"Used to be a great product; New bags make it useless!"
I've used the Diaper Dekor for 18 month now and loved it until I bought my first refill pack of the new biodegradable bags recently. They do absolutely nothing to contain the odor...the stench from my son's room wafts downstairs even if there is only a few poopy diapers.

I'm all for doing what we can for the environment. Like a previous poster, I too use Seventh Generation diapers and I also use environmentally friendly products whenever I can however, unlike that poster, I can't feel good about the benefits to the environment from using these bags if, in the process, I'm destroying the environment in my home!!!

I called the customer service number and the rep I spoke with was beyond disinterested and suggested I look for the old style bags on Ebay. When I pushed for more information, he did acknowledge that the opinions expressed here have been relayed to them by many, but he said there are no plans to improve the product or bring the old bags back.

The poor quality of the new bags was annoying but the company's lack of interest in the problems people are having was too much. I guess I need to purchase another system. Too bad, I really liked the Diaper Dekor a lot and had recommended it to many.

"We like 'em"
I've been seeing all kinds of poor reviews on this product since "they changed it." Apparently, we never used the earlier version as they've always come in a two-pack and were always biodegradable - in our experience. That being said, we like this product much more than the Diaper Genie because of not having to shove our hand down into the bag and we don't notice any more smell with this product than the other. Of course, we don't leave 'dirty' diapers in it, only 'wet.'

"Regal-Lager should be ashamed."
We have been using our Diaper Dekor Plus happily for a couple years, then they changed to these stupid biodegradable refill bags.

Who cares if the bag is biodegradable if it impedes what the product was designed to do? The Diaper Dekor was designed to "manage odor". These bags do not contain the odor.

Who cares if the bag is biodegradable if the diapers inside are not? I wish disposable diapers were more environmentally friendly, but the truth is they are not. So a biodegradable bag is a sham to get you to pay more for a "green solution" that serves no real purpose and fails to contain odor.

Who cares if the bag is biodegradable if the refills are sold in pairs rather than 3-per-box as before? If you were buying two boxes in the past (6 regular refills), you now have to buy three boxes (6 biodegradable refills). I suspect the "green benefit" of the biodegradable bags is more than offset by extra packaging.

They don't contain odor... biodegradable bags are unnecessary when they are wrapped around non-biodegradable diapers... the green impact is offset by additional packaging... And, oh yeah, now they cost more per refill.

Sheesh! Everything about this product change is BAD! I am just glad that my kids are all but done with diapers so that I can FreeCycle the Diaper Dekor Plus and prevent Regal-Lager from making another sale on this declining product that used to be highly rated by parents.

"hope manufacturer reads reviews and listen to customers"
biodegradable refills do not work on keeping smell in.. go back to the original refills please!

"Excellent Product"
This is an excellent product for being both functional and biodegradable.

We use Seventh Generation diapers and the biodegradable bag means that they will degrade sooner to expose the diapers to biodegradation sooner. We use biodegradable trash bags as well. Composting or flushing the diapers is not an option as we live in the city.

We really love the lack of plastic smell with the biodegradable diapers. The normal liners have a strong perfume smell to mask the smell of the diapers. The less perfume and dyes the better.

The bags have never broken.

We put our diaper pales in the guest bathrooms on the first and second floors of the house that both have high throughput Panasonic fans. The smell is only a minor issue. We could never understand why people put diapers pales in bedrooms.

We only buy these bags now.

What our customer's say!

"Destroyed a Great Product", In a miss guided attempt at being "green" Diaper Dekor has destroyed a great product. Not only did they effectively raise the price by 33% (going from 3 bags to two in the box) but they also created a product that no longer stops smells.

"Bad Move", I ditto everyone else's complaints. I'm just going to keep the container and try putting in regular heavy plastic garbage bags. I just can't stomach buying another box of these new refills when they are so awful.

What were they thinking???

