"This PS3 have 4 usb???" Hello everyone..... I have a question about this version of PS3.... This version have 4 usb??? Can i play games of PS2 in this console??? Can anybody help me??? Thank you "Thinking of Getting a PS3?" Let me start off by saying that this review is probably the most unbiased review you are going to find here on toys r us user reviews. Surely if you are a casual gamer or a mom/dad that is shopping for their sons or daughters you probably seen some people giving this great console a 1 out 5 stars. This is because they are fanboys. Jealous low-lifes that are so attached to their consoles that they will do anything to "hurt" the sales. In this review I will be talking about the whole Lets start with the review shall we? Okay so you are deciding whether or not to buy a ps3, whether or not spending $400 for a console is a good decision. I was one of those "crazies" that bought a 60gb ps3 on launch back in 2006 for $600, and I haven't regretted it since. Sure back then there was only a few good games at the time, the online portion was feeling a little bit tacked on, and blu-ray format was battling HD-DVD to the death. Well things have changed. Now the PS3 has so games that one could not possibly have the time to play them or let alone purchase them at all at once. The Online is on par with xbox live's services ever since Sony introduced in-game XMB ( in-game cross media bar) and trophies to compete with Microsoft's achievements. And Blu-ray WON the format war! The best part of this is that PS3 is getting better and better by the moment. Now I will be noting some important things that the ps3 offers. -Games. Plain and simple. Playstation offers TONS of excellent exclusives like LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear solid 4, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, etc etc. And not to metion the multiplatform games like Call of Duty 4, Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge, and many many more. -Free Online. PSN (platstation network) is FREE. Thats right folks. FREE. All you need is to be connected to a cable modem and let the PS3 do the rest. -Blu-ray. Ever since blu-ray won the format war, distributors have now been releasing hi-def blu-ray movies now as standardized format. Out with the old (DVD) and in with the new (Blu-ray). -Diversity. A console that is for everyone. Young or Old. LittleBigPlanet is one of those games that can be admired by children AND also be admired by grown adults. There are games for everyone. -Multi-media Lunchbox. Being able to play amazing games, store and listen to music, rent movies on the PSN video marketplace, upload photos and videos, create photo albums, and many other things is what makes the PS3 stand out from the other consoles. There is no other console that lets you do these kind of things. Since this is the 80gb ps3 you should never have to worry about storage space. System Reliability. Remember when I said i was one of those "crazies" that purchased a ps3 back in 2006? Well guess what. I still own and still game on that very same PS3. I dont know what kind of black magic sony casted upon the ps3, but the console is EXTREMELY RELIABLE. Microsoft needs to learn a few things from sony and how to make a console that is reliable. I have a Xbox 360 and so far im on my 4th console. Yes you heard correctly. 4th console. Its ridiculous. Overall the games, Blu-ray, free online, system reliability, and multi-media functionalites should be the main reasons why you are purchasing this wonderful console. 5 out of 5 stars for me. Hopefully for you as well. "Best console available" Well, it is a solid console and makes almost no sound at all while using it. It has a great price considering how expensive blu-ray players are right now and the ps3 works perfectly as one. The only negative thing that i can find about this ps3 is that it does not have backward compatability, but if you don't plan on playing ps2 games this is the perfect console for you. "Thank you Sony" If you want a Blu-Ray - this is still the unit to buy. I tried the Samsung 2550 - but took it back after watching only half a movie. This unit lives up to expectations from easy set up - to online upgrades to BD Live (a really cool feature you've got to try out) to load times. Not sure about the future of Blu-Ray -- but this unit is a good bet for now. Don't settle for less. "PS3 vs Xbox 360" I have owned an Xbox 360 Xbox 360 Elite System Console Includes 120GB Hard Drive for over a year and a PS3 Playstation 3 80GB for several months. This review is a short comparison. I prefer playing games on either console over my PC. Xbox 360 Pros: - more games available - prefer the controller (not a major difference) Cons: - unable to play Blu-ray movies - concerned about red ring of death - produces so much heat that I cannot use it in summer (it is like a space-heater) - the loud fan is annoying - there is a fee for multi-player PS3 Pros: - plays Blu-ray HD movies - produces much less heat - quiet - free multi-player Cons: - not as many games available yet - prefer the Xbox controller I generally prefer the PS3 by a wide margin. Unfortunately, at this time, one almost needs both to play the best games. My suggestion to Microsoft is to include a Blu-ray player, fix the red ring of death, improve the hardware so that it uses less energy & is quiet, and make multi-player free. My suggestion to Sony is to improve the design of the controller and make more games available.

