What our customer's say!

"Great purchase!", My husband and I were spending a fortune on cappuccinos. We finally decided that we needed to just suck it up and purchase our own machine. The problem is that neither of us know much about machines. We are very much amateurs, so we wanted something easy, and were not willing to pay an arm and a leg for a machine. After extensive online research, I discovered this machine. It was one of the only ones that seemed to have consistent rave reviews, and was reasonably priced. We've had the machine for a couple of months now, and I am happy to report that this machine was worth every penny. The quality of the espresso and cappuccinos is excellent. It is extremely easy to use and clean. We read over the manual once in order to learn how to operate it, and haven't had any problems since. This was definitely a wise purchase, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, easy-to-use machine. I, as well as my neighbors and friends, are enjoying it very much!

"Saeco Magic Cappuccino machine", [Helpful? Not? Please vote, so I know someone is reading these :^) :: Beginner's Ease, but Decalcify, please. :: A great beginner's espresso maker. Also a no-muss, no-fuss alternative for those who want a cup of espresso, not a full-time hobby. It's easy to get drawn into the hunt for the "perfect pull" of espresso. If you're like me, and just want a "pretty dang good" pull every time, this machine is a nice option. To list why briefly:

* Hot water on demand; ready to cycle in less than a minute; nice for
..... warming/blanks
* Easy system priming JIC you run out of water; no turkey-basters - yuk!
* Pressurized (not commercial) portafilter is mostly idiot-proof - just keep it clean.
* Steam wand (pannarello?) is competent, but handle w/ care; it's partly plastic.
* Cappuccinatore is competent, but handle w/ care; it's partly plastic.
* Makes espressos, lattes and cappuccinos reasonably quickly
* Pods or loose ground coffee, pods are easier/cleaner, but cost more
* Cup warmer is ok, plus, again, there's hot water on demand
* Reservoir is a nice size, and easy enough to keep clean; plus it's clear
* Steam/hot water knob/valve feels substantial, and seals completely (you wouldn't
..... think this would be an issue, but it can be ...)
* Easy enough to wipe clean and maintain, though it could be easier to clean; I don't like cleaning.
* REMEMBER: Decalcify/Descale on schedule. It isn't hard, but very important.

Boilerplate: after having researched this machine on several sites that are run and maintained by true "coffee-snobs", aficionados and all-around experts, plus after reading most of what they had to say about 5 competing machines, this is the one I chose. It seemed to have the most features and highest ratings at it's price-point (~$300 or less) from the experts. It's a name brand, it has more goodies than I really see myself using, and the espresso pulls taste like the stuff you get in an Amsterdam or London cafe (or a Starbucks, for that matter). I got mine to avoid standard drip-coffee, and it sure is nice. I feel like I'm living the good life, and not continually spending a fortune at coffee shops. I calculated the breakeven point on this machine at 1 year (not considering the convenience and saved gas, etc. of brewing at home). I'm very pleased. If I win the lottery, I'll start looking at the more expensive, snootier, more temperamental machines. Until then, this is my 4-cylinder, automatic transmission, daily driver ;-) Did I mention the pressurized portafilter requires no tamping ... it's just too easy. Don't get roped into believing only a $1000-machine will satisfy your palate. Unless you're a professional-grade, skilled taste-tester, you will likely be able to find your own sweet spot with this machine, and save time and $$ doing it. Cheers!

"Almost too good!", I bought one of these machines in Italy a few years ago and it is still going strong there. It produces espresso that is almost too good, in the sense that the "schiuma", the foam on top of the coffee itself, is much thinker and denser than that of any espresso I have had at a caffe in either the U.S. or Italy. It also makes an excellently foamed cappucino, thanks to the included device that draws milk (2% works best) from a container and froths it to a very good consistency. I like it so much that I am about to order another for use here in the U.S.

"Great little espresso maker", I bought this espresso machine after using a similar one as a member of the espresso club at my job. We purchase our coffee beans from Starbucks and we are able to produce espressos, cappuccinos, and lattes which are far superior to the ones made in the store and for a fraction of the cost. It is a simple machine to use, and in my opinion, it's great for the beginning barista. The steaming wand is a nice feature, but I think it should have been made without any plastic parts. When I use it, I simply take the plastic part off and use just the stainless steel part. That way, it is much easier to clean. I don't see any use for the Pannarello milk-frothing device, as I don't like a lot of foam on my drinks.

I highly recommend this product and for the record, I purchased my Saeco Magic Cappuccino from a different online merchant.

"Great Machine", I bought my machine about 6 months ago and it has been absolutely great! Definitely a good investment. The only complaint that I have is that it is hard to find the cleaner for it. Other than that I have had no problems with it.
