"Works well" I used this product today to clean my dryer duct (about 13 feet with several elbows). I was surprised by how much lint came out - about half a grocery bag worth. It was compacted so it is unlikely that it would ever have blown out on its own. This was a quick and painless process. While you're at it, you should also open up your dryer and vacuum it out. I recommend this product. "Dryer vent solution" This tool is well made and easy to use - it solved the problem for our dryer vent that exits through the attic. I was shocked at how much lint was built up in the vent, and our dryer finally works properly again! "fantastic purchase" my dryer was taking 3-4 hours per load!. I got this (and the extention since my dryer vented thru the roof) and i couldnt believe how much lint i took out with this tool. My dryer is now working properly. This was easy to use, worked great and was shipped quickly. "Worked Great!" I originally used a leaf blower to blow out our dryer duct when we first moved into our 30 year old home. A LOT of lint came out and my wife was happy with the results. Even so, we still decided to purchase this kit and clean it properly. WOW, it was amazing to see that much more junk come out! The process was pretty easy. It took me longer to clean out the laundry fan itself than to clean both ducts. I used the dryer to blow out the lint. My duct was pretty plugged up so I cleaned it a little bit at a time. There wasn't enough airflow to blow out the big chunks of lint, so I had to jiggle the brush around a lot to knock it out in smaller bits. You definitely do NOT want to get that brush stuck halfway in the duct! The duct had three elbows. One was a pain. It must have been quite plugged. The brush slipped right through the other two so quickly that I was surprised when I hit the end! "Ditto....on all counts" Honestly, I can't add much more than what you've already read, but I will... This tool just plain works as advertised. I had to clean approx 40' of vertical/horizontal dryer duct and it did an excellent job. I bought the extension pack but didn't use it because it was working so well with the included extensions I didn't want to press my luck. I needed to inspect the horizontal run through the attic and I was hoping not to have to climb up there. But to be safe I got in the attic and inspected the ductwork just to be sure. It was as clean as the dryer duct in the included DVD instructional video. This tool costs just $30+ and it had to save me hours and certainly $ on this project. I don't own a cordless drill, so it got a full-powered corded drill instead. No problem...just exercise a little caution when running it the full length.

What our customer's say! "Works like a champ on the dryer vent, not so well on the gutter", My wife noticed the drying time taking longer and longer, almost to the point of us kicking the 2-year-old Whirlpool Duet out to the curb. She found this product via a Google search for sources of long drying times. I read the several positive comments and thought it made sense that our vent may be clogged with lint. I had the 15+ foot dryer vent cleaned in less than an hour, including cleaning from the roof (vertical run from the dryer to roof) access and from the garage connection next to the dryer itself. After the cleaning, I swept up a decent pile of lint, just as others had reported. We are both surprised how much better the dryer now works. Drying time was reduced from about 2 hours down to 45 minutes for the toughest-to-dry clothes. I really recommend that you try this before calling the service technician out to tell you that the dryer works fine. The cleaning system also says it can clean gutter drain spouts. I tried using the flex rods and the special blade attachment provided in the box. It worked pretty well but caught itself on some tight turns and bends. Those rods are not very forgiving if you get them extra twisted, especially on a powerful cordless drill. I didn't have any problems when cleaning the dryer vent with the larger diameter metal tubing. I think this product is best used for the dryer vents as it was designed; make sure you use good common sense and wear your eye protection and keep the drill torque/speeds on the low side. "Good product works as described", I used this product to clean my Drier vent ran into some problem, but all were self induced. The vent was as clean as new when I was complete, really helped my peice of mind, and the dryer works much better. Highly Recommend doing this! "Works, but brush attachment is fragile", I used this to clean my 22 foot vent run. While it does work, the instructions to set the drill clutch slip point could use some work. I set it as described, but still stripped out the vent brush, during the first use. The brush hub is plastic and the flexible rod that screws into it is too small, so the threads in the plastic strip easily. This would be an easily fixed design error, and I guess I'll have to fix the stripped brush on my own, I just don't think I should have to. I tried to contact Gardus to get a replacement, but got no response. So I suspect that this is a common occurrence and is too expensive for them to either correct the brush design or give replacements for failed parts. The parts in the box are useful for cleaning both the vent and the dryer. Other than the brush being easily damaged, it is a well thought out kit. Update...a new brush showed up on my door step today. Gardus came thru with a replacement part. "LINT EATER IS THE WAY TO GO.", Bought the lint eater with doubts. Pulled out at least a pillow full of lint.ALSO up on my roof (where it was wired to keep birds out)was plugged solid with lint. After cleaning, could not believe the short time to dry the cloths 40 minutes verses 3 hours. Easy to use -worth every penny to get it. Paul P. The tube length for dryer to outside vent was about 13 feet, and when I ran the cleaner I was covered in lint from head to toe. Absolutely awsome! Fast and Easy! Well worth the money I would recomend this product to any family or freind. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "LintEater - Excellent Product!", Thank you very much for this excellent product. We have been having problems with our dryer taking forever to dry our clothes and I discovered the vent was jam packed with lint. I attached a small cleaning brush to a "fish tape" of the sort that electricians use and managed to work it through the entire vent. When the scrubbing produced no additional lint, I hooked the dryer back up, but still no air flow. I have about 18 ft of dryer vent hidden in an inaccessible partition between two floors. I could see that about 3 ft at each end was clear via visual inspection. I naturally assumed that I had removed all the obstructions because my brush could travel freely through the vent. Looking for any info on this problem, an internet search found this product. The web site instructional video is also excellent. Since my only other option was to run new vent or tear out the old one, it seemed worth a try. The flexible rods navigated the vent without any problem and an amazing assortment of lint, twigs, leaves, etc came flying out. Problem solved and our dryer is now running perfectly! To make it even easier to use, I fed the push rod through a two foot metal pipe. While my right hand held the drill, I held on to the metal pipe with my left and this prevented the last push rod from a tendency to twist up on itself. This product should be sold in every hardware, plumbing and HVAC store. I especially like how thorough the kit is - complete with useful extra fittings and DVD. Modern dryers will turn off or kill the flame when air flow is impeded. Older models will just continue to run at max temperature - creating a fire hazard. So you might have someone return a dryer as malfunctioning when it is simply a lint blockage. All in all an elegantly simple and 100% effective product. "Make Your Wife Happy", My wife had been complaining (and probably running up our electric bill significantly) for the last few months about it taking 3 cycles to dry towels. We've got the most bizarre dryer vent around. It goes down in the laundry room floor for 3 feet, then under the slab foundation for 18 feet, then back up in the exterior wall for 4 feet where it exits in the brick outside. She called around and was quoted $150-200 for a duct company to come out and clean our dryer vent. I immediately started searching for a better way and discovered this product and ordered it, along with the extensions. Following the instructions, I hooked up my vacuum inside while trying to go outside with the brush, extension and drill. The unit made the first 90degree turn easily to go down 4 feet, but unfortunately, could not make the second 90degree turn to continue under the slab. I actually twisted up my second rod and ruined one segment. Regrouping, I instead took my leaf blower/vac and duct taped the vacuum side of it to the vent outside. Going inside, I inserted the rod and brush and stretched down with my arm to make the first 90degree turn below the laundry room with my arm. From there I continued adding segments cleaning towards the outside until I reached that last 90 turn in the exterior wall. I knew I could go no further so accepted it as done. I also used the thinner brush to clean inside the dryer itself as far as it would reach and pulled out a lot...a lot of lint. My shop vac did not have the same hose size as the attachment that came with the unit so I had to re-engineer the connection using duct tape to get a tight fit, but then found that my leaf vac had much more suction power and opted to use it instead, in my own configuration, not exactly matching anything they suggested in their book or DVD. The DVD accompanying the product is actually very clear with recommended alternatives. Irregardless of my difficulties due to the insane duct design, my wife did a huge load of towels and wow, it made all the difference. One cycle and dry! And you wouldn't believe what was sucked out of the duct!!! It's amazing what can make a wife happy these days! "worked well", Cleaned my dryer vent out and my drying times have improved noticeably. Easy to use, I used it from the inside since my dryer vents to the roof and I didn't want to go up there. It worked very well and I was able to clean out 5 years worth of built up lint in under an hour. The extra dryer cleaning brush is a nice bonus and is better quality than the cheap ones you find at the hardware store. This kit is a must have for any homeowner. "Beware!", If you're looking at the Gardus #R-1203615, it claims to come with Five 36 inch rods, well it doesn't. this product has been discontinued and has been replaced by # RLE202 that only comes with Four 36 inch rods. I have a newer home where the duct goes straight up through the roof so I needed that extra rod and 15 feet of reach was the reason I bought this unit over another. But they do however offer more rods seperately... at an additional cost. "Actualy works as advertised!!", Very few products work as well as they do in the advertisement. I was really surprised by this product. I have a dryer vent pipe that is about 30 feet of 4 inch schedule 20 PVC running through the slab foundation. It cleaned an amazing amount of lint out of the vent pipe. The only thing negative I can say about it is that you can't buy replacement parts individually. If I ever wear out the little brush, I will have to buy a whole new kit. |
