"Love the Sophistication and safety"
Thankfully I ordered this at the same time I ordered my Kindle, because I instantly hated the provided case. This M-Edge case, which I got from their website, is more polished and professional to suit my daily look as I tote it about.

I like that the Kindle is secure from movement and the cover is sturdy enough to buffer it against falls, etc.

Having pockets is great because I can put my USB cord in it in case I spontaneously need to transfer files from laptop to Kindle. I also keep my headphones in a pocket -- I make sure the hard parts or inside the pocket and don't press against my Kindle.

Contrary to other reviews, the cover folds back just fine for me. I use the closure tab to keep it folded back while I read.

I love this.

Now, I just need to find the perfect carry all bag for those times when I need to take my recharging cord along for trips.

"Nice Cover Works well!"
I liked this cover much better than the one that came with the Kindle. I would have kept it if they had not come out with an all leather one. This one holds the Kindle in place nice and securely without worry of it falling out. Folds back easily for those who like to read that way. I do. Easy enough to get to the buttons in the back too. Unlike the original cover. I like the tab style closure better than the tacky strap on the cover that came with the Kindle. Nicely padded too. Over all worth the money for the peace of mind of not having my Kindle fall out.

"Leather Cover Arrived Before Kindle"
While waiting for my Kindle to arrive, I've been reading the forums, blogs and lists about all things Kindle. The leather case was the first item to arrive. Since I haven't received my Kindle, I can't speak to how well this case holds the Kindle in place compared to the cover it ships with.

BUT, I love the look and feel of this black leather case. I also like the way you can fold it back and have something to hold onto while you read. I have to believe that will help avoid accidental page turns so many have complained about. I also like the small pockets on the left side.

It will fit smartly in my purse to hold my new toy. Can't wait for my Kindle to arrive so I can try it on for size.

UPDATE - May 17th - I've had my Kindle for quite a while now, and find this to be a fantastic cover. It looks nice, protects my Kindle well, and is very easy to hold while reading.

When my Kindle arrived, I looked at the one that came with it but promptly put it in the box and have never used anything but this cover.

"Better than I thought"
I almost didnt buy this because of the so so reviews, but I broke down and got it. Glad I did. The product is all around good, put together well and very handy. Some of the owners didnt like the fact that it didnt have the portion that fits into the screen on the Kindle. I havnt found this to be a problem. To me it protects the device as well as the case that came with it, in fact I think it holds it in better. My favorite part is something that another owner griped about. You can fold the cover over and the locking flap will slip into the hole and it holds it back. Makes it a whole lot easier to handle and read, more like a real book. So yeh, happy with this cover.

"Speaking only for me....I Like It"
I have owned this cover for approximately a month. Fortunately, I haven't had any of the issues listed in the other reviews.
-So far, no smell, no rubbing off of color.
-The mighty brite light attaches well.
-Regarding the price. We spent $400.00 for our Kindles. Investing a mere 10% of that in protecting it from falling out of the original cover is insurance I'm willing to pay for. Mine hasn't fallen out of this cover once, as it secures all corners. (I have accidentally dropped my Kindle while in this cover with no catastrophic fallout whatsoever. BTW my house is predominately stone and marble flooring.)
-I totally agree with the other reviewer, that I'm loathe to put a pen in the pen holder for fear of an ink explosion.
-The cover is attractive and protective. Nuances aside, this reviewer is more than pleased with this purchase.

What our customer's say!

"Unusable, Perhaps Defective?", The negative feedback seems to be spot on. I should have paid more attention. The lower right hand corner strap is much smaller than the two on the left side. As a result, I am not able to fit the Kindle in the case, which may be that mine is defective. I will be returning this promptly. The original is a better product.

"catmanpete", This is a GREAT PRODUCT!!! My Kindle fits perfectly in this case while being able to use all of the functions of the Kindle, keyboard, all of the buttons, etc. This is the case that Amazon should be providing with the Kindle instead of the piece of garbage that comes with the Kindle!!

"Really bad service", My review concerns more the quality of delivery of the product than the product itself. I paid for next day delivery. The POST OFFICE tried to deliver it two days after it was shipped, but I was out. Of course the seller had in their wisdom decided that I needed to sign for the product. Having bought through Amazon for years I've never required a signature for delivery.

So, when I went to the post office to pick up my package, they couldn't find it.

In sum, I can't really say what the product is like because of the terrible delivery service. I am stopping payment and will probably never see the product.

"Good but not great. Missing a couple of nicer touches", This cover is a more professional product than the standard cover that comes with the Kindle. The leather is soft (but perhaps too thin?) and smells good. I don't have any of the issues with dye transfer that others have noted. My Kindle fits inside it very snugly and I have no fear of it falling out.