What our customer's say! "Best System to date!!!", The Ps3 offers mind blowing gaming and I love it. One of the big upsides is the whisper quiet system. I own an xbox 360 and know thats about as loud as you can get. I got it with 4 Blu-Rays and the 80GB for [...]. Dualshock is good but not as good as the Xbox 360's controller to me. I think I'll put in a USB hub since the 80GB has only two ports. Though not as easy to use as 360 the CrossBar has many more features than that of the 360. If your considering buying a xbox 360, don't! This system can play Blu-Rays and has a high HDD capacity that can be upgraded to 320GB(as little as [...]) or 500GB(around [...]). Love al the things that can be put on it(another OS, music, video, Internet browser(a bit slow), pictures) Another upside is that the gaming community is much improved and much more friendly than 360's. There are very few PS3 network people that cuss. When I play 360 it is more like a hate room than a game room. Love the free network membership(you can make 8 accounts). Only thing about online is you can't pay to change your name once you make it(it's set in stone) "huge disappointment", I just purchased this item (after being assured by many that it would play ps2 games) set it up and immediately boxed it up and returned it because it does not play ps2 games. I understand the early ones do but not this new generation. Well, they certainly lost me and I will not ever buy one UNTIL it allows you to play the games you already have. for $400.00 it should wash the clothes and do the dishes too! "Excellent System", I'll make this brief: Recently bought a PS3. (About a month ago). I have had a lot of fun with it so far, and would like to say it is worth the price tag! (And technically is a better buy than the Xbox 360 in many respects!) Allow me to reiterate, however, I am not saying this is a better system, simply it is a better value. (The PS3 has an internal wireless internet reciever, but for the Xbox 360 you need to buy an external one for $99.) I have purchased the following games to play on this system: Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, and Socom: Confrontation. The graphical prowess of this system really shines (Especially in Metal Gear Solid 4) and trumps anything I've seen on the Xbox 360. I have owned the Xbox 360 for years, and yes I still thoroughly play and enjoy that system as well. The games look phenomenal in HD, and I recommend those that can take advantage of that technology do so when buying this system. The one regret I do have is that, in my opinion, not enough big AAA exclusive games can be found on this system, but there is enough variety that it will be well worth it. Look out for Killzone 2 to make a big splash. 5/5 "the Lexus of game consoles.", I can't speak specifically fro the 80 gig but I know what the hardware differences are and I can address them. The most important thing is games. At first, it was hard to make a case for the playstation with so few exclusives, but now, most of the big third party releases are multi-platform and the PS3 has just as many exclusives as the 360. If you just can't live without Halo or Gears of War, then the PS3 can't help you just as much as the 360 can't help you with LittleBigPlanet or Metal Gear Solid 4. I have noticed that some games do look better on the 360 but the difference is really negligible, and I feel the other advantages far outweigh this. Of the PS3 games, I recommend Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Warhawk, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Grand Theft Auto IV. As far as Downloadable games, there are some really solid innovative titles. PixelJunk Monsters is as addictive as tower defense games go but also really beautiful and mesmerizing. If you have a good 1080p hdtv you will appreciate the intricate detail in such a simple game. Echochrome is also a really innovative puzzle game. I also enjoy Operation creature feature as a good game to show friends who are less into games. There are many others and almost all have a free demo so you can try it out. These downloads are all available via the playstation network which is the great online component of PS3. Before the PS3 I had never done online gaming, my computer was too slow and I didn't want to pay online fees or for extra peripherals. The PS3 made it really easy to connect to the PSN. I just set the wifi to connect to my router (all current models of the PS3 have built in Wifi) and since it's free, I didn't hesitate to sign up. I know most people talk about the PSN being inferior to Xbox Live but I don't know what more I could ask for, I can play games online, set up a buddy list, send messages and pictures, chat with or without video, download movies, demos, trailers and full games. I don't really care to do social networking through my game console but if you like, the much delayed playstation home is supposed to provide a virtual space to meet and chat using 3d avatars. My only complaint in the PSN is that the download speed seems pretty slow. All of the non-gaming features are accessed through the xrossmedia bar which is extremely easy and intuitive to use. Now for the media connectivity. It's awesome! The model I have has a built in card reader, but with the new models, you can purchase the Playstation 3 Media Hub+ which will not only add 2 USB ports but also a memory card reader. I always use the PS3 to show family pictures and