"Crazy Cat proof!", I decided to buy this for the locking lid alone. I have a 160 lbs. Great Dane that was knocking over the old can and making a mess. It works very well, cause I learned it wasn't the dog, but the cat knocking it over! She claws at the edge of the bag to get it to fall over, she can't seem to open this one and it frustrates her to no end! The pedal doesn't always work for me, I step on it and the whole can falls forward, but it's not a big deal. I can open the lid myself. It's the lock that makes this perfect for my crazy cat!

"Very Nice Trash Can", I have this exact same trash can only in the gray/titanium color or whatever they call it. It looks very nice with stainless appliances and black granite and you don't have to worry about smudges and fingerprints as you would with a stainless can. Overall it is a very nice trash can with several pros and IMO only a couple negatives.

Pros:
- Looks very nice (like I said, I have the gray but they all look nice).
- Easy to control the opening with the foot pedal so it doesn't fly open.
- It closes gradually instead of slamming down. This keeps the sound level low and prevents the lid from 'blowing things out', which can happen if a can is almost full.
- To change the bag, you simply open the lid and push it back beyond the normal range it goes with the pedal and it 'locks' open.

Cons:
- It slides on the floor very easily if you have a slicker floor. They should have put some rubber feet on the bottom but this is easily remedied by cutting a small rectangle of no-slip drawer/shelf/rug liner and placing it underneath.
- As others have said, it cannot be placed directly against a wall. This is not a problem for me but something you should be aware of.


Overall, I highly recommend this can in any of the available colors. The only real issue I've had with it is the sliding, which is easily fixed with some no-slip matting. Other than that it works great.

"Not Stable", The base on this trash can is not stable at all. Stepping on the pedal to open the lid nearly topples the can. We are very disappointed.

"Decent, could be better!", I bought this garbage can because I was tired of my old one being unable to keep everything covered for the night when the bag is only half full and not ready to be discarded. In other words, I was looking for something that would keep the garbage and the smell contained until the bag was full enough to throw out. I have to admit that this one did accomplish one of those goals: it is certainly spacious and keeps everything in the bag. However, it DOES NOT SEAL HERMETICALLY! Meaning it doesn't seal tight enough to keep smells in and very small flies out! That was a disappointment. Still, I can't complain too much because the manufacturer does not make the claim that it seals hermetically. Also, the step-on opening mechanism work quite well. So although I'm not pleased with the lack of airtightness, it functions as described so I somewhat approve, by giving it 3 stars.

"Nice, but average", It's durable and well made, but it is plastic. It seems a little expensive for a plastic trash can. It needs constant cleaning. It shows every streak. The can opens and closes very smoothly. Trash bags fit perfectly inside, and it is rather attractive(even for plastic). All things considered, I'd buy it again.

"Smartly done!", A kitchen trash can is hardly something one would get excited about, but finding something that is well designed and uses quality materials is a happy occasion. all I needed to do is take it out of the carton, snap the lid into place and it was ready to use. Kitchen trash bags fit very nicely and won't slide off the top as happens with other trash cans. It is sturdy and easy to use. It even looks nice. I recommend it.

"Sweet", This is about as nice a trash can as a trash can can be. Clean, ample sized, and the brushed nickle accents are nice without being overdone. The black is sharp. The soft-closing feature still amuses me, and its been a month. Honestly, it's a very neat feature... if you've ever owned a step-open can, you know how abrupt the slam-close usually is. Don't feel as though you're skimping with this model - after all, this is a trash can, not a center-piece.

As for the vendor - it arrived quite quickly, packed well, and with no issues. All in all, I am very satisfied with the purchase.

"40 bucks for a plastic trash can?", My last trash can was an expensive, stainless can with an inner liner, and foot pedal. It was pretty much rendered worthless when a little cheap plastic piece in the foot pedal broke. That can was a chore to do everything. Getting the bag in, was a pain. Keeping the bag from coming loose and falling into the can, was a pain. Getting the bag out, was the biggest pain. And whenever you used it, it would snap open and shut like a trap door, with a reverberating metal clang. This can, is everything that can was not. Ease of use is the name of the game. Bag goes in with ease, and stays locked in firmly. Nice large opening is actuated by a wide, sturdy foot pedal that closes softly. It's so nice to have things that just work, and work well. Cutting down on everyday aggravation really adds up. One minor issue is that being so light, it will tend to "walk" a bit. Once it gets backed against the wall, it get's off balance, as well as slaps the wall with the lid. Sticking a little box or spacer of some sort behind it fixes that problem. I've got 2 med-large dogs, but they are trained not to be dumpster divers, so no problems there.

"Good price for a nice looking trash can", It's worth the price I paid for it. It has a locking lid to keep the baby out. It's not very heavy to keep itself planted to the ground, but it works very nicely compared to other plastic step cans.

"Very Nice Kitchen Trash Can", Very handsome looking trash can for the kitchen. The step mechanism for opening/closing the trash lid is quiet. Makes no sound at all. Ample opening for throwing away items that are messy or larger. Any liners will work. Very sturdy. I would definitely recommend this trash can. Good price also.
