Others say...
"Happy Purchase" Replaced a ten year old Microwave with this Sharpe R-320. Love the sensor technology that is built in to this unit, very happy with this purchase. "Sharp R320HQ microwave, bisque colored..." We ordered this microwave online because no one locally carried the Bisque color, and the price was better than if we ordered it from local vendors. Our old one died and we needed the bisque color to match our cabinets and appliances, which are all the bisque color. The only complaint I have about it is that the door is very loud when closing...has a real tinny, unpleasant sound. Not solid sounding. That's the only complaint about it that we have. "Great Features BUT NOT FOR POPCORN!!" I have used Sharp microwaves for quite some time (R-510H previous to this one)& love many of their features [minute plus, hot water button, keep warm function, audible signal elimination & the ability to set multiple cooking times so it will continue to cook at different powers, etc.) The Sharp R-320 has all of these features but I find it interesting that some reviewers say it does a GREAT job doing popcorn while others say it burns the popcorn in the center of the bag & I would like to share my experience with all of you on this point. Both my brother-in-law & myself are popcorn addicts & we both had owned this particular microwave at the same time. In essence we have tried EVERYTHING in trying to pop pocorn without burning the kernels or not burning anything in the bag but having 60 to 70 unpopped kernals left in the bag, because that is what it would take NOT to burn any kernals & obviously that is quite a waste. I even tried to "warm up" the bag at 30 seconds at 30% power & then try it- it helped somewhat but still did not resolve the bigger problem! Anyway this is what we discovered: if you pop a bag of popcorn with high butter content [or high fat content] it did a fairly good job of popping the entire bag without burning anything. HOWEVER if you like light butter, 50% less fat, or any kind of low fat popcorn, FORGET IT, as it will not come out as desired. We did not always just use the popcorn sensor button either as we tried putting in many different times manually but to no avail. This microwave really does have alot of terrific features but be informed about the popcorn situation if that is important to you. In any case we both returned our respective microwaves & both bought the Sharp R-402J & we are in popcorn heaven!!! Low fat or not it does a fantastic job with the popcorn at around 1:30 at high-not one burnt kernal!! (and not too many unpopped ones either!!) You do lose some features [hot water & keep warm] but we are very happy with this product. Also the display is much easier to see than the R-320 for those of you who are interested. I believe Amazon had the best price on this model last time I checked but that has been a while so check around in any case. Take care everyone! "I love this microwave!" I love using this microwave. It has several time-saving features and food comes out beautifully cooked. The only negative is that the door is light weight and sounds a bit tinny when you close it. For the price, this is a great product. "Great for price" We use the microwave every day and have not had a single problem. Does not do Popcorn well but, very quick on all other foods.

Sharp 1200-Watt 1.2-Cubic-Foot Microwaves
What our customer's say! "Major Pluses; Irritating Minuses; Great Service", The Sharp R-320HK delivers high power, a 1.2 cubic foot oven, and many features with a small footprint that will fit in many kitchens with limited counter space. The Carousel feature was a major factor in my purchase. BUT the keypad has several drawbacks: The tiny lettering is light gray on medium gray; my elderly parents could not even read the numbers, which were shadowed in addition. I ended up putting sticky labels on, after finally getting Sharp to agree it would not invalidate my warranty. An irritating problem is that in order to select one of the TEN power settings, you must keep pressing power. It takes six punches to get medium (50%) and eight punches to get defrost (30%). And since this is a 1,200 watt oven, I often need to choose a lesser setting to match with recipes created for my previous, less powerful, 700 watt oven. Then, while cooking, the display only reads "COOK," not "DEFROST" or "MEDIUM" or "30%." The door makes a very loud snap when closed. All in all, I will keep this based on my favorable history with Sharp ovens, the oven size versus the small footprint, and the carousel. I have compensated for the hard to read keypad with sticky labels, and I just grumble each time I have to choose a power setting. Sharp has GREAT service. The carousel started acting up during the warranty period, and Sharp had an authorized repair facility within five miles of me. Most small appliance dealers make me go seventy five miles from here. I carried the oven in, they had the motor, and I carried it home in time for supper. I would DEFINITELY purchase Sharp again. And purchasing through Amazon was easy, cost effective, and with quick delivery. "micro relief", the sharp 1200 watt micro was exactly what i wanted. the delivery time was amazing. the micro works very well and takes care of all my cooking needs. "Second One", I really like this Sharp microwave...my first one was purchased four years ago and recently the rotating carousel quit working. I love the bisque color and found it difficult to find another microwave in bisque so I ordered the exact same model again. You can't beat the price and it does the job without taking up too much room on the counter. My only disappointment is that it is loud while operating and the door makes a loud noise when you close it. "Microwave", Last one lasted 4 years on my boat. For the little use it gets I hope this one last much longer. "Sharp Microwave", Looks OK, but made cheaply. Noisy while running and makes a loud noise when closing the door. I would not recommend it. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Needs improvement", This is the second Sharp 1500 Watt Microwave we have owned. We purchased the second soon after first one developed problems after 8 years of satisfactory use. The new one seemed to be basically the same except for the extremely loud noise generated when the door is either closed or opened. I have hearing aids and do not appreciate the noise which sounds like a large tin box being dropped. Our earlier unit opened by pulling on the door. To open this one you have to push on a large lever which pops the door open. The mechanism is so stiff that the act of opening the door usually slides the oven across the counter into the backsplash. This is not an expensive unit but I think they could have done a little better on sound control. Sharp R-320HK 1200-Watt 1.2-Cubic-Foot Microwave, Black "Great microwave, but wrong dimensions on website", This is a great microwave, I love all the features. My only problem is that the dimensions listed on the website have the height as: 17-1/4 and depth as: 12-1/4. Actually those numbers are reversed. This could have been a problem with our counter tops, but I like the microwave so well, that I got over the fact that it was deeper than I wanted. I've informed Amazon that they have misinformation on their website, but it hasn't been fixed as of the writing of this review. Sharp R-320HK 1200-Watt 1.2-Cubic-Foot Microwave, Black "Sharp R-320HK 1200-Watt 1.2-Cubic-Foot Microwave, Black ", Overall, a nice microwave. Pluses: it has all of the features that one could need, plenty of power, and a spacious interior, with large turntable. Minuses: The auto buttons take a little getting used to, like the popcorn button, which left some unpopped kernels. The numbers on the keypad are a little hard to see in dim light. I would recommend this microwave. Very nice. "very satisfied", Very pleased. I havent tried all the pre-programmed features yet, but it is very easy to use and seems to do a good job of heating things up. My prior microwave was pretty old and often took extra minutes to get things hot. This one works the first time and I actually sometime need to reduce the cooking time that I had grown accutomed to with the old one. "New Sharp Microwave", There are a few new features on the microwave that were not on our ll year old one. It is great to not have to turn over potatoes for baked potatoes. I am having trouble adjusting to more intense heat...keep lowering the power for heating things and sometimes they still heat too quickly. I miss the recipe booklet. Over all I am satisfied with it. ![]() |