slideshows, it's fast and easy to use and you can rotate and zoom on the fly. It's just as easy to watch movies from your digital cameras, and listening to MP3s from a CD or flash drive is enhanced by some great visualizers. The PS3 is pretty forgiving with peripherals, I have a Mac Keyboard hooked up to it and a Jabra bluetooth headset. The hard drive can easily be switched out with one from any company as long as its the right size. The system itself will guide you through the swap out process. the controller is the same great layout from Playstation 2 with an added home button, and R2 and L2 have become triggers. I recently bought RealTriggers which help but I used it for a year an a half without. I can't say enough about how awesome Blu-ray is. I hear a lot of people talking about upscaled DVD being just as good, but if you ever see any blu-ray on a 1080p screen, you can appreciate the difference. The image is so clean and crisp, even the sound is noticeably better. The jump in image quality is jaw dropping. I especially recommend Transformers, 300, Casino Royale, Spider-Man 3, Planet Earth, and Sunshine as great films to Showcase the Blu-rays capabilities. That being said, the PS3's DVD upscaling is also good. If you've ever played a DVD on a PS2, the same controls apply. Fast forward, rewind, skip, play, stop are all easy, it's just a shame there's no dedicated top menu button. Overall, this system is great. A bit pricey but totally worth the cost (especially compared to 360 plus the added price of online fee and overpriced proprietary peripherals). An essential part of any modern home theater system. "fun system", The PS3 is great. It was crafted with a lot of fun and is the system of the future. I love how you do not have to pay for the online service and how easy it gets online. I have no complaints about it. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "An all around entertainment device", I have owned a PS3 for about 10 months now and have gotten every cent's worth from it. It's the keystone to my entertainment center now. Here are its highlights: 1. I use free TVersity media server running on my network and the PS3 will stream my movies, music, and images from any computer. 2. I can watch DivX movies in the PS3 and it will upscale the picture just as well as my Oppo DVD player. 3. It's a great Blu-Ray player and has the ability to update its version because Sony releases patches often. Also, if you have a Logitech Harmony remote: You can buy a Nyko Remote and use the USB dongle with the Harmony to control the PS3. Unfortunately, you just can't power the PS3 on. 4. Of course the games are great. The PS3 is relatively new, so once third party developers figure out how to fully utilize the hardware, then even better games will come out. There is a drawback to my PS3. I have the 40GB version and am quickly running out of space. Grand Theft Auto 4 takes 3GB+, Metal Gear takes 4GB+, Rock Band takes 1GB+(with downloaded songs). I heard you can swap the hard drive yourself, but don't feel like investing an extra $60 until necessary. But I guess I should have considered that when deciding on the 40GB version over the 80GB version. Other than that, this is a great device for entertainment. Hopefully, retailers will further drop the price or add incentive bundles for the holidays so this system is more attractive for buyers. A tough thing to ask for from a system that is already in the red, but it's gotta compete with the Wii and Xbox somehow. "It's OKAY for now...", I just got this today... I was impressed by the graphics on this monster. However, I was disappointed when the game started to lag. You heard me, it LAGGED! A Sony system an old veteran. Well, what do you expect? I was also disappointed at the PS3 library... come on SONY. I wish they had something like Halo or something. I'm over myself aren't I? lol well, PS3 80GIG is nonetheless great. Details: Graphics: 10/10 Audio: 10/10 Game library: 6/10 Dualshock 3 controller battery life: 6/10 Fun play: 8/10 "My very first Playstation, and I love it!", This is my very first playstation I ever bought and its so amazing on what you can do on this system. Besides the obvious things you can do such as playing PS3 games and watching Blu-rays or DVDs, you can do much more with it. You can browse the internet. I watch youtube videos on there and other websites. (Though, you can't listen to music from myspace). You can also hook up a USB flash drive to it and look at pictures or listen to mp3 and some videos. Just think of it as a powerful portable computer. It is also able to connect to a wireless router. Make things more convenient if you have a wireless router (which I don't). Anyway, I bought this PS3 in October 2008 and been using it almost every day. So far, no problems. By the way, you may want to keep the system in a well ventilated area. If you put it inside a TV shelf, make sure you keep the doors open when you are using it. Like all other electronics, they do generate heat. Some fine prints you may want to know about this particular PS3 80gb system: IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PS2 GAMES. I think it is compatible with ps1 games, but it cleary states its not compatible with PS2. I don't own any previous PS games, so it doesn't matter to me. By the way, I've been watching many blu-rays in the past few weeks, and I'm a bit disappointed. With a DVD, the picture takes up the whole screen. With blu-ray, there's a