"Solid Wood - Not So Solid Manufacturing", I bought this to store spare computer parts in. It was intended as a replacement for a Sterilite four drawer bin that had seen better days.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this unit is solid wood; I thought it would be particle board with wood veneer finishing. It comes unfinished so staining is definately something buyers should consider before assembly if they want it to match their room decor. Me, I could care less so I left it as is.

Assembly is easy. The unit is fairly simple in design so the directions are uncomplicated. The wood seems to be a soft pine but is generally thick all around and should hold up well over time. Fit and finish of the major portions is generally good. The (Chinese) manufacturer provides more hardware than needed to put the unit together so don't be alarmed if some screws and such are left over!

The unit does fall down in the manufacturing arena:
- The holes for the cam locks on the drawers were drilled too large. This causes the cam locks to loosen and the drawers to flex and on occasion come apart after repeated use. To remedy this I had to Gorilla Glue the cam locks in place.
- Two of the eight drawer bottoms were cut just a bit too small and would slide out of their grooves after repeated use of the drawer. Again, liberal applications of Gorilla Glue in the grooves solved this problem.

In summary, this is a sturdy unit of quality materials that is let down by less than quality manufacturing. A genearlly good deal for those patient enough to make the needed modifications to it during assembly.
