"Does the job"
We just bought this and made tortillas for the first time and think it worked quite well. True to the other reviews it came a little greasy, but with a simple wash it was fine. I actually use Pam spray to keep the masa from sticking so it's always a little greasy anyways. Took a few tries to figure out how to get them to the right consistency, but with the right masa mixture and a few attempts it makes great tortillas. The product is exactly what it says it is so I would recommend it.

"horrible product!"
I rate this product zero stars.
When I received this product, I opened the box and the product is greasy.
The inside of the box was black from the grease, but the greasy film on
the press was clear. I washed the press immediately. It is of very poor quality-there are no instructions or recipes or anything inside the box.
The press does not press out the dough thin enough-there are no adjustments you can make. I returned the product to Amazon.

"works great"
I found this press to be exactly as described. It works well and the tortilla's are great home made. I have used this many times and it seems to work well every time.

I put a ball of tortilla dough that I have flattened just a bit in the middle of this press and it works great.

"Not Impressed"
I've only used this product once so far and wasn't impressed w/the results. Tortilla was still pretty thick after multiple presses. I will try it a few more times with different recipes and if it still doesn't work, i will find another use for it!

"Don't buy this tortilla press!"
Imusa Victoria Cast Iron Tortilla Press, 8 Inch This tortilla press arrived covered in smelly, black grease which took several washings to get off. It is not well made and does not press evenly--one side of the tortilla is always much thiner than the other. I would NOT recommend this product.

What our customer's say!

"Works great for me!", The one I received had little grease on it, not that it would have bothered me much anyway.

It also presses the tortillas paper thin. In fact, I had to be careful not to get them too thin at first.

Recommend lining each side with plastic when pressing. Then transfer pressed tortilla to a piece of wax paper then onto the grill. That's just the easiest way we found to tranfer them.

Served warm with some queso fresca - yum!

"Tortilla Press for Dummies", This tortilla press is a formidable implement. It weighs a lot and would hurt like hell if you dropped it on your foot. It does, however, do an excellent job pressing rolls of dough into nice round tortillas. It would help, however, if there had been some instructions included in English. Maybe even a recipe or two?

"Great product", I really like this tortilla press. I love making my own tortillas and this makes the process so much easier. My only issue with this particular product is that it sticks. I have found that using squares of wax paper on top and bottom is the easiest way to get perfect tortillas.

"Tortillas stick to wax paper!", I tried everything but could not get this thing to work without tortillas sticking to the wax paper. I read a tip somewhere on these reviews, must find it again, otherwise this contraption is of no use. I wound up making them by hand...which turned out looking like a 5 yr old made them! LOL

"I broke two within minutes", I purchased one of these at a local store. The handle snapped off on the second tortilla I pressed, with very little pressure applied. Took the press back and got another. The base plate cracked after about 8 tortillas--again hardly any pressure. I was applying so little pressure on the second press, fearing that I'd snap the handle again, that the tortillas were coming out much to thick. It broke anyway. A worthless piece of junk. I'll just make my own out of wood.

"Cast Iron Tortilla Press Opinion", The tortilla press is exactly as it is described. The addition of a simple guideline for sample grams per tortilla would be a nice addition. Lodge cookware comes with a small booklet for product care along with recipes. Not so this brand.