top and bottom black bar, similar to a Widescreen DVD. I own a Sony Bravia KDL46W3000 and I expected blu-ray movies to take up the whole screen. "Why PS3 was by far the best value for us, and arguably the best choice now available", I had sat on the sidelines of the next gen video games up until a couple of weeks ago. I had tried Wii almost as soon as it came out and was captivated by the motion sensors but the limited availability and sameness to the games as well as limited graphics was frustrating. Xbox 360 the $50 a year subscription and more importantly it lost the Blu-ray/HD battle were big no points for me. I enjoy games, my wife does not. She does enjoy movies and the internet. When I pointed out that PS3 was a Blu-ray player (with excellent reviews) and could let us surf the internet, she was all for it. I have an 'old' HDTV (3 years old). It has a maximum resolution of 1080i and a DVI input but no HDMI. I did some research before buying this so I bought an HDMI to DVI cable at the same time. I was worried about hooking it up and getting it to look right and also getting sound. I should not have been. It took literally a few minutes. Plugged the HDMI end into the PS3 and the DVI end into the HDTV. Received a picture (great picture) right away. It detected that 1080i was the highest resolution and I choose that. Sound I simply choose the option to put sound out correctly and received gorgeous sound. I only use the speakers that came with the HDTV but it sounds fantastic on Blu-Ray. I can only imagine what people with surround sound systems will get. The Blu-Ray discs are stunning. Even with 'just' 1080i. Truly beautiful. And it also up-converts very well. My favorite movies are the LOTR expanded editions. I have seen LOTR on TNT HD broadcasts. With the PS3 they look almost as good perhaps even better than the HD broadcasts. Also one of the coolest things and I have no idea if this for all Blu-Rays are just PS3 is that it remembers where you were on discs (Blu-ray and DVD discs)even if the disc was last played 8 discs ago. So say for instance you a third of the way through Fellowship. You then put a few game discs in, some other movie discs, then go back to Fellowship. It actually remembers where you left off that disc. Love it. The internet browsing has been very cool. At first it was ok but it did not fill up the screen and the lettering was too small. But then I discovered zoom in and zoom out. And now it is really fun to browse. As an aside when I started browsing if someone was on our lap-top we would get a connection conflict and would not be able to surf on the lap-top. I called Linksys and they were able to change a bunch of settings on the router and it works just fine now, no problems on using both at the same time. As for games I have Assassin's Creed and Oblivion now. Both look amazing. I have also downloaded demos for Mirror's Edge (stunning) and Motorstorm (fun and also amazing graphics). Even as a gamer truly I only really have time for a half dozen games every year or two or even three. A lot of these games last a long time. So in reality the 360s edge on variety is for all intents moot. I am planning to get Little Big Planet and maybe the new Spidey game when it comes down in price. That will more than hold me over to God of War and which ever other few games I will get in 2009. Having a handful of great games, to me, is more important than 50 titles coming out a year. Bottomline is if you have an HDTV (particularly if you have a home theater set up) and no Blu-ray and enjoy gaming the PS3 is truly awesome. You get a great Blu-ray player, an 80gig hard drive, incredible gaming capabilities (just downloading the demos would be cool), internet browsing and video watching on your TV. You can also download the LIFE utility that has an incredibly cool visual globe where you can get live weather and news headlines around the world. And you can help cure diseases by linking to a Stanford project that looks at how proteins work and fold. If you allow it your processor can be added to the processing power being used for the Stanford project (when you are not gamin and such). Sony has succeeded in making a truly great heart of your home media experience. This is so much more than Wii it isn't even close. And with Blu-ray and free Sony playstation network, it really is a much better value than any of the 360 choices you have. Right now heading into the 2008 holiday season, PS3 stands alone as clearly the best system and the best value. Not only for gamers but for the entire family. "More capabilities than regular blu ray for the same price!", The PS3 (any version) has so much more than a regular blu ray player. You can play games, watch movies, search the internet, store files, etc...it is basically an entertainment computer with an amazing blu ray player. I spent about a week rsrching costs and benefits for a blu ray player, but after reading all of the reviews and looking at prices the ps3 beats all hands down. Any blu ray players currently on the market with the same "blu ray only capabilities" are approximately the same cost as the ps3. I did find some other good deals on blu ray only players such as the sony bdp - 350 1080p thru amazon.com, but even though it is much cheaper than the ps3, the decrease in cost still does not account for all of the additional features (and improved playback) that the ps3 provides. Even you are not a big gamer, definitely go for the ps3! ![]() |