"Better than anything else on the market!!!", I was disgusted at the number of negative responses to these bags. I'm on my third child and have used the Diaper Genie and the Diaper Champ. This far exceeds those. The amount of people that commented on "who cares if they are biodegradable" is astonishing. GET A GRIP PEOPLE! Every little thing helps. You might as well tell your children you don't care what kind of world we are leaving for them. And for those of you who think there are no biodegradable disposable diapers...try diapers.com and check out Nature Babycare-completely biodegradable disposable diapers. They are amazing, even overnight. (My baby is 8 months old) I wouldn't use Pampers, Huggies, etc. if someone gave them to me now. Even Earth's Best and Seventh Generation are only environmentally friendly-not completely biodegradable. I think this is a huge step in the right direction--WAY TO GO DIAPER DEKOR!

"get 'em cheaper", after reading all the bad reviews I googled the diaper dekor and found the refill for a lot cheaper on drugstore[dot]com

Love the diaper dekor plus used it for four kids now, disappointed at what I'm reading about the refills

"The new bags are terrible!", Could the new biodegradable bags be any more terrible? I have been using this system for a little over a year and loved it. It kept the smells inside the can and out of my nostrils. I recently had to get the new refills and it's been downhill ever since.

1. Why have biodegradable bags when MOST people don't use biodegradable diapers. Yep, biodegradable diapers are an option and a few companies sell them. I think most people find them to be cost prohibitive to buy on a regular basis. Why not go with what the MAJORITY of people use. Did Diaper Dekor study that in their focus groups?

2. Something about the biodegradable bag DOES NOT keep the smell in. It's disgusting.

3. The same box only contains 2 refills now instead of 3. The 2 are a little bit cheaper, but I'd rather just have the old ones!

It would be great if they gave the biodegradable bag as an OPTION, but not force all of us to use it. Now I have a worthless can with worthless refills and a kid who's almost out of diapers. But, I will probably go buy a different brand of diaper can because I can't stand how much this one now sucks. What a waste.

I encourage you to give your feedback to the makers of Diaper Dekor. You can do so on their website. I got this response back: "In our focus groups, there have been no differences in the effectiveness between the old Dekor refills and the new Dekor biodegradable refills." I think they need to come to Amazon and read some of these reviews!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"New Bags suck!", I want a return on the 3 Dekor bins we have since these new bags are worthless. So disappointed.

"horrible...loved the previous refills but now the room smells like poop after one diaper!", these new refills are horrible! we were happy with the diaper dekor until they changed the refills. that is great to save the environment and we are all for that but they still don't make the diapers degrade and now my sons room smells like poop after one diaper! this is so frustrating! we are now going to have to buy a new system and my son just turned 2 so we were so close to being done. They should at least give you a choice of the old or new reills....bad move

"Why Ruin Such a Great Product?!?", Count me in with the many other reviewers who can't believe how Regal-Lager completely ruined what had been one of our favorite baby products. These new bags erase just about everything that had been a positive about the Dekor diaper disposal system.

Compared to the old refill bags, there are nothing but cons:

* The new bags completely fail to block any odor in at all. You'd might as well just pile the dirties in the corner of the room.

* The biodegradability is a sham appeal. Assuming that you're not buying biodegradable diapers as well, then what's the ecological benefit? This seems to be a bald-faced shakedown to take advantage of the "green craze" and people's good intentions.

* The new bags are a terrible value - 2 per box whereas it used to be 3 per. And so what if your container is Plus-sized when you now need to change it after every single deposit? The knots have always been the biggest waste of material, and you'll be running through them like mad with these new bags. I was stunned to see how quickly I have to replace these bags compared to the old ones - generally about every three weeks vs. the 8 - 10 weeks that I used to get.

However, despite my utter disappointment with the new refills, I'm still a fan of the Diaper Dekor system. Its ease and simplicity make everyday use a nonevent. I'm thinking about investing in one of the smaller-sized Dekors because the old refills are still available at some retailers in that size.

"I'm switching systems", After a good year using the old bags with twins, I am switching to a new system. The refill bags are way too expensive for us now.

"Bio-degradable - Company makes more money", Unless the diapers are bio-degradable, who cares if the bag that surrounds it is bio-degradable. So now my son's diapers will be everywhere out of the bag. Great, I feel better. Two refills instead of three is another way to say we got ya! Hello Diaper Champ bye bye Dekor!!!