I think it is missing two features that would make me give it a fifth star. First, I believe the case it self could be just a little thicker and less pliable. I carry my Kindle in my computer bag in a front pocket with a constant nagging worry about something crushing it. Second, I would like to see the closure use a snap instead of the slot and tab type it current uses. The leather is thin and soft enough I sometimes have trouble getting the tab into the slot.

"Great Kindle case!", I bought the M-edge case for my Kindle after reading about it in a forum. I didn't care for the case that came with the Kindle since it didn't feel secure and was awkward to hold. The M-edge executive case is very secure and quite easy to use with the cover folded back. I'm very happy with it and when it wears out, I plan to replace it with the leather version. It's a very nice product.

"I Really Like This Cover.", I like this cover much better then the original.
The the Kindle fell out of the Original Cover and
sometimes took the battery cover with it.
The M-edge holds on to the Kindle much better.
The feature I like best is that when the cover
is folded back on itself there is approximately one inch
of cover on the right hand side that you can hold on to.
I hardly ever turn the page accidentally anymore.
I will keep this one until Piel Frama, " [..]"
comes out with a Kindle cover.

"At Last My Kindle is Complete!", I consider the Kindle's cover to be an integral part of the device, essential to its use; in fact, I don't understand how people can read an uncased Kindle without hitting buttons by accident every few seconds. So, for me, the cover is _very_ important indeed. From Day One, I had nothing but trouble with the original Kindle-cover; despite modifications and all the suggestions on the forums, my Kindle kept falling out over and over again. Indeed, it was the only thing I _didn't_ like about the product. I've only had this new one for 48 hours, but already it's proved to me that _it will hold my Kindle securely_, which is its main design function, and where the original failed.

While I respect the opinions of others, I can't imagine what more they could want or expect from a Kindle cover. It's overpriced, yes. But, that's natural enough given that there isn't much yet in the way of competition, except for sleeves that cannot be used to hold the device while reading. This is the price of early adoption-- me, I consider this product cheap at the price, considering the protection it offers which my original "droppy" cover cannot. The only thing that worries me is the comment from another buyer about the dye coming off. If I have the same problem, I'll add a postscript.

I'll also mention here that my _ideal_ Kindle cover would be a hard plastic clamshell, incorporating a built-in adjustable reading light and prop-legs to act as its own bookstand. Currently, I'm using a Bible-cover to haul around my "reading kit" containing the Kindle, stand, and seperate light. It's awkward, and unnecessary. When someone markets such an all-in-one product, I'll gladly buy it.

"Not worth it", I just received mine and I would *not* recommend it.

First, it feels flimsy, which translates to its not so great ability to protect your $400 investment
Second, I did not see anything that would make it any easier to access the wireless/power on-off switches
Third, when opened and folded, it is uncouth, as the cover leaves a lot of space on the left, reminding me of ill fitting clothes.
Finally, the price of $39.95 is a lot for what you get. I would recommend it as a backup at 19.95 but not at 39.95.

"Disappointed!", I have been using this case for a week. To me the bad outweighs the good and I think I will stop using it.
The good - The tabs on the four corners. It holds the Kindle securely in place.
The OK - it looks better than the old case and the closing tab is nice (better than the elastic)

The bad - flimsy and I am not convinced it will protect my Kindle adequately.
The material on the inside of the cover is marking my fingers black and thus smudging the Kindle to where it really looks dirty. This last bit was the one that convinced me to go back to the old cover.

"Quality Product but I Still Have Reservations", I just received this case in black:

- it smells funny at first but fades as it is exposed over time to air (it's packed in a plastic bag for shipping). The smell reminded me of a combination of glue/fake leather.

- the sides are far less rigid than the original case. There are reinforcements in the cover but they are not nearly as rigid as the original cover.

- it does a much better job of holding the Kindle in the case since there are now 3 little pockets and an elasticized strap.

- although there is now a strap over the top right (two pieces of elastic held together by a little bridge of fake leather), once slipped off, it is really just the same trouble to access the back of Kindle for off/on switches

- the nice padded patch on the inside front of the original cover is missing on the M-Edge

I've decided to keep the M-Edge as a backup only. I'm nervous that over time, the comparative lack of similar rigidity of the original cover and the lack of the specific front inside padding could potentially damage the Kindle's screen either due to scratches or undue pressure on the screen itself. This is my fear, not a reality so evaluate accordingly.

Also, I generally felt a somewhat harder time holding the Kindle in the M-Edge case with one left hand only which could be due to the case not being as rigid as the original. I felt my hand was having to support more of the Kindle's weight, i.e. there was a sense of "unbalance" that was tiring to my hand. This is when the case's left front is folded behind the Kindle and while holding the spine of the cover in my left hand only.

Overall, M-Edge has made a quality product build-wise but not my "perfect" case yet. The only problem I have with the original case is the lack of holders on the right side - if Amazon would fix that plus create some accommodation for the backside switches access and I think the original case is still very nice.
(On the original case, I pull the elastic strap over the bottom right edge of Kindle to keep the cover on.)
