"Good, no nonsense can that works", We've got three of these now: garbage, recycling, and diaper can. They work great. The lid lowers slowly to avoid crunching tiny fingers, the lock works well, and they fit in tight spaces. Very good cans.

"Love this trash can", I LOVE this trash can! My neighbor has a dog that likes to "dumpster dive" for treats in the trash and I suggested this trash can for her house. She LOVES it, too! The narrow one fits nicely in the small opening I have. I like the wheels, the latch works well, and the foot pedal to open the can is perfect. I also like the mechanism that makes the lid close slowly- no slamming!

"Slim trash can", The packaging was falling off the trash can when it when it was delivered by Fed Ex and the trash can was damaged The top could not be put on properly so I don't know how it would have worked for us. I do know that Fed Ex said it wasn't their fault and the guy left promptly after handing me a tag with the Fed Ex phone number on it. There was no packing slip. Thank heavens Amazon was very professional on the phone and sent a UPS person to pick it up. He was great so I guess my recommendation is for UPS!

"Unsurpassed Customer Service", Purchased this item approximately a year ago, and it proved 'up to the task ' that it was designed for until 2 months ago.
At that time, one of the two circular plastic holds for the metal rod that is used to attach the lid ...cracked.
Shortly thereafter, both clamp-on plastic 'snap in place' pieces at either end of the lid...cracked.

Resultantly, the lid no longer functioned properly, and would fall off most of the time that the treadle was depressed by foot.

Expecting no help assistance or sympathy from the manufacturer, I neverhtheless went on-line to describe the problem.

Inside of 24 hours, I had a response from an empathetic, cordial company representative who apologized for the problem,
and told me that another lid was on its way to me..., and that there was no cost for the lid or for the shipping.

This kind of 'stand behind your product' service was something that I thought had been relegated to the distant past.
SIMPLEHUMAN is a shining exception to the lamentable state of affairs that modern consumer goods have taken.

Not only would I have no qualms about purchasing other SIMPLEHUMAN products, I eagerly look forward to the next
opportunity to do so...because I think it is important to support them.

"Looks nice, closes softly", We got this trash can at Lowe's for about the same price. We also got the matching recycle bins that stack. This trash can fits right between my refrigerator and cabinets - a space normally occupied by brooms and other unsightly cleaning supplies. In an effort to de-clutter and beautify my kitchen I put those in a hall closet and placed this slim and unobtrusive can there instead. Just enough room to tap the lever with your foot and though there are wheels on the backside they are sturdy enough that the can doesn't roll back every time you step on it. The quiet close system is good - the top never slams down. It also locks in the open position if you need it to which is nice for scraping plates and cutting boards into the trash. I do not yet have the special simplehuman K type liners, but our regular 10 gallon bags fit nicely.

"Simplehuman Trash Can", I read a few of the negative reviews, and it's a shame that the lid isn't working for some people... perhaps they got a defective product? We've had ours for about a year now and have never had a single problem with it. It's worked out great for us! The wheels are a nice feature, but we especially love it for the lock and the way that the lid closes slowly. We have a little one, 14 months old now, and it's so nice now that he's trying to get into everything that we can lock the lid and keep him out of the trash! Although we've been very careful to not let him see how it locks, or I'm sure he'd quickly figure out how to undo it. Also, no worrying about fingers getting caught if he were to open the lid and try to dig something out. A couple of my family members have metal cans with very heavy lids that close quickly, so we were trying to avoid that. Overall, I think it's a great product, looks great (we have the black one), and if you've had issues with it's functionality I would try contacting the manufacturer. Or get it at a local store (like bed, bath and beyond) so if there are any problems it's easier to exchange! The price is also pretty similar there if I remember correctly.

"Great product, HIGHLY recommend", There are two very similar cans by 'Simplehuman', and this one offers the slim design while the other is the typical wider design, while still slim lengthwise. Both cans would offer the same ease of use, it just depends on what you are looking for.

This thing is great- the 12 gallon trash-bag fits into this thing PERFECTLY. I was worried at first because it doesn't have an insert to attach to the bag, but it doesn't need one because the bag fits snug against the can and is hardly noticeable when the lid is closed. Also- even when you overfill the bag, it comes out of this can smoothly and with no resistance (unlike round cans that rip and shred the bag as you pry it from the can). It is a nice enough looking can, mine black with stainless steel accents, and it's lock functions as it should.

It's got a simple design, which means it will last longer than the fanzy-pants no-touch (they die, don't buy one). If you're looking for a trashcan, you've found it- go ahead and add this baby to your cart!

"Works Great", In short, here are the reasons I give this 5 stars:
* Compact design, yet large internal size
* Foot pedal easy to operate, feels solid
* Lid doesn't slam closed, or pop back open once closed
* Normal-sized trash bags fit with no problems
* Convenient shape

In summary, this can does exactly what I needed it to, and I would purchase the same can again.

"Do Not Buy This Trash Can!", The only positive that I have to say about this trash can is that it looks nice. However, the functionality of it is less than desirable. I have had this trash can for almost a year, and it is literally falling apart. The hinge comes off at least once a day, and has to be snapped back on before it will function properly again. The most disappointing thing to me about this product is the main reason for my initial purchase, the lock. I was excited that this can had a lock, so that my dog couldn't get into the trash. However, the lock doesn't work all the time. When the trash bag gets 3/4 full, and you need to lock it to keep nosy canines out, the lock is not fully engaged and the lid can easily be lifted up.

"My fav color", I love this trash can. My previous one was a trash can that opened automatically by sensor. That broke in half a year. This trash can is also my favorite color.
