item arrived in perfect condition. It plays for over 6 hours. It is way more convenient than a laptop. We use it for travel, for exercise video's, for just watching a movie outside on the lounge. Great picture as well

"Works well with no problems", We bought the player for a long trip, and it worked very well. We have continued to use it both in the car and at home. "Nice portable DVD player...", We bought this for a trip to Illinois this summer to keep the kids entertained in the back seat for a long car ride. We encountered -0- issues and 6 months later we still have no issues with it. We charged it up before we left and got through about 2 Spongebob DVDs before it needed to be plugged into the car charger...or about 3 hours worth of run time. This will likely begin traveling with me on my cross country flights as 3 hours is generally more than enough time to get in a movie flying coast to coast. The only strike against it was that it does not always read the DVD when inserted. A few power cycles and everything seemed to be fine. Is it the best mini DVD player...no...is it functional...yes. The video is acceptable, and the audio is o.k...this is not a high end mini DVD player, but I don't think that's what Sony is after here. The included cables and remote also allow you to watch this on a TV while at the hotel...bonus if you regularly travel with kids and there's not a whole lot to do in the places you stop for a night. "Great product excellent value", We love our sony portable DVD. It is small and light weight and delivers a quality sound and picture. Would highly recommend. "move over reading in bed...", I've always been the type to go to bed with a book. Now however, I have a choice: book or dvd! Due to life's committments, I'm unable to stay "current" with movies. Now, thru Netflix and this little dvd player, I can snuggle up in bed and watch those movies I've been wanting to see but didn't have the time. And with headphones attached I don't disturb my husband if he's reading or sleeping. While the speakers are ok, they are not strong enough to use if I'm trying to watch a movie while preparing supper. But, just having the verisitility or watching anywhere on a player that is the size of a hardcover book is pretty nice. The picture quality is very good, the buttons and menu very easy to use. I wouldn't change a thing! "Great buy!", I bought this DVD player for my 2 year old grandson to watch on a car trip I was planning to take with him. We never made the trip, but recently, after losing power during Hurricane Ike, it came in so handy keeping him occupied. He would sit in his high chair with the DVD player sitting on the tray, headphones on and he was enthralled. Oh, how I wish we had it when we flew to Colorado a few months ago!! The audio is not very loud, but our intention all along was for him to use it with his headphones, so that was not an issue for me. With the headphones on, the sound is great. It seems quite durable and the picture is very clear. I'm a big fan of Sony video products. I was also excited to find that it came with a car charger as well. When my 20 yr old daughter saw it the other day, she wanted one for herself. It was perfect for what I needed it for and the price was right as well. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "The Answer Is Yes!", I am glad I decided on this purchase. I must say, I contemplated the price and did alot of comparison shopping. Great price for a quality sony. I was going to spend less, but I happend upon this little goodie. Worth every cent! They hooked me with the fact it can be used with any TV too. It is as simple as plugging in a lamp. Presto a sony quality dvd, cd and computer slide shows/presentations or even lectures for off campus learning. Not only portable but on a large screen too if you want. Very kool metallic blue smudge proof exterior. Easy to use. Love the battery last 6 hrs. (a little less w/o head phones). So what, you really need Head phones, speakers or your tv for Port. dvd players anyway. Awsome picture ,2 sizes-reg/wide screen. Picture is great in bright light, and day light. Very sturdy for travel use. Swivel screen nice for 2 person travel(of course 2 H phone jacks). Light weight, slips right in a backpack, messenger bag or even a medium sized purse. This is great for Air, public trans or just genreral travel. Love the baterry on the botton snaps right in an out, very good compared to the annoying port. dvd baterries that stick out and interfer with operating. All the claims in product description are accurate, love that! It easily plays dvd+r+rw,cd+r+rw, and jpg. Slide shows and productions.(did not use mp3,so cant comment). I am really amazed how great the 8in screen is! I thought about getting 9 or 10 inch and going a slight bit cheaper (or more expensive) with another brand, I am very glad I did not. The one thing is it does not come with 2 sets (or even one set) of head phones, as some cheaper brands do. BUYER BEWARE, You DO get what you pay for with electronics. It's NOT worth selling out for the cheaper brand just for some cheappy and uncomfy head phones. There are plenty of brand name head phones right on Amazon,for very fair prices( I found sonys for $16 and change and bought 2 sets). PLEASE REMEBER to get CUPPED EAR head phones to block out noise, especially durring travel. Your old foam walk man or new inside the ear mp3 head phones may work but only in a very quiet place, such as a libirary. The cupped ones provide much better sound experience and noise reduction. So, I hope this info helps, Great product at a great price. The delivery was on time and the product was packaged very well. Also everything was in working order. I Highly recommend this Port. dvd player, you get alot of product for your buck! And come on, it is a sony, they do tend to last much longer in general than some other brands I have heard about or ones I have tryed myself. "A+", shipment was fast and dvd player is perfect for our 2 year old. volume is a little low but other than that it's great! "Perfect", Our 5 year old grandson was able to use this on the airplane with ease. Picture quality and lengh of battery (5 hrs)was just great. Certainly a good value for your money and I would but it again. "Good Player - Will not play VCD's & Other region DVD's", I bought it for a long trip to Colorado. This player is solid and the buttons are solid and the do not appear cheap unlike the players from Magnavox, Audiovox etc., Charge appeared to last long enough for about 3 movies or longer though i did not measure it. Included cigarete lighter adapter is a great accessory. One big draw back i found with this player is that it will not play VCD's or DVD's from other countries, though it plays burnt DVD's and burnt CD's/MP3s just fine. It is a great 8" portable dvd player in the market for the price $119+9.95 shipping. "Smart Buy!", This is my first portable DVD player, so I don't have anything to compare it to. But so far it has met all my expectations -- long battery life, easy for my kids to use in the back seat of the car, and sharp picture. |
