Others say...
"Saved My Kindle" I take my Kindle with me everywhere because, well, you never know when you're gonna have to sit and wait for something or someone. After taking it overseas with me and having it spend time in my backpack, the original case wasn't cutting the mustard - the right-side "Next Page" paddle started getting dinged and ever-so-slightly bent. (If you look at your Kindle sitting in that old cover, it slides out about half an inch where that paddle is at the mercy of whatever it bumps into) THAT freaked me out, so I bought this cover, in Saddle Brown. I read earlier reviews & discussion posts that were so overwhelmingly glowing that I thought they had to have been seeded by M-Edge people trying to generate interest. That made me suspicious until I opened up my cover and put my Kindle in. Now I don't care if they were or not - I love the case. It withstood a 3-month overseas trip with me in my backpack and kept my Kindle safe. No staining problem, either. "Quality leather, good interior features" I purchased this cover after reading reviewers' complaints about the cover that comes with the Kindle. After making the investment in the Kindle, I wanted the cover to be a good one. This cover truly is. The exterior is a soft slightly pebbled texture, supple and slightly padded. The tab latch is easy to use. The interior is a grey suede. The cover interior has pockets/slots on the left hand side. These turned out to be very handy during a recent trip as I was able to tuck my passport in a pocket along with my boarding pass, an unexpected bonus. The cover makes the Kindle look and feel more like a book. "Much Better" Very nice. I wondered what to do with the strap when the Kindle was in use. Decided to fold over the book cover and tucked it into the holder (picture provided). Also gives you an inch and a half on the left side making the Kindle easy to hold in the left hand. You need to make sure the top right holder is not twisted or else the "Next Page" tab is engaged. Can be an issue when you slide it off the Kindle to access the power and wireless connection switches. "Big problems with the upper left tab" I have a friend that bought the red version of this cover and loved it, but I have had big problems with the upper-left tab. It pinches the previous page button hard enough that it doesn't click gracefully anymore. Even worse, it activates randomly every 20 minutes or so and goes back about a dozen pages. I had to revert to the old kindle cover after an afternoon of frustration. I may try stretching the leather on the upper left tab to see if I can fix it. "Waiting for backorder -- but the pocket has one super value: identity" I'm still waiting for my backorder on this product, but I already see a very useful application for the inside pocket: it can hold a "belongs to" card very securely. The original Kindle cover has no obvious place to put such a label.

What our customer's say! "Lovely cover for Kindle", I bought this for my husband's Kindle, and he likes it. Good enough reason to recommend it, right? "Amazing", Amazing for Amazon Kindle...... original one which comes with Kindle isnt that great...... you need this one...... "Sub-Standard Quality, Overpriced, Poor Execution, Flea Market Bargain Bin Grade Item", I decided to overlook the many complaints about staining from this case, believing I could deal with those issues. But I wish now that I hadn't. Not because I have staining issues (yet - I just got it), but because the price to value ratio, and the construction of this item, make it a bad buy. Placing anything in the pockets of the suede lining generates a tearing sound as the suede rips away from the cardboard backing to which it is apparently glued. The suede itself is so thin as to be fragile. The stitching is inadequate in the size of thread, and the pitch too great. Fit and finish is poor. I do not expect this unit to last long, and I doubt that I can make use of the "pockets" without seeing failures occur in short order. I suppose the fact that this case stains people's Kindles should have been a clue that this item was of low quality. Had I paid flea market prices for this I would have not felt so bad about it, but I paid a price commensurate with a decent quality product. Why so many positive reviews about this product? I'm not sure. Perhaps there have been some production runs which were better quality. Or perhaps some folks are just more easily pleased. Whatever the reason, I would gladly replace this case with something else of better quality if I can find it. I strongly suggest you look long and hard for other options before buying this overpriced and sub-standard item. Zero Stars! "fantastic", I didn't hate the original case that the kindle came with but I sure didn't trust it completely and the cover to the battery kept coming loose. This one is absolutely fantastic--great leather smell, a little more heft to it, and the kindle is completely secure once I was able to squeeze it into its four protective corners. Gives the kindle a very classy look and feel. "Stylish, Sturdy Cover", Although the stock Kindle cover was working OK for me, I wanted something a bit more secure, based upon other users feedback. The M-edge cover is very secure, some might even think too secure. The Kindle is held in so tightly, even with the upper right strap loose, that it is a struggle to turn the device on or off. My biggest complaint about the cover is the closure strap. It has a natural curl to it, and over the course of a reading session it wants to flop in front of the screen. There needs to be a slot on the back of the cover, similar to the one on the front cover, to tuck the strap into when it is open. I have tried tucking it under the Kindle, but the thickness prevents the page forward button from working. Folding the whole cover in half and tucking it in the front cover slot works, but has to be shortening the lifetime of the spine. If it wasn't for that tab, it would be 5 stars. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Excellent choice", This is an elegant and beautiful morocco grain cover for the Kindle. The four corner pieces hold the Kindle far more securely than the original cover supplied by Amazon. While I didn't have any problems with the plastic tab not remaining in place, my Kindle did fall out of the original cover several times. This is not a problem at all with the M-edge cover. I have also not experienced the corner pieces causing any trouble with the next page or previous page tabs. Overall, I'd say that the slightly increased size of this cover makes holding the Kindle and reading easier. It also still fits into the leg pocket in a pair of 'cargo' pants. I clamp the Mighty Bright Book Light to both the front and back covers when open to avoid marking the outside of the cover and the light works fine. I was surprised when my cover arrived to find that the lining was gray. This , of course, eliminated the problem of staining the Kindle. The only drawback to the light lining is that it may be prone to accumulating stains. I can't praise this product enough. I looks and feels wonderful. If you like understated elegance, this is the accessory for you. "hold the Kindle well", Just a couple comments. The upper left tab tends to hit the prev page button. The upper right elastic has to be left off to keep it from hitting the next page button. It's still very difficult to get to the on-off button. In my opinion the workmanship isn't as high quality as the original Kindle cover. The bumpy black leather looks a little like vinyl. Not sure where all the new padding is that people are talking about on this revised version. The original Kindle cover had more. On the plus side, which is why I will continue to use it, my Kindle hasn't slipped in it yet. The change was so immediately apparent when I first put it on. I like the tab closure. And it's a little larger than the original Kindle cover. I feel the device is better protected in this cover. "Good cover, some dye transfer", The following observations adjust the score from 3 stars. Negative (-2 stars): There is a color transfer from the edges of the pockets stitched on the inside front cover. This is especially noticeable on the selection wheel and the bezel next to the indicator window on the right hand side of the Kindle. This would be unacceptable (-5 stars), especially considering the cover's price, but the dye cleans off easily and the transfer is preventable by placing a soft cloth or foam insert over the face of the Kindle when the cover is closed. I rarely close the cover except when transporting anymore, so I barely notice the problem. Note: my cover is black--other colors may not have this problem. Neutral (+/- 0 stars): I thought the pockets, especially the ones designed to hold memory cards, would be useful. What was I thinking? Even a single 1GB SD card allows for so many documents that the Kindle's simple file navigation system is overwhelmed. And I don't see myself popping off the Kindle's back cover to change cards all the time, though that would be a simple answer to library management. Maybe in future versions of the Kindle, if they place the SD card slot where we can easily get to it, the pockets will add value. For now, your mileage may vary on this feature, depending on how you use your Kindle. Also, be aware that this cover is appx 1/2" wider and 1/16" taller than the original cover. This doesn't affect me, but it may impact someone else's buying decision. It also feels heavier than the original, but I haven't had a chance to weigh both on an accurate scale so I can't give solid numbers. Finally, the slip-in leather tab for securing the cover takes a bit of getting used to, but it is preferable to any kind of hard snap or buckle. I don't want metal near my Kindle screen! I'm not sure about the magnetic closure another reviewer mentioned--once again, I don't want any hard metal surfaces near my screen and I'm not sure about the effect a magnet might have on the e-paper screen or the Kindle's other electronics. Positives (+ 3): As others have said, this is a solid cover that holds the Kindle VERY well. You don't even need the elastic on the upper right corner--the other 3 corner pockets hold the device absolutely secure. In the same way that the original cover adds to the Kindle's useability, this one does so even better. When the cover is folded back, you are given a nice, 1", easily held ridge on the left that makes one-handed reading a breeze. The heavy leather construction is a pleasure to handle and is a perfect mount for a good reading light. Summary: (3 - 2 + 0 + 3 = 4) I'm fairly bothered by a $50+ accessory transferring black smudges to my white $400 toy, so if I had a 3.5 star option, I'd give it that. The cover should protect the Kindle from the elements...I shouldn't have to protect the Kindle from the cover! M-edge really needs to ensure a higher quality lining material is used. Rather than pockets, I'd like to see a built-in leg I could use to prop up the Kindle for hands-free reading. Other than that, I'm impressed and feel this product improves the Kindle experience. "Superior Cover - but has some staining issues.", I got my Kindle on May 2nd and was frustrated with the original cover - so I ordered this leather cover and it is indeed superior to the original Kindle cover. There is an issue with the M-Edge cover possibly staining your clean white Kindle (if you ordered black). To keep this from happening to you, you can use the foam insert that comes with the cover when you close up the Kindle. This double protects the entire device and will prevent stains from occurring on the edges or surface. If you do encounter a stain, use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, with just a TINY DAB of water at the edge. Hope this is helpful! "Does the Job!", I really like this cover! Nice soft leather. Holds my Kindle in place nice and securely. Allows me to get to the buttons in the back without much effort. Folds over easily for those who like to read it that way. I know I do. Nicely padded to protect my Kindle. Has a pen holder and slots for SD card and business cards. I have not had any transferring of color onto my Kindle but I don't take it out of the cover much. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Beautiful cover and I don't worry about my Kindle falling out like it did with the cover that came with it. I highly recommend this cover!! Worth every penny! ![]() |
