"Can Colander/Strainer works great with Tuna fish & more !!!"
I just love this ingenious product. Growing up, my parents had a white plastic one, which they still have and use by the way, so I knew it was a good product. We used it ONLY for straining the water out of the tuna fish can - it worked great. I was always afraid of cutting my hand on the sharp edged tuna fish can covers and this was a perfect solution. I was able to get ALL the water or oil out of the tuna fish (I just hate it when there is some left in there - makes the tuna meat too mushy)and never cut myself. Well, now I own this stainless steel one and I know it will last a lifetime and look great. Worth the extra money. Also, I purchased a new can opener (see my other review for that) and it breaks the seal on the can and leaves NO sharp edges on the can. Well, when you get the smooth cover off, guess what? You can't use it to strain the juice out of corn niblets, peas or other canned vegetables. Well using my Stainless Steel Colander I strain all the water out of it, no problem. So now I use it more than ever. And I just rinse it out and put it in the dish drainer and it is ready for my next use. Truly a kitchen necessity. Don't miss out. Worth every penny and more.

"it works better on small cans"
This works better on small short cans of tuna etc., as you can squeese the drainer against the tuna to get the water (oil) out, and it won't spray back at you, like the lid does.
Large cans it won't work.

I use this with canned pineapple, but when I use crushed pineapple it doesnt go far enough into the can to really get all the juice out, same with the chuck pineapple.
If you really want to get the juice out, I still have to use the lid or a mesh strainer, and the back of a spoon..
I use crushed pineapple alot for Jello molds, and you have to have all the juice out, so this is not good for that.

If you want to drain liquid out of large cans of stewed tomatoes or what ever, this will not work, its too small, not wide enough for large cans.
It will drain regular cans of beans, but you can use the lid also! I still have to put my canned beans into a strainer and wash them if I want all that salty stuff off.

I did not pay this price, I personally don't think its worth $8.99,unless it was longer...For less money it was worth it though.

Not sure if this is a 3 star or 2?
But if you do use alot of small short cans this will work pretty good,or just want to drain some liquid from regular cans. Cleaning this is a breeze, and it is nice looking. ( for who I don't know! lol..)

Hope this was of some help.
Good luck...

What our customer's say!

"A must have", All I can say is that I wish I would have searched for this product a long, long, long, time ago. Takes all the pain out of the drain...

"Works Great!! Must Have!!", I wish you could find these in local stores...... I dropped into several stores looking for these.... Target, Williams Sonoma, CVS and a bunch of others..... They didn't even know what I was talking about when I went to the local Gourmet Kitchen Stores around town. If you haven't tried one of these you don't know what you're missing. The Stainless Steel one is nice and solid (doesn't feel cheap like the plastic ones) and worth the couple extra bucks. Quick shipping from this retailer.

"Also an Excellent Kitchen Sink Strainer!", I use it as a SINK STRAINER rather than a can colander. It fits perfectly in my kitchen sink drain, and is very easy to empty and clean. It is MUCH more sanitary than ordinary sink strainers--no rubber--no plastic--no moving parts. Dishwasher safe or hand cleaning with a little baking soda, Bon Ami or Barkeepers Friend keeps it clean and new looking at all times.

This is far better than sink strainers made out of stainless screen. Well worth the price--lasts forever.

"EXCELLENT PRODUCT! Won't make tuna without it! ", Perfect product for straining tuna or other foods that come in a can shaped the same way. I won't fix tuna salad without it now that I've got one. My boyfriend and his mother also have one each, and swear by it!

"Great", i love it. if you eat tuna fish with an regularity, you'll want this product.
