"Where's the beef?"
I did a search for recipes with beef (a staple in our home) and it only came up with 4 recipes! Those recipes were definitely not "family friendly" as there is no way my kids will eat anything remotely "spicy," or containing ingredients you can't find at the typical grocer.

I'm very "kitchen-challenged" and ground beef is the only thing I have ever learned to cook to any degree of confidence.

I found it impossible to simply preview the recipes, as it wants to you to make it before you even really know if you think it would be good or not. Didn't seem to be able to handle an environment in which you can't talk (or can't be heard over other noises.)

Very disappointing.

"Dancing in the kitchen"
This was a complete surprise. Voice recognition worked well, but had to speak loud and clear. Only 245 recipes in the card, so limited a bit on choice. Things we liked were the different search options and the ability to set favorites. Another nice touch for those with food allergies or just plain old dislikes was the ability to exclude foods from the pre-defined list.

The food list did not include some fairly common items. In particular, turkey was missing. This seemed a bit odd.

The videos were informative, the steps were slightly vague and serving suggestions lacking.

Overall, a fun beginner's cookbook, basic tutorial and a way to try new dishes.

"Awesome Trainer Game!"
I have yet to have the time to try out one of the dishes, but so far this trainer game seems awesome! I have gone through and saved all of my favorites, and then marked down the ingredients to all of them that I do not have. Now, when I am ready to hit the store for all the items, it has created a shopping list for me of what I need!! How cool is that?! It also has voice regocnition capability, so that when you are cooking, if your hands are dirty, you can just say "next step" and the program will proceed to the next step of the cooking directions. I can't wait to try this out. Although there are quite a number of receipes listed, I wish there were more listed from the US. It has many receipes from other countries and such, but it does seem a bit limited. Either way, so far I really like this game/product. I would definitely recommend to others.

"Great Game, Semi-Great Selection"
This game is great. It teaches you how to cook dishes from all around the world, however, I've noticed thus far that many, many of the selections are of the seafood variety. This came sucks for those, who like me, cannot eat seafood or dislike the taste of seafood. So beware...If you do not eat seafood for whatever reason you may not want to invest in this game.

"Amazing Game! "
I got this game for Christmas and about a little bit afterwards I decided to try out a recipe. Since I love Greek Salads, I decided to make that one as an appitizer. So if I didn't like it I would have another dinner that I knew I'd like. Nintendo gave excellent step-by-step instructions on how to do it. The only problem I had with it was the steps went by a little too fast so I had to pause the game each time I got to a new step. The salad turned out being delicious, my family even wanting seconds. Before New Years my family and I are planning on making an actual meal from the game. The timing of how long it takes is correct just as long as you don't get distracted. They said it took 20 minutes and for us it took around 20/21 minutes to make. Mainly it was prep work but overall it was good it actually tasted like a Greek salad! Two thumbs up to Nintendo!

What our customer's say!

"Personal Trainer Cooking", My daughter (17) loves this. She has only made one dish but it was excellent and she had so much fun making. It is a great tool for anyone wishing to experiment and learn in the kitchen.

"Not very useful", I bought this when it was for sale on the site for $5. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it as I have not yet used it to cook with. It is not very practical in this format. I'm used to pulling up a recipe out of a book, my notebook of favorites, a website, or my file I keep in Microsoft OneNote. I don't think of using my Nintendo when I'm planning what to make for dinner. This program is more of a novelty than something useful.

"Fun, but not for the picky eater", Personal Trainer Cooking is a great game for those who want a new twist on instructional cooking. You can put down your cookbook, and be read the instructions aloud. The only flaw that I have found so far is that the recipes may not appeal to a wide audience. For me, a picky eater, there aren't many options that I can cook as is. I have to adjust most of the recipes.

"Cooking Fun", This is a gift for a 10 YO and she has really taken charge of it, she is now making dinner one night a week. This is a great tool for new cooks. We take the DS to the store to shop for ingredients, she reviews the list of necessary utensils, and the step by step instructions are great, clear and sensible. The stuff you know, you "continue", the stuff you need to learn you review. There is a calendar for planning what you are going to make, what you made when. Overall success. I have some adult friends who may get this for a present.

"what fun!", I received this game as a christmas gift(because i requested it)
its so much fun. i have been cooking for many years and am experienced, but it is great to find new recipes and ideas. i'm really looking forward to more DS items like this one. i love my DS and i think it has much more to offer than just kid games. it has a great future!
I would definatley purchase this for a beginner and also for an intermediate cook! + + + !!!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"the best out there", i purchesed this product for my 9yr old daughter. I checked all over
the internet, and this was the best program out there. the only problem that I have, is that I could have bought it at Wal-Mart cheaper

"Help for the budding chef", I was so excited when I received the promo for this product. My 11 year old son has loved cooking for as long as I can remember.

With this product he has been able to shop for all the ingredients and prepare foods from different countries with only assistance from me.

I was looking for cooking classes but now....... he has a personal trainer!

Great product - not a game - more of a cooking tutor

"I love the future!", It's here with my new DS and my 1st DS Personal Trainer! I love the sortability factor! I go straight for calories...then by ingrediants: It is that time of the year! Plus Voice recognition! All the reviews just nailed it and I have to agree! I see such crossover potentinal for the Adult DS owners out there! We'll take them all! Thanks!

"Recipes just a bit too "fancy"...", I think the idea of this DS game is fantastic and the interface is quite good; however, I was disappointed in the selection of recipes. I expected something with more ordinary recipes and ingredients - like different ways to prepare chicken, beef, or fish, without getting overly fancy. The selection of ingredients is a bit out of the ordinary for me. When I read reviews, there were no comments on the recipe selections - I made an assumption the recipes would be a little more basic based on the reviews saying this was more for the beginner cook. I do see now that the title indicates "gourmet" recipes, so maybe had I seen that, I would have known better! : - )

"Great Idea Gone Wrong", I was excited to get this for Christmas however after reviewing it it only has like 200 recipes and not enough with everyday ingrediants like ground beef. I would like to see additions to this collection like... recipes from Americas best, Best of Italy, etc...
